This isnt good at all for any of us on Verizon.
Extreemly poor service from these people worse than Verizon.
Dear Verizon Online Member,
We are writing to remind you that starting July 1, 2010, your Internet service provider will change
from Verizon to Frontier Communications, one of the nation’s largest independent providers of
telecommunications services.
What will not change:
•You will not experience any disruption of your Internet service.
•Your service plan and monthly fee will stay the same.
•You will still have the same great high-speed connection you do now!

Sad News For Frontier.net Customers

http://www.justbroadband.org/forum/remark,207...

These people just want to get in your pocket more due to old equiptment.

Anyone wishing to Port Forward will now have to upgrade to a Business Class DSL which costs:
$79.00 for a 1 year contract.
$69.00 for a 2 year contract.
This will provide you with a static IP Address and other little tricks to get your Port Forward working again by using MTU Settings and reconfiguring your router for 1400.

I think it migght be time to switch providers.

Frontier continues to mislead its customers about the experimental pricing on its own website. As of this writing, Frontier’s Acceptable Use Policy still states:

Customers may not resell High Speed Internet Access Service (“Service”) without a legal and written agency agreement with Frontier. Customers may not retransmit the Service or make the Service available to anyone outside the premises (i.e., wi-fi or other methods of networking). Customers may not use the Service to host any type of commercial server. Customers must comply with all Frontier network, bandwidth, data storage and usage limitations. Frontier may suspend, terminate or apply additional charges to the Service if such usage exceeds a reasonable amount of usage. A reasonable amount of usage is defined as 5GB combined upload and download consumption during the course of a 30-day billing

Nice People Company? You decide

Dear [Customer]:

Frontier is focused on providing the best possible internet experience across our entire customer base. We bring you a quality service at a fair price, dependent upon an average monthly bandwidth usage of 5GB. Over the past months, your account is in violation of our Residential Internet Acceptable Use Policy.

Our policy states that Frontier reserves the right to suspend, terminate or apply additional charges to the Service if such usage exceeds a reasonable amount of usage. A reasonable amount of usage is defined as 5GB combined upload and download consumption during the course of a 30-day billing period.

We realize there are times when our customers use the internet for services such as video and music downloads, however your specific usage has consistently exceeded 100GB over a 30 day period.

We would like to provide you with the option of keeping your Frontier internet service at a monthly rate of $99.99 which is reflective of your average monthly usage. Please call us within 7 days of the date of this email at 1-877-273-0489 Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM CST to review your options. If you do not wish to switch to this new rate plan, you can have your service disconnected. If we do not hear from you within 15 days, your internet service will be automatically disconnected.

We continue to manage our network to ensure all of our customers have equal access to the internet and the ability to enjoy all of its available content, at our committed level of service quality.

Sincerely,

Frontier Communications

They don't let you pay less if you use less though. based on their rates for higher users their normal monthly fee should only be $5 a month if you stay under the cap.

These are customers that have signed up for one service under verizon and are now getting another under frontier. The product they are getting from frontier is much more expensive and much lower quality in comparison to what they had.

Glad I have AT&T DSL. KIt used to be dependent on where you lived in TH you couldn't get Avenue or Charter. You could only get Avenue or Charter in what they poorer neighborhoods. Where I lived I could only get Time Warner. My sister lived down around sycamore and I lived above the Avenues. I don't know if that still holds true. I haven't lived in TH for almost 4 years. I live just above the cutoff between At&t and Verizon. But Verizon holds the cell phone service up here. We have AT&T cell service but have an 812 rather than 765 area code. Makes no sense to me. The plus side though it allows my friends and family in Terre Haute to call me without having to call long distance.

Time Warner is the only provider for most of the area. Unless you live on the East side (East Glenn area) and north side (up by Sky King), you could possibly get Avenue (now Charter). If TWC has any competing service provider, they wouldn't be raising prices like they do. Competition is not a bad thing. I don't want a dish, but I get Avenue where I live.

We changed over to dish when we lived in TH becasue of their constantly rising prices. I pay slightly more for 250 channels and HBO. For what time warner charges for maybe 70 or so channels. But of course out of all those channels you watch maybe 100 channels.

I know this because my mother has time warner and after raising it agsin to over $50.00 and her being on fixed income she had to go down to 2-13. She couldn't afford it anymore. Plus the quality is so much better on dish. The downside is if their is very heavy rain and storms it can go out for a a short time. Where I live now though its satellite or nothing. On the plus side they have channels cable doesn't have.

I to switched to direct TV first but they didn't have local channels at the time. We switched to dish and it doesn't go out as much as many think.
