Back in May of 2008, my daughter was returning from college in Ohio, and her car (03 Chevy Blazer) overheated badly on I-70. It was towed to Sycamore Chevy and left with the service department. I got a call from the service manager after they got a look at it, and he said it needed a new engine, finding antifreeze in the motor oil, and some other indicators proffered as signs of a blown engine. The quote for a used engine was $2700 and $4800 for a remanufactured engine.
I had a mechanic friend talk to this service guy, and he came away with the impression that something was not right about the whole situation. I got a U-Haul car trailer and brought the car home. Getting the car home, we initially found no antifreeze in the oil, etc, etc, and it ran pretty much like it used to, a 5 year old car with 125,xxx miles on it. A few days ago, we did in fact replace the head gasket, thermostat
and fan belt because it did overheat again on a 90+ day here in Saint Louis.
The whole point of this story, is they tried to take extreme advantage of some
body whose car broke down 200 miles from home, thinking they had us by the 'shorthairs'.
I got the car fixed for $650 bucks! The car is just like new again.
I would never reccomend this dealership for service work to anybody.
Not even on my Go-Kart!!!

We bought a Chevrolet Beretta early last year, knowing that it had problems with it. We then took the car to Sycamore Chevrolet for the purpose of diagnosing and repairing the car. After a thorough diagnosis, they seemed confident that they had identified the problem.

Knowing little about automotive repair, we allowed them to fix the problems that they had found.

We then picked up the car after the repairs and attempted to drive to another location to get a windshield. The car died and would not restart. We had driven 10 miles.

We had the car towed to Sycamore to find out what happened. They refused to pay the towing bill even after pointing out that the car would not run because of something they did (or didn't do).

The diagnosed the car once again and, this time, said that the car needed a new engine. The repairs for which we had paid were for engine repair in the first place--nearly 1400 dollars worth of engine repair. The quoted the price of getting and installing a new engine at 1700 dollars but later went down to 1300--which was less than what it cost us in the first place!

We told them to wait and we took the car (via tow truck) to another specialist who looked over both the current problems with the car as well as the invoice from what they had 'done' before. After a thorough diagnosis, it became apparent that nearly none of the repairs for which we had paid were actually done. The person to whom we took the car then proceeded to fix all the problems the car had for less than 700 dollars--including the problems that were caused by Sycamore Chevrolet's neglegence.

We eventually sued Sycamore Chevrolet for what they had charged us and settled out of court. I would never, ever recommend that anyone go to Sycamore Chevrolet for repairs. For that matter, I would not recommend them going there for any reason whatsoever.

The people at Sycamore were rude, far less than helpful, and disrespectful. It is my belief that they attempted to take advantage of us because the person paying for the repairs was female.

They are a bunch of low life scam artist and the general manager there is the worst one of them all. He is very rude to the customers. I think the owner needs to realize whats going on with his dealership before it gets ran into the ground. The car we bought had some trouble with it and they told us they would take care of everything before we bought it. So they supposely fixed it so we end up buying the car and less then a week later it was doing the same thing, called them and they said the warrenty was up and it would cost another 600 dollars to fix it again. The sales man aren't much better very rude and half the time smells like they have been drinking.

What car dealership isn't a ripoff?

They take cars in on trade that are shitboxes and try and pawn them off on unsuspecting customers! The real bad cars get auctioned off at Wolfe's and the buy-here pay-here guys gobble them up.

Capitalism at its best!!

Wolfe's Auto Auction!

Now that's a hell of business in itself! They could make a fortune sucking up the oil off the cement that runs out of those smokers every Tuesday.

Home of the $1000 junker!!!

yea most of the are rip offs but Sycamore is the worst one i have seen in a long time. The service dept. don't know how to work on cars, and the body shop just don't even bother wasting your time dealing with that either. The sales man and the managers are all very rude and sometimes just down right hateful. I had my kids in there getting the oil changed one day and all i heard from the sales man was cusing, now thats away to do buisness with kids around. Come On Dennis get things straightened out before you lose all your customers. I won't buy another vehicle there till you get ride of some of the sales man and managers and i have bought all my vehicles through you but not anymore. Go to Auto House they know how to take care of you and thats where the good manager from Sycamore went to so go see him he will help you.

He is very rude and abbusive to females. Watch out around him. My wife and I where in there looking at the new cube. We finally left due to the salesman being very rude with us and Mr. Tucker not being any better. So we went to another dealership and found a vehicle at a much better price and didn't have to deal with idiots at Sycamore.

LMAO!!!! I bought a vehicle from there that didn't last long. My parents bought one that ended up with some problems. My husbands cousin took a car she bought there in to get fixed and the "mechanics" blew up the engine and they didn't want to replace it. It's a fine place to get ripped off!!!! Go there and waste your money.
