A better question (re: Mr. Daniggelis' letter) is why people who cannot afford to take care of their pets insist on having them at all. Part of being a responsible pet owner is ensuring that your pet is steralized, vaccinated, and treated properly. It is nice that the Pet Care-a-Van exists since not all people can be logical about the responsibilities pet ownership entails, so I think it is perfectly fine for them to require income verification. If you cannot prove you need assistance, why should you receive free stuff? Spaying and neutering your pets is an important societal responsibility and it should be budgeted PRIOR to buying or taking in a pet. For those people who think they should be handed everything at no cost to them, good thing programs like this exist.
