Lotto windfall blows into local retiree's life

A California Valley volunteer firefighter now holds the record for the county's largest lottery win in nearly two decades.
Ronald Roberson, 76, a retired Pepsi-Cola worker, walked out of A-1 Liquor in Templeton on Thursday with a Fantasy 5 ticket worth $362,830. His award-- the fourth-highest lottery win ever for San Luis Obispo County -- is the largest since a local man took home $2 million in 1988, said lottery spokeswoman Olga Gallardo.
'We have played the Fantasy 5 for many years and never won anything,' Roberson said Friday. He often bought $40 worth of tickets a week. Read more
