I am speechless. Who do these KIDS really think they are. Where are the values and morals that are to be taught by the parents. This generation has truly lost that. Justice will prevail and hopefully this will be a lesson to the next person who tries to take matters in their own hands, which have proven to be deadly.

Questioned and Released? Is this a joke? Why are these little freaks not in jail where they belong. Minors, SO WHAT!!!

Yes this is sad, why is noone being charged. It will not bring her back, but punishment should be on the 17th year old girl and the ex-boyfriend. If they would have stayed away from her, she would be here. I feel for the Montufar family and the rest of the family. God be with you.

I am absolutely without words to express my dismay that Officals when finished questioning of the alleged brawls participants-though Minors, released them back into/onto Temecula's Community!!!!

In my opinion, said Officals must be held accountable for aiding-and-abetting the known Brawls participants when they engage, without any doubt, in their destruction of another Life-in the days, weeks, months to come!!!

If Temecula's residents can't count on their Officals to protect them, from known Juvenile Thugs operating in their midst-Who then can they call upon, California's State Police!?

I realize, that California is suffering under budget short-falls. But, an adequate and responsive Police Force is a basic need-just as food, clothing and housing, if public civility is to be maintained.

Where you there? Are you a police officer? Do you have all the information? I know I don't. If you do, then I'm quite sure you can sit and say how you feel the police didn't do their job. If you don't, then I would suggest you get all the facts before you place blame, especially on the police. Temecula police do a hell of a job keeping Temecula safe. I know for a fact they are investigating this horrible tragedy. Temecula does not fall short of having police protection. We have more than one officer per thousand residents, which is more than most cities. We have a low crime rate, and our police force is very proactive. They unfortunately had to be proactive in this situation to bring in a homicide team even when the girl was still alive. Do you know for a fact if these kids were "thugs"? Do you know these kids? Or were they kids having a stupid fight like kids do and something bad happened. Maybe it was gang releated and you can be sure if it was our police will handle their investigation the way they need to. The problem with society is that people place blame on everyone but who it really belongs and that's the real reason people get away with things - no one wants to take responsibility for themselves. I'm glad you're not a cop because you would jump to conclusions about what may have happened without getting all the facts and surely screw up an investigation. If you feel you can't count on Temecula's police, perhaps you should move - you'd be one less person for them to protect.

May she rest in peace. Paola was a friend of mine back in the 7th grade, and I remember her soooo clearly. She really wasn't the type of person to go looking for a fight, and she ALWAYS had a smile on her face. All of the National City community has been affected by this [she used to live in NC], and we will continue to keep her in our hearts. My condolences to the Montufar family.

The families involved are heartbroken over what has happened. This is a tragedy, please pray for the family who lost their daughter. Pray for the families involved. The facts are not being reported in the media or the newspaper. It should be the reporting agency’s responsibility to report accurate information before others are hurt over lies. This wasn’t a case of a young girl being viciously attacked. Her and her boyfriend went to the ex-boyfriend's street to fight. There is nothing is being said what involvement the girls' 18 yr old boyfriend had in this and that he pushed her to the ground after she have assaulted the other teen first. The other teen was defending herself. Out of respect for the family the others involved have not spoken out. The girl had a heart condition, as reported she had no physical signs of injury. It is highly likely the girl fainted from the adrenaline. IT IS A TRAGEDY. Please be responsible in what is reported.

Where Are The Police

The police in Temecula are a joke. They won't respond to calls, they refuse to arrest juveniles who are vandalizing or drinking. Why? Because they only want to write traffic tickets, all the fines go to the county. If the police actually did police work, county revenue would be down. I've never gotten a ticket, but I have caled them several times and they never showed up except when I caught two teens breaking car windows. It was my word against thiers, nothing happened; but they did have the parents pick them up because they were drunk.

All the ticket fines go to the area where the ticket is written. If it is in the City of Temecula, it goes to the city of Temecula. Quite saying lies about things that are not true. Go look at a copy of the city budget and you will see a line item for that money.

Typical crazed parent...if it is someone elses kid, they should be put in prison forever...if it is there kid, then it is police corruption and they were framed because their precious little "angel" would never do anything wrong.

Take off your rose colored glasses and look at the world (and your kids) without them.

If I lost my daughter to a situation like that....Someone is getting a 9mm slug to the skull. Right or wrong. These kids don't even know what the right thing is, they deserve nothing better than to be put to sleep.

The case is closed. People should call Temecula Police Dept if further information is wanted for clarification. There was no physical injury caused to this poor girl. She was sick with her heart, her heart failed. She initiated the fight with the other girl, she was never hit by anyone. People who are posting ugly comments should check the facts.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the Montufar Family..only God knows why this happened.
