It never ceases to amaze me how deep-rooted ignorance can be. To label this sort of hateful and discriminatory opposition to equality and fairness as "traditional family values" is incomprehensible.

I would very hate for these bigots to be denied a service or benefit because of their sexual orientation and or marital status. Your life is not more precious than anyone else's. Your spouse is not more worthy than anyone else's committed partner. Get over this idea that only you have the right to exist and enjoy the protections of the law.

Traditional family values prevail in all our families: treat each other with love, respect, and dignity. What you choose do you in your bedroom is no one's business.

Still these clowns are harassing City Council about this issue. They don't even work for the city. In fact, their church doesn't even pay taxes. Forget all the "moral" arguments. These people seriously need to get lives or jobs.

If these people are "GIVEN" these benifits, which they should not get where will it end? They will then want the benefits extended to children, parents, nieces, nephews, etc... because they live in their house. Stop trying to leach off of the system, live a moral and correct lifestyle and work for what you want in life. If you choose an alternative lifestyle do not expect to receive traditional treatment!!!

"ignorance" at its finest>>>> who decided what a traditional family is and what traditional family values are( how about divorce not very traditional)? Or that you have more morals than I do, please? Do not involve any religion or church in this , this is not what its about...it about equal protection and rights under our constitution. I might not agree with the life style(and I DONT)but every person shall and will be treated the same no matter what.... For the first time in our "modern usa society" we find our
selfs taking away rights of others , just because we dont have the same "Beliefs", "Morals", or "Traditional Values" as set up by others..wow...Scary......its a long way down.

Remember seperate but equal, that does not work in a socialized society. A reminder to all those who oppose providing benefits to unmarried partners: The same constitution that allows you the right to protest and practice your religion is the same one that guarantees all members of our society equal treatment under the law. Stop trampling and pandering our constitutional rights to religious freaks. Your own sons or daughters will suffer greatly because of your relegious zeal. Stop it already, we are all created equal. The worst thing is that this just proves what a hollow and dark heart some people have developed all in the name of GOD. Shame on all El Pasoans who petition, rally and defend bigotry and hate.

This is known as bigamy, ask your three girlfriends who needs it most. It's available to the lucky one you just got to choose.

I love El Paso...but sometimes there are groups of people, like these, that make it hard to defend. There are large sectors of the population that still live in the dark ages.

No. Very specific requirements are in place for anyone to be able to claim a partner for these benefits. There, I did your research for you.

Also, I've still never heard a legitimate argument for how gay marriage would negatively impact the marriage that I have with my wife. I assure you all, that it would not.

Just a bunch of hateful religous freaks.

This quote from a surviving El Paso Hollocaust Victim

"Having the museum in our community is very important. The museum is educating our visitors that prejudice, bigotry and hate do destroy a civilized society," Kellen said.

It is particularly vital, he added, to get the message to young people.

In today's El Paso Times.

Get it now, what if we rally to change the constitution to not allow any type of religions, which are always the main core of any dispute or any war

The terms under which a domestic partner would qualify for benefits is very strict (like owning property together or cohabitating long enough to constitute common law marriage). It will also only cover a small percentage so I don't see how there should be a problem..

Most of the people would be straight anyway. The real facts of this should be printed in the paper.

Someone who pimps (better watch those STD's because no one else is going to be covered)themselves with three girlfriends (regardless of your profession) and they all stay at your house DON'T qualify.

The criteria ,finances, and TIME frame are very strict to get benefits.

What a bunch of fools are blogging here today.

But the bible says it's ok:

Hosea 3:1
Then said the Lord unto me, God yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress.

I bet at least half of those signatures are from divorcees. Afterall half of traditional marriages end in divorce. Then you have benefits in the name of child support even if it was the mother who decided to leave. Yet I don't see a single group protesting this. So much for the sanctity of traditional marriage.

I find it appalling that a person such as Tom Brown is one of the leaders in this propaganda against equal rights.

Years ago I attended his church and was surprised at how candidly members of his congregation would speak of Mr. Brown's extra marital affairs. If adultery is not detrimental to family values, then I don’t see why Mr. Brown should have anything against benefits being extended to these 45 city employees. For all we know these are employees in committed relationships, the same way he is committed to his "soul mate" as he calls his wife.(the one he cheated on of course)

To me that is just a propaganda of hate.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
