A fight between several inmates occurred on the recreation yard at the High Component of the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute on Sunday.

The staff do their best with what they have. The last topix was pulled because someone whom was either admin or retired admin complained and had it pulled. Guess they didn't like what was being said and couldn't stand the heat.

Perhaps comments should only be made about ISSUES rather than personal attacks on persons that contribute comments. That's why things get pulled. Being a coward and making rude comments are not what this forum is supposed to be about.

While I admit some got out of control, and there were comments made that were out of line. For the most part though what was said was honest issues, and nothing that hasn't been brought up before, to the admin. Still it comes down to do we have the right to say what we think, or only say what the admin wants said? I think it is more people putting their heads in the sand not wanting to deal with the truth though.

It's all about proof. If you're going to say something accusatory, then you need to post the proof right along with it.

Proof you want proof unless you are on a need to know basis you will not get the proof, that is how the system works. if you speak out your at risk of losing A good paying job. Why you ask ? because we signed a form stating you are not allowed to talk to the press of any kind. Thats right big brother in charge, Wake Up People ! AND YOU WANT PROOF, HA! And where is the proof of what you just claimed?

It's really a simple processs: Say (write) something and at the same time provide irrefutable evidence that what you are saying (writing) is actually a fact. Not an opinion, feeling or hearsay, but an actual, legally defendable fact.

If you signed something like a confidentiality agreement or a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), then you had better honor it, or face the legal consequences such a breach would possibly generate.

Don't like being saddled by such agreements then don't sign them and get a job that doesn't come with such restrictions. Again...very simple and very effective.

I just don't get why people get on the various forums on the internet and think they can simply babble about things without having to prove what they are saying is accurate.

There is no way to prove it, unless that person gets on here and admits he had it pulled. Yet again there is a forum going strong, over a 100 responses from less then a week on, then over night it is all gone, as if it never was there. That in it's self says something.
Yes an agreement was signed saying that we would not put out certin info, that might cause a securtiy breach, or that we will not appear on the news making comments, that is for Public Affairs. What was being talked about though had nothing to do with any of the above, it was our issues with Admin, and how they put have failed to honor promises made. How they fail to ensure the safety of the officers, in favor of keep the inmates happy. Most the comments made here on this whole site are more opinions, frustrations, and disagreements then actual proof.

And therein lies the problem.

So many people think "free speech" is absolute. It isn't by any stretch of the imagination, nor was it intended to be.

Free speech is good up until the point it violates someone else's rights, violates the law, or violates some previously agreed upon private rules/regulations (ie. Topix Terms of Service, confidentiality agreement, non-disclosure agreement, etc...).

Remember, every single post on a Topix forum ackowledges the poster's agreement to those terms. I would encourage everyone to read them very carefully. They are VERY limiting...for good reason.

I doubt anyone from Topix reads every single post to find violations (that would take hundreds if not thousands of man hours each and every day), but they do have a mechanism in place for users to "report abuse". My guess is, if enough people report abuse of a certain post or thread, then they will review it for violations and take whatever action is deemed appropriate based on the remedies spelled out in the TOS.

the problem is the director of the FBOP refuses to admit that it is unsafe to work in a federal prison. this results in understaffing, as congress will not give us the money to hire more staff. We are currently at 4.97 staffing, the five largest states are at 3.33 per 100 inmates please read the directors testimony to congress,@cpl33.com to get the facts,he is sacrificing good staff do to his refusal to admit that it is unsafe to work in a federal prison. we need to have a united effort to get the message across that the prison in Terre Haute is no longer safe to work in

I agree with you. If people think a prison is safe to work in they either do not have family that work in prisons, or have no family that has ever been an inmate, or have never been in a prison...period.

You are correct, before you post a comment read the terms of service agreement. You know kinda like your credit card states in small print, be late with one payment and they charge you 35% interest. But instead TOPIX just cuts your THREAD (Discussion)Because one or two morons who might not even be employed for the BOP make rude comments. Hmmm! Its awful funny they would cut the entire thread why not cut the specific post from the knuckle heads who posted that particular (inappropriate) comment. All who read those degrading comments are in full agreement that there were 3 or 4 posts inappropriate. But why the entire thread? Yeah! Thats what I thought, Someone affiliated with the BOP "dropped you a few crumbs"

Man! I can't believe it I went to that website and its unbelievable my tax dollars support inept leadership like that. I mean I'd probable be nervous in front of Congress but to be "the man" and not be able to give them answers. I suspect if I stood before a judge and he wanted answers and I gave him that sort of testimony I'd be with you all 5-10 additional years. Keep fighting the fight

Another site I discovered during a Google search talks directly about this and the last threads real focus, Correctioal Officers Safety. Officer Rivera at the Attwater Correctional Prison gave the ultimate sacrifice his life. Why lack of protective equipment for Federal Correctional Officers across the U.S. And yes in our very own back yards. Visit www.kmph.com , a local newstation and click local news, scroll down and watch the videos about charges being filed against two prisoners for killing the officer, and the second video posts info about an organization in response to his death aimed at impoving Officer Safety. I couldn't believe it,(well I guess I can)the Prison spokesman refused to make any comments on Officer protective Equipment. Sick! Also I discovered that on August 12th 2008 hundreds of people gathered at the Federal Atwater Penitentiary in California to demand the safety of staff. In fact the family of Officer Rivera formed an organization "Effort for Prison Change" see the video. Google Officer Jose River, look at some of their discussion threads, a real eye opener for me. Folks from what I hear that is what's going on at the local prison right in our own back yards. Now I understand why the tensions on the previous posts. However I did notice that Congressman Jim Costa has presented legislagtion called "The Correctional Officers Safety Act. Where are our elected officials? Hello, Wabash Valley there is a story here! Proof, as someone wanted earlier, the age of the internet is here. Check the facts for yourself. To all the folks who work for the Feds, keep up the good work and watch your six.....

Finally there are some folks that are writing here that are talking about issues, rather than making personal comments about people. Good honest discussion works-demonizing people is classless and cowardly-exactly the opposite of what the BOP stands for. Remember your oath, be professional, and fight for what is right, but don't name call, surmize over who is who on this forum, and continue to talk about issues! If someone goes beyond the pale, put your name on it and man-up. Be careful out there!

This was so much fun when people were being unprofessional and making cowardly comments. It sucks now that everyone that was entertaining has left. You cannot accomplish anything on here anyway. At least with the other thread we had people talking. We need more posts that bash administation. If they pull the thread, start a new one. All thats left is a few bitches that want to cuddle with each other.
