I don't know the whole story but I find it difficult to belive that Dr Drake did anything wrong. He has a heart of gold. I have a friend that goes to him and he has treats her like he would his own family.

This is not Dr. Davis' home. This is Dr. Bittar's home. What does this have to do with anything?

Usually the AG's office come in when the Dr has been billing Medicare and others improperly. Many times it goes undetected by patients and doesn't have anything to do with quality of care.
Chiropractors in NW IN were pinched years back for bringing in bus loads of kids from the projects for "consultations." Many patients were rewarded with money, shoes, electronics, etc. for bringing a friend.
I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it does sound like it could be fraud.

Gee, could it be an idiot problem with Providence's billing department? The physicians don't do their own billing, providence does.

It always amuses me that people with a little information and a little upstairs want to postulate some elaborate conspiracy theory.

I don't know what happened but we will find out soon enough. I can say that several years ago I interviewed for a job in the billing department and the person that did the interviewing was clueless. I could not get out of there fast enough!

The billing department bills what the Doctor marks on the form to be billed.

My own doctor writes so sloppy I have to tell the pharmacy what the script is for.

I've never seen Dr. Davis, but there seems to be a lot of his patients that like him.

This will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Believe it or not sometimes the government is wrong. I would assume the AG's office had their ducks in a row, but still not all of their investigations end with a conviction.

I'm speculating that is involving Narcotics also. The New's said DTF was involved in the search..I could just bet anything that's what started this mess you wait n see..but maybe not..but why would the Drug Task Force be there also?

That is what I have been trying to tell people, Providence has a terrible billing system. Dr Davis does some very expensive treatments and a small billing problem could be huge in this case.

Having worked in the field of medical billing I can truthfully say it's tricky. Most doctor's offices don't do their own billing. It's either outsourced or if they are associated with a clinic like UAP/aps or Providence there is a billing department who handles that. If it is really a billing error it will come out but if he is charging for treatment not given or abuse of narcotics he could be in big trouble.

I have talked to people at Providence since we know many Drs there and they all feel he will be cleared. He may of just had problems with the codes he was using and will have to reimburse if money is owed and maybe ace a fine for negligence but in no way do they feel there will be any criminal liability.

How many times have you seen a narcotics team raid an office for Medicare fraud or improper billing? Put 2 and 2 together here people

BS is a good name for you since you are full of it. This has nothing to do with over or illegally prescribing narcotics. Being a rheumatologist he is naturally going to prescribe more narcotics than a family practice, GP,Internist ect... his practice would be more in line with a pain clinic and arthritis IV treatment which is very expensive. The infusion treatments would make him more of a target if there are mistakes because of the amount of reimbursement involved since a treatment can run as much as $7000. This case is with Medicaid reimbursements and narc agents were not involved except for the fact they used them to help retrieve the files and used their investigative sources.

BS you don't have a clue!!! Dr Davis is a very good physician and even does random drug testing for people he has prescribed narcs to. That doesn't sound like a peddler to me.

You might try using a little common sense before you start blowing off.

There was no narcotics team, it was the Medicaid fraud Dept.
