Definately a Dumba!!. I hope that he enjoys his stay in a Correctional Facility. He is the scum of the earth. I hope the offender is caught soon.
and,
Rockville Resident,
Don't judge all the staff because of one sleaze bag. There are staff on duty now that have been working almost 24 hours to feed, take the offenders to the bathroom, shakedowns, etc. Unless you have been their, done that, don't be judgemental!

First of all, no where in my post did I judge ALL the staff at that facility. I simply made a statement, so don't get your panties in a bunch. And second of all...thank GOD I haven't been there and done that! I wouldn't dream of trafficking with an inmate, having sex with an inmate OR helping a convicted murderer escape. I'm not judging ALL of the employees at RCF. Here's a little hint for you...Taking offense to such a broad and general statement sure makes you look guilty of something.

Robert, not to be too critical, but we were right about you. Just because Spitler turned out to be dumber then you, dosen't make you any smarter. For instance, a green bean and a green tomato are both green, but they are not the same.

This gives a bad taste in the public's mouth for correctional officers. He is only a few. I take my hat off to correctional officers and others whom work in a prison. it takes a SPECIAL breed to work there day after day. Great Job ! and for this correctional officer hope you meet Bubby soon.

I am a retired correctional Officer of 27 years
and I still cannot understand what people are thinking about when they commit such of an act.
these people are only taking advantage of the weak
people they are only thinking of them selfs. if anything goes wrong you are the frist one that is given up to the authorties

I was an inmate in that facility for a while and not once did Mr. Spitler come off as anything but a dedicated officer who did his job. I feel bad for his family. Also, I knew Sarah Pender and she was always very smart and a take charge individual. She needs to be found and put back where she belongs. We all have to pay for our wrongdoings and believe me, most of the women there are good people who made stupid mistakes. I hope DOC finds her soon.

I know Mr. Spitler fairly well. I would have never thought he would ever in any way do something of this nature. I honestly believe that she did manipulate him.
People remember we are all human and honestly most of you need to remember he has a family that had no idea of what was going on, so instead of slamming him, why not say something like, we are so sorry for his family. Sometimes I cannot for the life of me understand why everyone just jumps to put people down. Yes he made a mistake and admitted to it, now he will do whatever time is necessary but the family is the ones that are suffering the most. Maybe some of you can have some sympathy for them and keep your crappy comments to yourself.
May god bless you all and remember none of us are perfect.

You are the scum of the arth for judging this man you don't know what was going through his mind. Can you not take one second to think of his family who is suffering. Yeah I agree it was wrong for what he did, but anyone who knows Scott knows this is not the Scott we all know and love, he had to have something snap or something. Everyone has a right to there own opinion but why set and call him names. He will pat for this the rest of his life, but his family is going through enough without people bashing him more. Sounds to me all people on her are worried about is who get there bonus and who has to take the blame well get a life and stop judging other lifes.

My husband has worked with Scott for years and I know him personally as well. My heart goes out to his wife and children, as well as his other friends and family members. This is the biggest fear of any woman whose husband works in DOC and unfortunately it is the harsh reality for more than the public realizes. The Scott that we know was a good and kind person who loved his family. This was obviously a huge mistake that he made, but anyone who knows him will realize that he had to have had a reason for taking the chance that he did. He and his family will pay for this for the rest of their lives. We need all need to step up, be bigger people and support them through this. Too often, people judge other people and have no idea what they are going through. The daily temptations of a job like this are unbelievable. No one goes to work looking to help an offender...sometimes, your judgement is clouded by the manipulative ways of the offenders.

How come the guard at the gate didn't check the car that Scott was driving out with the offender in the back? Was he/she in on it?

This latest incident of a law enforcement official performing illegal acts on duty should be a sad reminder to us all that we are human and humans make mistakes,

I am sure that this correctional officer had his reasons to commit these crimes and he will be duly punished for them but lets take a look at the bigger picture.

There is and always will be a bad apple somewhere in law enforcement. This time it was the DOC. Next week it could be ISP or MCPD.

All we can do as citizens is help local law enforcement to catch their trash and make sure it is put away.

Better yet, how did she know he was there to get in with him unless someone else told her it was time. She would have been hiding after she changed clothes and not been able to hear the radio.

Yes, Rockville Resident, You said employeeS. Plural. My panties are not in a wad and I am not guilty of anything, just a DOC employee that takes pride in there job and has faith in there fellows workers. This is like finding out your Sig. Other is having an affair. You are betrayed!
Why feel sorry for Spitler. This escape was not planned overnight. How did she get clothes to change into, money to spend, a place to go? As soon as he realized he felt something for her he should of removed himself from that situation. Come on guys, get real, feel sorry for Spitler, turning a murderer loose. How sorry will you feel for him if she murderes your family? What if she is in a high speed chase and hits your car with all your family in it and kills them? He put his own family at risk too. What a stand up guy. His actions changed the entire running on the facility, Look what has he done to the reputation of all the hard working, honest staff? Both Custody and non.
Shocked, yes most staff were, but I will guarentee this, By his betrayel staff are looking at all their fellow workers with a critical eye. Not a good thing in a prison. Did he not think he wouldn't get caught!!!!
He not only committed a crime but committed the most unforgiving act a DOC staff person can do. We are a TEAM, a FAMILY. He betrayed, lied, placed all of us,the public, staff, offenders, in a dangerous position because he had no morales. What would he of done to the West Gate Officer if he had found her in the van? Would he be in the hospital, maimed for life, DEAD! Has anyone thought of that?
Feel sorry for Scott, absolutely not. And as the other poster said, His bubby is waiting for him! Come to Poppa!
