The reason you need to
search for hams in your neighborhood is because they can run their 1500 watt transmitters with a small wire dipole and vertical antennas hidden in trees and flag poles. Unlike CB radio operators who are limited to a very low 4 watt transmitters in your neighborhood, hams can do more damage to your children with there 1500 watt transmitters.

How to put a stop to ham radio operators from polluting your
neighborhood:

1. Write your congressman about protecting your children from harmful
EMF.

2. Demand that the FCC certify every ham radio operator in your area
comply with RF exposure regulations by writing the FCC.

http://www.fcc.gov/eb/AmaCmpl.html

3. Contact your local city council and mayor to lobby to change Federal
law regarding using high powered transmitters in your neighborhood.

4. If you live in a neighborhood with a covenant then contact the HOA and demand that it be changed to exclude licensed ham radio operators from living in the neighborhood, it is not enough to ban large antennas since the ham radio operator will put up a small wire antenna or an antenna in their attic to transmit up to 1500 watts of power.

5. If you find out a ham is in your neighborhood let your neighbors know
so they can contact your city council and congress representative to
change the law to mandate a lower power usage of ham radio around your
family.

6.. Ham radio operators lower your property values with there large
antennas and the increasing knowledge that high power transmitters
effect every family in the neighborhood with harmful EMF radiation.

Maybe you should look around your house and find the things that you created that are a hazzard to your kids. Your statements are totally unfounded. The 1500 watts at the frequencies used at are not unsafe. Most operators don't operate at that power. and those that do so in an unsafe manner are more of a detriment to themselves than their neighbors. Stop worrying about inane subjects and worry about the toxic gas emitting from your ears due to your rotting brain.

ENFORCEMENT: FCC REVOKES LICENSE OF CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER

The FCC has revoked the amateur radio license of an Indiana ham who was
convicted several years ago of molesting a child. Amateur Radio
Newsline's Mark Abramovich, NT3V, has the details:

--

Lonnie Keeney, KB9RFO, will have to surrender his ham license after the FCC
ruled "he lacks the requisite character and qualifications to be and remain
a commission licensee."

Kris Anne Monteith, the FCC's chief of the Enforcement Bureau, issued the
ruling after a more than two-year process that started with a compaint
filed in 2006.

The FCC investigated and found Kenney pleaded guilty in December 2002 to
inappropriate contact with a 5-year-old.

He was sentenced to six years in prison. Because of his conviction, Kenney
is required to register as a sex offender and must register his address
with law enforcement.

He was also barred from any contact with youth during a period of probation
which ended last May.

In her order filed with the commission, Monteith said the character of a
licensee is one of the factors the commission considers in determining
whether a person should be granted an operating license.

She noted the commission has applied such character standards developed for
broadcasters to applicants and licensees of the Amateur Radio Service.

Monteith said since Keeney acknowledged his conviction and continues to be
supervised by law enforcement as a sex offender, his license should be
revoked.

The revocation order was adopted Feb. 25.

If there was a natural disaster and all communication was ceased. no TV, no radio etc. Guess what dumb ars the Ham operators would still be able to work. They could contact family for you in all parts of the world. They could summon help for you. They would know what is going on outside of your little corner. They help the police fire, and Disaster agency's. One case that you cite of a Ham operators being child molester. So you lump them into one category. Narrowness of the mind, and ignorance.
So when you something does happens, I would not go running to your neighbor. But your neighbor would probably help you anyways because that is how most Ham operators are, they help people, that is part of the reason they do this. AS said above get your facts straight. My neighbor is a Ham Radio Operator. He has his antenna in the front yard. Doesn't interfere with anything in my home and it has been up a year i'm still here and just fine.KI am glad he is my neighbor. People talking on cell phone and driving are far more dangerous. Leave em alone and let them have their hobby.
There is always one in every neighborhood that has to bi*** and moan about everything and be in everyone's business !!!!! Guess your that one.

Child Molester's Radio License at Risk

Should a convicted child molester be able to keep his license to run an amateur radio station?

The Federal Communications Commission will address that question at an upcoming hearing on the "character qualifications" of Robert Landis, who received his license April 1, 1999.

After receiving a complaint about Landis, the FCC investigated and found that he was convicted in 1991 in California of two counts of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14. He was fined $10,000 and sentenced to 11 years in state prison.

The agency says it also learned that Landis was running his radio station from a mental hospital in Atascadero, Calif.

The FCC notified Landis of its intent to revoke his license in an Aug. 1 show-cause order.

The agency said the Communications Act of 1934 allows it to consider the character of licensees, and evidence of conviction of a felony relates to character.

The FCC has held that some felonies may be so egregious that they constitute prima

This gives all hams a real bad name. I really hate that this is even possible. This has been a real source of controversy here locally. Some say this these radio Amateur's are ok now and some say they will do it again. If they do strike again say at a scout roundup or some other ham radio activity where kids were involved it would really hurt the ham radio image. I am just hoping they are better now and wont do it again

It is not they, it is a few. Do not lump all into into category of all the thousands of operators don't let a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Do not be a self righteous, judgmental, ignorant hick. Yes some child molesters are using it as a means, that sickens me to. However there are much more of those that it is a hobby and are good people.

I wasn't aware of that but yes I would. Just because a person is gay does not make them a child molester or a bad person. Again bigotry and ignorance. Before some Smart Ars comes along and says it no I am not gay I have been happily Married to my Soldier for 24 years. Look in your own closet folks. You come on here and bash others call them names, acting self righteous, and show your ignorance. People like you are what scares me because ignorance breeds hate and hate begets violence. Before you know it an innocent person who would hurt no one ends up hurt or killed because they are different and do not fit into what your idea of a perfect little world.
