Review: AAMCO Transmissions

DO NOT EVER GO TO AAMCO. I went to aamco in Temecula because my check engine light was on and my transmission was not shifting smoothly. I was told by one of the employs that my transmission needed to be rebuilt at a cost of $2,700 plus additional parts. I was surprised because I drive an 07 Toyota Corolla that only had 85K miles on it. I asked what the engine code # was and called the Toyota dealer to see what they thought. I was told that that particular engine code had a service bulletin out on it that said that if that code popped up than chances are you have a faulty ECM or computer and the ECM needed to be replaced. I called aamco and explained to the employee what I had learned and told him to check the service bulletin. He then had the nerve to ask me "what is a service bulletin". This is Mechanic 101. Either this guy is an idiot or he was trying to rip me off for almost $3K. Toyota replace my ECM under warnty and it cost me $100 in labor. AMMCO WILL RIP YOU OFF. STAY AWAY. I will never go back to another Aamco.

Temecula AAMCO is awesome...Check engine light came on my Ford explorer. Explorers are notorious for transmission failure, so I was prepared to hear I needed a new trany. I went to AAMCO and Irene and Kent helped me and they are brilliant. My trany is fine, I had a vacuum leak and walked out paying under 400.00.

I have dealt with AAMCO San Bernardino getting a new transmission on a different car, and I love AAMCO. I would never allow the dealers to service my car..I have had many cars serviced by dealers mainly "Diamond Bar Honda" and service, pricing and overall mechanics on my vehicle were crap.

AAMCO deserves 10stars

Thanks for the info on AAMCO. Just wanted to point out that driving a ford in temecula, you are better off bringing it to a 7-11 then to Rancho ford. They might not fix it but at least 7-11 won't do MORE damage! Rancho is useless as are their ford products.

i have the transmission redone under warranty 4 times by aamco with the documents to prove it, they suck horribly bad. the called the cops on me one time because i said this was bullshit while talking to them in there office. well my tranny just went out again, guess what .. this time they are being sued. have fun temecula aamco

Please, be sure that you also report them to the BBB. Without consumer input, the BBB keeps them at an "A" rating. With your help and documentation, you can get to the regional and national corporate aamco operations as well.
I know how frustrating dealing with these deceitful operations are. Hang in there and please follow through!

About 6 years ago we had a young couple in my wifes daycare told us that aamco told them they needed a new transmission because it was leaking. I looked under their car and saw a leak from their transmission pan. I told him to go get a gasket and some fluid when he came back I put it on for him. 10 minutes and 10 dollars problem fixed. they were obviously preying on the couples lack of knowledge. Remember their commercial 1/2 of people dont need a new transmission. That means 1/2 are told they need a new transmission seems kind of high specially with so many just having low fluid or engine mimicing symptoms.
