The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties rip-off, dishonest agency - Collection agency
Beware of "The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties" ... Pure rip off, dishonest collection agency…
This company is set out to ruin people's credit reports besides collecting for their clients, even if the collection is a fraud issue, they still try to collect from people.
They send out false collection statements and lie in court on serving papers to wrong address's.
They have misleading lawyers who don't care to mediate but seek rip-off fees for legal services.
What they do is collect and hope for litigation that you don't respond or if you never responded even if you have a different address, they seek full payments on top of their clients requested amount. Meaning if you have a $320.00 bill, they notify you at a different address, they give you 60 days, you don't respond, they take litigation and pursue full collection fees on their part and add 50% or greater to the original amount.
They have inter personal skills to act sharks over the phone and they love to call back and start a harassment campaign. If you have an issue with them, tell them you are monitoring their calls and if you have a debt, go to merchant where the debt came from even if you have an issue with that company, report to them how bad The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties was with you, tell them you don’t trust them. If you owe something, make a small payment and dispute the debt but not with The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties, only with the merchant but please dispute your debt with the merchant. All The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties wants is their commission, they will do anything for money in their pockets.
They use your credit report as a weapon and they will mention your credit report in the conversion.
Beware of them threatening you about your credit report and what they will do with it. Report them to the Federal Trade Commission and also on the do not call list with the Federal Communication Commission.
If The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties has your account, make payments to the merchant instead, however if there is a settlement offer, get it in writing and if you pay, pay with a money order and sent it certified mail only. Giving your Visa number or check number over the phone, they can take more than disputed out of it. Don’t trust The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara Counties as these people are very hard to deal with. They want your banking routing number, this is a trap, beware of this method. Also your home address, they will use tactics to get their money, so always use a PO Box and money order, with all collection agencies and always certify your mail when sending your money. You need to document everything; these people will call people searching for money or your location information. If you write to them, do expect any written correspondence, they do not write back. They do not tell you their polices either, they will tell you, you have no business knowing about their policy's is what your hear from them. The more you ask the ruder they get with you.
I found this collection agency on the bad customer service list and reports about them online. If you have an issue with this company please notify the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. They use bad business practices and no one should have to deal with agencies like this.
They do not listen to the people they collect from, even there is enough information their client is wrong, they want they 40% commission or more.

To Kate Smith,
I have been in touch with the Lompoc Hospital and called you and told you I was paying them. I don't think collection threatening letters are necessary. I'm sorry that the hospital has not contacted you about this. I will try to call you tomorrow and let you know what's going on. I spoke with Maria , in billing today, and let her know what's going on with our finances. I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

This company is bad news everybody, call the FTC and complain about your TRW if they hold your account, they will damage your credit report.

It sounds like you describing most of the collection agency. They are all aggressive and rude. But, this is how they think they will get you and your money. They know, that some people try to avoid dealing with collection agencies, and will respond right away to abstain from affecting their credit report.
Also, their aggressiveness comes from their own experiences, because people who owe the money will hang up on them, or just tell them off. Not the job anyone wants. But, of course their commission motivates them to go forward.
I reside in Los Angeles County, so I guess I can not comment on what is going on in SLO.
However, I am sure these Credit Bureaus have to follow specific guidelines in regards to harassment and some issues you have experienced that goes across the board.
And, most importantly you have to know your rights as well.

I was homeless when I started getting calls from them, left the state for 6 mos for a family emergency, was apparently getting letters sent to an inactive PO Box for over 6 mos while I was in residing in another state, am still homeless, faxed everything to them in Feb, told them the original contract had been cancelled way within the required time frame...its a long, convoluted story. Bottom line - they are wrong any way you look at it. I contact the FTC and am still asking for a response. Received an acknowledgement from FTC 6 mos ago, just no response. How can they take nothing from homeless?

If you owe a bill pay it and you won't have to deal with a collection agency. If you can't pay in full make payments and you won't end up in a collection agency. If you are a dead beat who does nothing you just get what you deserve!!!

The debt was never validated. They sent bogus papers to employer for garnish anyway. Employer never checked it outwith courts. Now I am out 200% on a debt I never owed. Who is the deadbeat here?Me or the CBSLO?

Collection agencies buy old unpaid bills by the box loads. They usually pay about $10.00 to $20.00 max for for your old bill,(usually only $10.00) barter them- offer what you can pay and get rid of the bills.
They don't need to be vultures, don't let them!
At least eagles work for their food, vultures just pick at the innards!

The Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo is a total ripoff. I finally made an offer and settled with them but what they did to my credit report was even more painful. They made a lot of profit from me and the owner of Credit Bureau of San Luis Obispo also ran like a brandit to. He is a real scam artist and doesn't give a crap for the recession economy or the number of record job losses. All he wants is his money, they take 40% commission and they don't care if you paid off the account with the merchant, they will still ask for their share. This company is nothing but crooked to deal with.

Working Dad...what exactly are you here commenting on? You slam working moms and don't even explain your foul mood. I hope that disposition improves with time.

It is a collections company, this is what they do. It is not their job to ask about the collections issue, their job is to collect on it. If you have a warrant out for your arrest, are you going to blame and slam the police agency that arrests you and the officer that does his job?
I am using this service because people owe my business thousands of dollars. I hand it over to them and they deal with the people. All you people are telling me here is that this company does their job. Thank you for your comments here.

I'm not too fond of Collection Agencies either, but lets be real here. If you owe a business for merchandise or services, Pay the bill. Collection agencies are hired by companies after the servicer has made several attempts to collect from you. They send you an invoice, then follow up invoices as a reminder, then a warning letter that your billing will be sent to a collection agency. All this is done before a collection agency is given the collection job.
Once your bill goes into collections, that's it. What ever they need to do to collect what you owe,is up to them.
If you keep ignoring their attempts to collect, they can report you to the credit bureaus that effects your credit rating.
Some credit collection agencies will work with you too to help you pay off your debt. If you communicate with them instead of ignoring them.
I've been there and done that, so I'm not just talking about something I don't know nothing about.
I suggest if you can't pay a bill, call the business and let them know what the problem is. Most businesses will work out some kind of arrangement with you.

I am a collection agent. I call you if you owe money. I listen to you. If you cannot pay your money and have a good and reasonable explanation, I go on to the next guy. I do not make money by arguing with you. Unfortunately there are idiots in the business that do this, and agencys that encourage it. To those who have dealt with these poeple, I am sorry. I make money by making an arangement if there is one to be made and not making you feel worse if there is nothing to give. We have all been there. Please dont get me wrong. If I find out you got that new car, or bought Honey a diamond ring, we will talk about that. Please dont let me find out you are in Jamacia on a vacation when you tell me your eating peanut butter for dinner. There are people in this world that just can't pay for a number of good reasons, and there are are people who just won't pay. Enough preaching, lets let all the wont pays comment on this one
