The initial cost of a acceptable quality hot tub is $6000.00 and up, the average life expectancy of that product before major repairs are needed is about 5 years.

The monthly electrical consumption of that appliance is, anywhere from $25-$50 per month depending on the time of year and how well insulated it is, imagine adding $50 a month to your electric bill during the winter, when you only use something once or twice a month on average, if at all after the glitter wears off.

Chemicals and maintenance will run you another $30-$40 a month.

Then the warranty runs out and your tub quits heating in the middle of Dec , You have about 10-12 hours to get a service tech out to repair it before the plumbing freezes and busts, That service call is typically $85 per hour from the time they leave the store, stop for coffee, drive slower than a snail, stop for lunch, etc. all on your time. Get The picture.:)

Unless you have money to burn, you might consider a nite out at a local hotel that has a spa, nice resturant, and lounge, at a cost of lots less, get that out of your system and save thousands, plus you wont wind up with a piece of junk fiberglass on your patio, that nobody wants after just a few years.

The ones in hotels etc are nasty. We don't let anyone else in ours accept myself and wife that way we know it doesn't get
pissed in like public ones. Anything the general public is allowed to use is disgusting.

If you think a hot tub is expensive.....
You might want to compare it to your cell phone service..
There are a lot of things that in the eyes of someone else, aren't worth the money
Not trying to be rude, just stating an opinion.

A cell phone has become almost a necessity, i agree the rates are high, but you dont have to own a high dollar toy, that in most cases is just a status symbol, and for the upkeep expense involved, the same money could be better spent through donations to the homeless, or Rileys Children Hospital, or even St. Judes.

Then if you wanted you could put up a nice sign in your yard saying you support the health and well being of sick children, instead of one that says, i waste all my money on self indulgence, and a useless hot tub.

But I don need to donate any more the great and wonderful Obama has cured all such problems or have you not heard yet. Any way home association rules forbid signs in my area so ill just spend MY MONEY AS I DAMN WE'LL SEE FIT!!!

Let them die and decrease the surplus population. The homeless are a waste of time and are nothing but oxygen thieves.

Why the hell was this thread even started? It's pretty obvious if you can't afford one and the upkeep then don't buy one. Secondly, if people earn their own money then they can spend it any way they damn well please.

We have one and spent a lot more than 6 grand for it. Want to know why...because we bust our asses to be able to spend what little of our paychecks that actually goes to us instead of you mooches on whatever the hell we want. Sorry you are poor and too lazy to do so for yourself! Whine about it long enough, and I'm sure your president will force me to buy you one out of my check. Besides, we all know that you are just pissed at Backyard Leisure because you can't afford to shop there and decided to cry on here instead of spending that time working so that you might be able to do so.

:) another douche bag lol. It amuses me that a certain number of people think they are supporting the world, If i could only buy you for what you're actually worth, then resell you for what "You Think" your're worth i could pay off the national debt with the profit.

As far as what "I" can afford, ive worked for over 40 years and have enough money to buy you and Backyard Leisure if i chose to do so, but that would be just like wasting my money on a hot tub to use as a status symbol, and watch a couple of douche bags like you, soak their self important asses in it

Dont assume what you dont know chump.

someoneyouenvy, you seem to be all about money, age, and what you've got that someone would want to see in a hot tub,

Troublesome, and shallow to say the least, but you can always judge a book by its cover. And you're cover tells me you are not only superficial, but you dont have a clue what life is really about, and what you have to say is not the least bit interesting to anyone. So your life will most likely stay on the shelf with all the other useless books :) End of discussion

i think they are dead on right as long as they are attacking a moronic liberal such as yourself. You are the best advertising for why I will do business with backyard leisure in the future. Any body know what all they sell besides hot tubs I might just look them up this idiot convinced me.

Good :) everyone who enjoys doing business with liars and thieves, will feel right at home there, and once you get cheated yourself, you can help sing their praises.

Apparently life is all about spending your retirement years bashing local businesses whose employees most definitely pay for your state aide. Sounds like a life well lived to me grandpa!

Nobody is paying anything toward my retirement idiot, i worked and paid into social security for many years, and now im taking full advantage of that while "your" president has better things to try to mess up. And anyone who is attacked by me has it coming, pay backs are a B#tch

My Cable Bill ( No Movie Channels, or Sports Packages but do have 1 DVR) is more each month than my Duke Energy Bill. Doesn't seem right.
