There seems to be a discussion about the comparative intelligence of the two candidates. Romney just went to Stanford, while Obama, being an African American, got a free ride at Harvard. And that supposedly means that Obama is smarter, without considering the fact that a person with Obama's racial profile would receive every single benefit of the doubt and all the scholarships and freebies available.

The playing field needs to be leveled. The fact that Obama went to an Ivy League School does not, in itself, qualify him to be president. It just means that as the black son of a single mother he qualified for a whole lot of freebies.

And, guess what. He is not one bit smarter than Romney.

You are so... well....steet smart! Some people are blinded by "his" charm...they don't look into Obama and his "misting " powers. He is like the "flavor of the month' to so many who know nothing at all about what is going on. I am hoping other swill "wake up" before it is too late!.

To street smarts- Sometimes i feel that Obama also has the "Chicago Machine and Muscle " behind him.Much as first Mayor Daley had years ago.
What is your take on that ?

Obama never held a public office in chicago. Rahm Emmanuel is a bulldog, for sure, but its not accurate to call Obama a career politician from Chicago.

And getting into Harvard is still quite hard, even if you're black.:-P

Also, there's no affirmative action for becoming editor of the Harvard Law Review - he did that all by himself.

Free ride at Harvard? It took him a very long time to pay off his student loans. He didn't get a free ride, he utilized scholarships and loans.

He lived in Chicago when he was elected to the Illinois state senate. His election was backed by some of the most influential politicians in Chicago. I'd say to claim that Obama is a career politician is a very accurate statement. Also the claim that he has the Chicago machine behind him is also a very true statement; the friends he made through his community activities in Chicago and his job as a teacher at the university coupled with all of the important contacts he made through Michelle ensure that he will always have very powerful friends in Chicago.

Rick Santorum thinks so! "Smart people will never be on the side of conservatives". To me, that say's Rick thinks all conservatives are dumb.

Once you cut through the rhetoric all you have are trolls claiming that education should only be for those from wealthy families.

Both candidates are multimillionaires. Neither candidate has much in common with the average American.

You are absolutely right!
Reps and Dems have become so similar anymore to the point where there aren't too many differences left between them. It's gets more and more like watching a football game everyday.

As the cliché says, "I don't want Democrats in the boardroom and I don't want Republicans in the bedroom."

actually he did get a scholarship that is only given to foreign students but since his records are sealed we don't know if he lied about his national origin on the application, which is a felony, or if he is really not a natural born citizen.

Lot of misinformation here. Romney did his undergrad studies at Brigham Young. Later, he attended Harvard and got his law degree and his MBA at the same time - yes you read that right. We never hear about what a genius he is, though do we? Ever heard of anyone getting an MBA and a law degree from harvard concurrently? Media never mentions it.

As to Obama, he WAS president of the Law Revue, but that was after the LR despensed with the practice of that honor going to the top student. Obama was elected in what was essentially a popularity contest, so it does not reflect on his intelligence. Once graduated, he barely practiced law. In fact, he made a living as a partime teacher at U of Chicago law school, where he made about $25K a year and got about $80K a year as a state legilator, where he had an undistinguished 8-year career.

Obama has gone through life getting by on his alleged charm and the myth of his genius - which essentially was bestowed on him by racists who can't get over the fact that a Black man can speak english properly. "Gee, he doesn't speak like Snoop Dog, and he went to Harvard, so he must be a genius!" He's never done anything ingenius. He preferred a career in politics, where personality can get you by, rather than law, which requires some very hard work.

Great post Mike. Most people don't even realize that Romney received his JD and MBA from Harvard concurrently... Very, very impressive. In my opinion, President Obama's resume is far less impressive. Still most people assume he is more intelligent just because he reads a Teleprompter with a little more pizazz.

Didn't Bush graduate from Yale AND Harvard Business School? So if you measure intelligence by degrees, wouldn't that make Bush smarter than both Romney and Obama?

he got into Yale and Harvard, because of who he was. Romney and Obama are both smarter than Bush. Bush maybe the least intelligent POTUS we have ever had.

I disagree. I'm not necessarily a Bush fan, but if I had to guess the least intelligent US president my choice would be Grant.

Obama never had a job where he earned his money (taxpayer funded) Romney earned his money in the private sector based on how he performed.
