Now hold on just a minute and don't jump to conclusions. Just because Vigo voters put some officials back in office doesn't mean they thought about it much. Our county's vote casters are known for simply pulling a lever or punching a ballot using the "Eeney meeney miney mo" method. The school board members are seldom scrutinized. The incumbants run a low key campaign, slide back in and usually stay long term.

What an interesting observation. I wondered why i saw very little signage and then boom. I guess if Mel campaigned, people would know he is illiterate.

Agreed with Papaw. Vigo voters have a very bad habit of reelecting officials that have either done a poor job, thats who the union told them to vote for or just "more of the same". This is how people like the thieving Pat Mansard, The tax jacking Clyde Kersey and others remain in office. Its also one of the reasons there is little progress in TH. I do applaud the voters of Vigo County for retaining Duke Bennett. Unprecidented considering that he is a Republican and not a crook.

I agree 100 percent. I'm just saying if the people want a change then shud nt the fine people of vigo county start going in a different direction? Do ur homework befor the election. Find the incumbent and fill in the OTHER oval. Don't go in as a r or d. Go in as an independent. Keep Duke tho.

his job is not an elected position. The school board is elected and is in theory, his boss. We all know that is a joke. He runs them, they don't run him. May be a reason why Larry Faulkner received 9,000 plus votes this past election. All members of the school board are connected to him in some way. It is not an impartial board. The voters can only vote for someone else if that someone else runs for election. This is a dead horse. He is what he is and will stay that way until retirement.

No shit? Never said anything about this being elected position. All I'm saying is if people want change vote against the establishment and these positions Are always contested. Lower burkes Patel and so on. Until this happens I'd say vigo county people like the job he's doing. Thanks me tanoos for the good job

Of course the Administration "suggests" that the letters be written. Most of them start about April and are written by the Principal thanking VCSC administrators for their support for a certain event, etc.

Have you also noticed that the signs located at each school also sound suspiciously alike - as if the individual schools are told what to put on their signs by the Administration. I don't know, did the VCSC pay for those signs or the PTO? If it is the PTO then the administators ought to back off. I'd hate to think students and parents worked or donated for their sign at their school only to have it used to post VCSC propaganda.

That propaganda thats usually congrats to an individual or team for acheivement? That sounds terrible. The PTO should have a bake sale in protest.

Nobodys ever gonna like every decision that someone makes. It aint gonna happen. Did you like every decision your mom or dad made? Still think they did a pretty good job?

Don't ya love the letters to the editor from VCSC teachers and principals. They praise their own efforts and always make it sound like Tanoos was the the main reason the event was a success. Wonder if he makes them write the letters.
Each school is required to write to the paper and praise their efforts! You hit the nail on the head!

Schools raise money to buy those signs and sometimes the administration calls or emails the principals to post certain things .

Sometimes the board is even "hand picked" to run in the school board elections. Ditto on the last statement you made.

Yes, Papaw he does make administrators write the letters to the editor. Each principal/dean is REQUIRED to submit a letter every year. When I see the editorial page, I always look first at the name of the person who submitted it. If it is someone from VCSC, I skip reading it because it is the same old drivel. He also makes employees contribute to a charity of HIS choice each year. Hahn, the list could go on and on.
Got that right!

They do not start in April. They are published throughout the year and even in summer months. Even enlists parents to propagandize for his majesty.

Mayor? Why would he want to be mayor? His base salary alone for 2010 was $137,097. That doesn't include his benefits. His total compensation package is worth nearly $200,000. The mayor makes roughly $85,000 a year. For Norm that would be a huge pay raise, for Tanoos, however, it would be half of what he is getting now.

I don't recall what Danny's total pay package is worth---nor do I recall if he has a contract....and, if he does, what is the length of the contract?

Just as a FYI, here is a story from the IndyStar about another super!
