This is the truth. It is a cess pool of low lives who steal from the residents, sleep with one another and some of the biggest drug addicts in town. Kelly oxendine a known drug dealer in town was working there. The poor residents put their trust in them and are clueless. There was another thread on here about this place. I wonder if it's gone.

The other thread is gone. Probably because it called people out by names.

Drug Dealers & heavy users are right up with Pedophiles. They should be "cleansed " from sociality. No prison terms or to have social workers try and change them, Get rid of them like trash, pests, or weeds. They're damage beyond hope or help.

I would have to agree with everything said here. A very bad place to work in my opinion. Couldn't stand Kim Slaven.

I work with a girl now who worked there for a few years. she has told some stories about that place you wouldn't believe. The kitchen had a gay make managing it and he would black mail the young high school boys he hired to do sexual things with him to get hours or a good schedule and that's not the worst. They aren't supposed to do certain things with the residence and they do. I didn't hear anything about Anyone named Kim from the stories that I remember but there are some stories I couldn't believe. Just sounds like those employees sure like to have fun and use that place as their own playground.

Oh trust me, everyone knows what I am talking about who has worked there (with me) from conversations we use to have. I suppose it's better not to speak of someone like her. She isn't worth talking about in my opinion and of course everything I have said is my opinion.

Oh, I believe you it's bad. Just goes along with everything else I've ever heard about the place. I showed my friend this convo tonight and she said you're right. Lol and she said if you worked there, too, then you know it ALL!

Yes, unfortunately, I know things. I removed myself from that place and I never looked back. It was the best thing I ever did. I'm very happy at another place of employment now. Tell your friend, I wish her well and I am sorry she had to endure that nightmare of a place for even 5 minutes. Again, what I state is my opinion. Take care.

The turn over rate seems to be enormous at that place, so former employees are everywhere. I work with a former employee and have heard horrible things too. I wonder how that place stays open? Someone recently said the building is half empty so maybe people are finding out what is going on. Idk and have no way of knowing what is true for sure. I do believe what has been told to me.

I personally work for a company who has involvements with Sycamore Manor for various opportunities. In less than 3 years, I have worked with 3 Directors, 3 Admissions Directors and they are all out the door before I know it! There are some very questionable practices taking place within those walls. The building is less than half occupied and I have seen and heard very troubling things from some of the contacts I have made there. Very startling to think about. The community has looked at Sycamore Manor as a place for the more affluent and well to do seniors in the area, so I am very certain many influencers are in the dark when it comes to the truth about the facility. I would bet my retirement one single employee couldn't pass a drug test. It's too bad their corporate parent is in the dark and doesn't do something about such a toxic place before an innocent resident gets hurt, or worse.

5Kgal, A person doesn't have to be wealthy to live there. They have apts. that are very reasonable, and when you consider that the rent includes everything, utilities, food, and 24 hr. help, it's a bargain. I don't approve of what I know about the employees (if the same are still there) and since as you say the building is more than half empty, I imagine people are finding out what is going on. When SM first opened it was a good place for seniors to live. Unfortunately the good employees left one by one. I would say a year later or possibly 2 years later the employees were pretty bad. I can think of only one who was a decent, honest, hard working employee. Residents at that time knew what was going on and were concerned. Those have died and new people move in, apparently not knowing what is going on. My friend told me they couldn't keep the apts. rented and the thing that kept the doors open was a few people who had moved to Florida and then moved back. Again, apparently not knowing what was going on there. My friend believed it was the managers fault and her assistant. One has left, but the other remains (I was told). From what I have been told by several people, if they removed the assistant as well, things would shape up. I won't go into detail, but the company needs to investigate and consider cleaning house as in starting with an entire new crew. Like others have said, this is my opinion from what good friends have told me. Past employees could tell the company many things they need to know. I don't know that my long time friend would get involved in that, but that person knows things that would be valuable to the company. I wish for the sake of the seniors, past employees would speak up, but like my friend, they have left and probably never think about the place.

Would be cool if they had a drug bust there. People don't think of a retirement community having stoners there. I hope some of ya'll are wrong. Poor old folks.

That actually (sorta) happened. A known felon on drug charges, Kelly oxendine, was taken down there. Feds came into the building while she was working and caught her and took her away. Tell me how that is good for fragile, seniors to witness. Of course then they lied to them and didn't tell them what really happened. Then, get this! The day the article was in the tribune star, they didn't deliver the paper to any of the residents and took them all so they couldn't see the article and lied to them and told them they didn't show up that day. Sad. Sad. Sad.

I cannot agree more with everything you've stated, and to the best of my knowledge, there is much factual information there, too. However, the director and "assistants"/ marketing/ admission directors have all been turned over and kicked out the door. There has been three directors and three individuals in the other position in the last three years. They are currently on the 4th "assistant" position. These people get involved, find out the truth and either leave before they get too involved or get shoved out the door when they don't want to go along with the actions and behaviors of others. During a recent visit to the facility I actually had conversations with a few residents who made comments about their uneasiness with the place, this new management staff and worries they had about the stability of the place. My heart breaks for these seniors, knowing it weighs on their little hearts and minds, but they are too afraid to question it too loudly.

And as far as employees, it seems that either they are in and out and through the system in no time at all or the other end of the spectrum, and they have been there for 10+ years. I would think the ones in that category would want better for the place since they have so much history there, but why are they so afraid to speak up to the parent company? Retaliation? Maybe that's what happened to the others?

I'm sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. I contacted my friend and ask about the things you mentioned. Naturally my friend doesn't keep up with the latest gossip about the company. However about a year ago someone approached my friend and gave them the low down. At that time 2 of the long term employees were still there. One, in her opinion is the biggest problem. My friend isn't interested in speaking out because they did before they left their position. The company offered my friend a transfer to another location, but 2 companies had already offered my friend a good job. My friend took one of those jobs that had been offered and has been happy with that company for many years. My friend felt that what was said at the time was enough and that there is no more obligation to them to do more now. That person is outspoken when needed and let's say doesn't bow down to anyone. Sometimes just as in my friends case, you do what you have to do and then move on. I do remember pleading with my friend to get out of that job.The spouse and children ask the same. I feel my friend was dedicated for too long, but it was my friend's decision. The only thing I suppose I can suggest and this is only my thoughts and opinion, is for those who believe there is danger to the residents or whatever to take the necessary action. I would if I were in the same position. Otherwise if something horrible does happen, those who knew will be indirectly involved. I would at least try to make it better. I will say that I would witness everything first hand, because unfortunately people sometimes exaggerate and right out lie. You might hear many rumors, too. I believe my friend since it has been a long term friendship, and I know that person to be as honest as the day is long. You, however should be careful. According to my friend the 'front desk' and 'break room' is not the best source of information. They suggest only listening to the residents. Alright, I hope someone like you takes some immediate action for those dear people. They are worth it.

Oh, I don't want the seniors upset. I think is good they did get rid of the person you named.

The company can lie for a short time but the seniors will figure out things. What about kids of the seniors? Some must have read that article. Things don't add up but I think you are telling the truth. Help bust the bad workers.
