There was once talk of making it a movie theater, but nothing came of it.

I'd love to see a small theatre there. It doesn't have to be huge like Douglasville. I'd also like to see some more places to eat show up in Bremen. Something besides fast food!

I think Bremen has enough population to support places like Longhorns etc., but until they loosen up and start granting licenses to pour liquer by the drink, no one will open one up.

Businesses have the ability to pour liquor by the drink. See Buckets, Juanitos, etc. It is simply a matter of the places locating here.

Isn't the reason Buckets can pour by the drink is because it is actually considered to be located in Carroll Co? I don't know this for certain, I am merely asking the question. It just seems like I have heard that mentioned before.

No curious, buckets is in HC. The reason they and anyone else can pour is because they serve food. there is a certain percentage of food that has to be sold versus the ammount of alcohol that can be served. its a wierd rule/law but thats how its done.

the carroll county line is at the top of the hill going towards I-20 and at pizza hut on old 27 if u were curious lol....

as far as the old ingles...it was goin to be a movie theatre but it got cancelled.

Since it is locally owned, I am sure they will be working hard to put something in this building. With the other stores in that shopping center, and the BBQ place, it would seem to be attractive for the right type of business.

Buckets is in the "entertainment district". Liquor by the drink has to be within that certain district. Or at least that was the way it was brought in... Things and laws may have been changed or been rewritten since then.(I do not think the ED would extend to the Old Ingles shopping center.

The problem is the towns people wont loosen up there is Honda lock in Bremen and Honda in Tallapoosa and other business but the chamber of commerce is only worried about local small business and not getting more bigger eating places and the fact the church people will also fight it. They hired a lady in bremen for future development a couple yrs back well not sure if she dosnt have the skill or she is going against the old school towns people.
Anyway if you all are looking for something better your barking up the wrong tree !

We can't keep a Captain D's open down by the interstate with all that traffic. A few years ago when the Lazy Donkey was the hottest place around they spent a lot of money remodeling a building downtown and brought in the Chef [Brother and co-owner] to run it. You had to wait an hour in Carrollton to get a table on Sat. night and in Bremen the place was deserted by 8 o'clock. Even if I could give away free shots, I wouldn't put up my life savings for a big name franchise in Bremen.

I'll tell you the reason the Captain D's closed down, the food sucked and so did the management. I went there a couple of times and the staff was incompetent, the place was filthy, and the food just wasn't good.

A movie theater might be good, but I would do maybe a budget/discount theater, 99 cents or $1 shows. Show movies that had just been out in the big theaters, and when their run is over, the budget theater could pick them up.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
