I missed all of his wisdom on the radio broadcast of the Gannon b-ball game last night. Always loved to hear about all the good friends he has and the coaches ass he kisses. So called number one sports guy in erie!

Jimmy is the guy who replaced my lily white liberal ass from 6am to 8 am M-F on WJET 1400 am radio. I was left with just one hour to spout my liberal crappola, while Jimmy entertains you with baseball card stories and 1950 Erie jockstaps. Apparently far more interesting then what I have to offer.

Seriously, would anyone one really miss him? Besides 60-year-old jock sniffers who pine for Erie circa 1965?

He appears to do all his show prep on the drive to the studio, and is eternally baffled by the simple operation of a mixing board. You'd think he just started broadcasting a few weeks ago from the sounds of it.

I remember when Jim first started sports talk radio many years ago. He supplanted others like Bill Shelly and Paul Chestnut ( who was awful ).
Back then LeChorchik was adamant over the air that if he ever grew stale or was big timing his callers he would immediately walk away. No way would he compromise himself and his dignity. That promise is obviously long forgotten.
Jim's work history is a litany of failure. He's tried just about everything and never lasted more than a few months. He's the classic Erie story. Uneducated and stuck in a meaningless job with no other options in life. Sad.

Kinda hard on the guy aren't you? Jim is not a bad guy. I do know him personally. We have little in common but we have always been friendly. He always has a nice smile and a nice hello. A media personality can easily be a lot worse (ever run into that arrogant Joey Stevens?).

In his defense, how much is there really to talk about? This isn't a real big town. Two hours a day trying to entertain folks? I read these posts. Most of you cannot entertain me for the 10 seconds it took to type your drivel. The guy has to try to do it 10 hours a week with very little material to work with.

He could be worse and he's not a bad guy. Anonymously bashing people is surely not attractive. Would any of you want someone to do that to you? Of course you wouldn't so why don't you stop doing it to people here? Talking about people's wives and mothers and children. It's worse than a pack of little old ladies in a knitting circle. Sure you have the freedom to do it but freedom needs to come with responsibility. You instead use your freedom to bring destruction to people's reputations.

I think Jimmy has woman issues. If anyone especially a woman raises issues regarding regarding women's issue. He bashes them and calls them an idiot. Maybe he is a homosexual in denial. Furthermore Jimmy thinks any person who through a ball, or plays is a great human being. Jimmy admits to not voting, and clearly has no idea of what he is talking about.

I hear ya, but at the same time I know people who think the word "through" means to propel through the air by a forward motion of the hand and arm when actually what they're talking about is "threw". And surely, we all know about the overuse of that ridiculous nonword "homophobe". Just saying, folks are human. There's no reason to be bashing folks publicly while remaining anonymous. It's like ducking down in the back of a crowd and yelling something at the guy or girl speaking on the podium. It's cowardly.

Sure, when someone puts themselves in the public eye and chooses to be a media personality they're going to be subject to certain critiques. Personal attacks should not be part of that equation ESPECIALLY when they're anonymous.

Aren't you special... Not only are you in the spelling police, you are a member of the civility squad. This is a public forum and people voice their opinions. You are being hypocritical of those whom have an opinion. I do not see your real name on your comments. Let me guess, you are also a graduate of Cathedral Prep?

.

Unless I'm paying their salaries with my taxes and they're acting irresponsibly you won't see me bashing named individuals and never will you see me bashing their families.

p.s. It wasn't your spelling. I think it would have been better if you had called me the vocabulary police.

Yeah, "kinda hard on the guy" is accurate. And you're right,Jim is not a bad guy. A a bit unusual and a "stuck in the past" guy, but not a bad guy.
There is one thing to remember however. Jim willingly accepts his public personna. He's put himself out there on air for decades giving his opinions as well as occasionaly bashing those who he feels are, in his own language...."jerks, idiots, morons, etc. And he absolutely professed that he would hang it up immediately if he ever got to the point of rambling on about the same old things or ever became condecending to his callers. We all know that Jimbo has crossed both those lines too many times to count. Not that he purposely plans to be rude. We both agree "he's a nice guy" but when you put it all out there and make a definitive statement like he did it goes with the territory when you get called on it.
Am I saying he needs to quit ? Not at all, that's his or his management's call. Indeed, he has become a familiar voice for many of his dedicated but dwindling listeners.
I've had a few occasions to meet and talk with Jim over the years. Again, nice guy. But when you're on the public airways and make it a point to call out others, you need to expect the same scrutiny now and then. I'm sure he knows this. He doesn't need defenders coming to his rescue. He's a big boy. Besides, he willingly shares with his audience his trials and tribulations of past jobs, his crazy antics, the consequences, and failures in those endeavors. It's part of his "schtick" and what makes him a lovable loser. He's repeated many of these self deprecating stories for years.
Remember, Jim chose his position. It's one of being out in the open and he knows that. Meanwhile, Topix is an opinion format designed as an under cover site. We know this too and therefore take advantage of the protection it affords. We're "playing by the rules" aren't we ?
Consider this my admonishing friend, you could choose to break rank and set a shining example of bravery by revealing your true identity. But I won't hold my breath on that happening. We all enjoy spouting off and hiding behind our numerous pen names is all part of the fun and fantasy.

You makes some very good points. I guess he does call out others. I don't listen to him often but I believe I can recollect him doing as much. I stand corrected. You are correct about the rules. There are none. I guess I just don't like what goes on and consequently I should leave and that I will do.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply and best to you

p.s. Were I to stay I would not reveal my identity. Not because I'm ashamed of anything I've posted but because there are some unstable people here, especially the racially motivated. I've made a bit of an event out of criticizing them. The hateful hearts of some of these folks is disturbing, to say the least. I have a family. Y'all take care and enjoy that nice Erie summer we're hopefully getting ready to experience.
