I have read most of the posts and it sounds like complaining. Seriously, Why would a person with any common sense even open their doors to a salesman?

People get a life, They are just vacuum salesman. Geez!

You must be retarded. Do not brag about anything, learn how to spell and use GRAMMAR first, not grammer. Corporate, not coperate. Acheive, not acieve. Opportunity, not oppertunity. The list goes on. Just shut up and stop making yourself look stupid. Kirby rips people off. The only difference between you and them is that they are intelligent enough to figure it out.

BUUUUUUUUUUT!!!! They say that they are a cleaning company not a vacuum salesman. Can you understand that yet? The whole point to the post is to warn others of this.....And people are complaining because they were duped!

dictionary results for: salesman -- someone that sells goods, services, etc.

I still wouldn't fall for it myself but good luck all that.

Oh no, I just spelled english wrong. I suppose the "spell master" will say something about that. I guess "it" hasn't heard of missing a stroke while typing out stuff, but I'm sure the "master" will have an excuse...well not exactly an excuse since they are "perfect spellers"........

I worked for kirby.....I was very young and really wanted to work hard to make a living for myself. I had no money and wanted to get married soon with my fiance.(we are happily married now). I never sold one hahaha i was honest and my employer hated me and never paid me. I worked 80 hrs a day. I was made the trainer guy for the new demo applicants(who left and came quicker then flash once they knew they were being scammed). I was supposed to get payed 300 plus sales bonus from all sales. I think I made 600 dollars in three weeks working 80 hrs a day. I got them back though. I scammed them so bad and got about 2000 dollars from them saying I needed some bonus cash to get this big company involved to sign a contract with them for a bunch of kirbys. Needless to say I got the money and said simply sorry they werent interested and quit that day. Haha they kept saying that they were going to call the cops but i knew my boss was an addict so he quickly backed off. Yep the life of kirby was grand! I will always tell everyone i know stay away from kirby. Good vacuum but get ready for your life to be sucked out of you.

I just had an interview with J&L Distribution in Reno, Nevada this morning. Turns out they were Kirby Vacuums in disguise! When I called for the interview they said it would be “setting up appliances” in customers' homes… The first red flag was how many candidates showed up at the same time I was scheduled for. The office was very stark and ghetto fabulous. Cameron, the manager, was a fast talker in a cheap suit with pink shirt and tie. During our less than ten minute interview he did not even look at my cover letter and resume, nor bat a lash when I told him of my college education. The rest of the applicants looked like they were playing hooky from high school. Several times he was distracted from my seemingly annoying probing questions as a buxom blonde walked by his office window! He mentioned many different products, but the whole office was actually Kirby Vacuums. The experience was very amateur and cheesy. My gut feelings immediately told me that this place reeked of dishonesty. They promise $2,000 a month salary, but after reading all these posts, I am sure that includes way more than 40 hours a week. Sounds like the whole pay scale is the old bait and switch technique. As I drove away they were loading up the white vans with vacuums and young sucker employees. This guy is no spring chicken that fell off the turnip truck yesterday! I am so glad I found this and read about all the scams they pull on their customers and employees. I was just typing "Kirby Vacuums" into Google and immediately "Scams" popped up after the name! Thousands of hits and links under that should tell you something... Thanks everyone, especially the trash talking Kirby reps that exposed their selves as bitter shysters. Go try Amway or Vector Knives next!

Kirby has been around for years and it's a good vacuum cleaner, etc. If you cancelled your purchase and did not hear from them, then you should have called and faxed it as well.

Door to door sales people are not low life people, these are people trying to make a living instead of collecting unemployment.

Don't be so hard on your criticts to people. These people are just like you, learning their way in life. Most of these sales people are young and inexperience. Give people a chance just like you have been given a chance too.

In regards to Kirby, these are good vacuum cleaners and it's up to you whether you buy the vacuum cleaner or not. Sounds good and you like what you see, so you buy it, right?.

I bought a kirby vacuum a little less than a year ago and the stupid thing won't even pick up crumbs off the floor anymore. I will NEVER buy another. In fact, I might throw it away and go buy one at walmart...anything would be better than that thing.

O.K listen up honey I want to remain ?????? if you know what I mean. But I can help you get you money back or return the machine. I currently work for the Kirby in the south states.Yes you the customer gets ripped of and so do I th low sales rep who sold you the machine. Now I didn't sell you yours but still speaking for ALL and I mean ALL sales reps please fogive them we even get scamed by kirby an the *$#% over all of us trust me. but if you really want to return your machine it is a way or I should say ways to do so. now no one who is a sales rep for kirby anywhere knows this but me. You all have 1year to cancell. the first 3 days are just for notice of the distributors who sold the machine to you. the finance company can return the machine for you. Common sense would you buy a stranger a car who couldn't pay you back? No. Niether would the finace company. the kirby rep pleads with the finance company to get most people approved. If I say anymore I'm sure my manager will know it's me telling. I hope I gave you all a hint on returning. IT WILL WORK I STILL WORK FOR KIRBY TRUST ME I KNOW. I HATE SCAMERS SO IF YOU CANT PAY PLEASE READ THIS. BYE BYE....MR KIRBY

The ONLY thing a kirby suck-off has to combat you verbally with, is "Kirby's been around for 90 years, wah waah waah wah wah!!??!!"
EVERY SINGLE kirby freak says that same retarded phrase.
Kirby themselves can't be targeted for all the bullsh!t shady sales practices, because they don't sell them to the public. The independent distributor's sell them to the consumers. So of course Kirby, the manufacturer, is going to be around forever. They let the dumb@ss's do the dirty work, and take the falls.
But I will say this....generally, if a bad impression is left on a potential customer, its 90% not the sales people's fault. It's their boss/owner of that particular office.
The distributor's are the ones forcing these people to use shady sales practices, and dirty technique's to swindle someone out of their money. Not to mention, just getting a paycheck is next to impossible. These douche's will lie and cheat their way out of paying you.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, those vacuums that generally sell between $1k-$2k, are bought for $200-$400, according to how far down they are on the distributor totem pole.

If any of you ever get stuck with one of them in your house, just leave the room they're in, and call the police.
If they refuse to vacate after you tell them NO, let the police handle them. Using high pressure sales tactics and preying on weak minded individuals shouldn't be handled lightly.
Plus they have to obtain a "Solicitors License" from your particular City first. 95% of the time they are in a town, illegally.
If they are soliciting illegally, and the cops escort them out of town, there's a good chance that group won't return to that area.

I have a 10 month old son, and my boyfriend was recently let go from his last job. My boyfriend went to an orientation and one day training, thinking he was going to make a good salary. At the start of the first day of training a guy came in saying it was a scam and right away the man took him by his neck and threw him out of the room. They told my boyfriend he would need to visit 3 customers (who have called and made an appointment because they WANT to see the kirby demo) he told my boyfriend that he'd only work 6 hours a day. Well, each appointment was suppose to be 2 hours long. I don't see how he will only be working 6 hours, isn't there travel time? and that's only if the appointments are set up one after the other.

Well, he came back from training, googled kirby scams and we were amazed at how each story matched EXACTLY what the guys there said. They were very shady when he was interviewed and didn't give any information.

THEY WASTED MY BOYFRIENDS TIME AND PUT HIM BACK A WEEK AND A HALF OF FINDING A NEW JOB. I KNOW THE SCAMMERS AT THE BUSINESS ARE NOT GOING TO FEED MY SON.

They stuck a thing on my door with the number saying that if your number matched another number on there you win a prize, of course it did. They [A Samoan woman & a young teenage girl] came to my house and said ok, we're going to bring our stuff up. I said "the prize?" they said no, our product. I kept asking them what it was and they wouldn't tell me, I got so pissed I took my Kirby out my closet and said if you are going to sell me this, I already have one, can I have my prize, they said, sure. I got their number so I could order some bags next payday too. They disappeared and never came back. A few hours later the Samoian woman was back asking to use my phone WITHOUT my "prize" needless to say, I didn't get my bags from them.

What is said about what Kirby does to its "workers" is all true. They cover their butts good too. By making them sign agreements classifying them as independent contractors. An independent contractor is supposed to set their own hours, make their own appointments, sell their own vacuums.. Not Kirby.

I am an ex "dealer". I worked for the Icor Engineering" division of Kirby in Murrieta for 3 weeks. Not by choice, but for a lack of any better options in this economy. I am in my 40's, but the majority of the workers are in their late teens, or early 20's. Young, and dumb as they put it. Of the 30ish people in my training class i was the last one to say enough was enough. Yes i did not get paid ether. Despite the fact i sold one vacuum at a "lowball". I totally feel like crap for selling it, because of the tactics i was forced to use. What is done is done for me, and now i know better, but i feel sorry for the kids dupped into doing this. 12 to 15 hours a day, no breaks, and "supervisors" who make no secret what they think, or how they feel about you, and will stop at nothing to get the sale even if it means the dealer gets nothing.

All of this said the dealers, and door knockers should NOT be classified as independents, but as employees. They are stuck in a van for 12-15 hours a day with no control over where they go, or what they do. Most are too young to know any better.

What if anything can be done to ether shut these people down, or get some compensation?

Call came from GP Industies, I got a "gift" from my Aunt Marie.....
They would come the next day & give me two "gifts" services for scheduling so quickly. It would only take 45 minutes.
The young man that came out was very nice, & had learned his sales pitch from his manager.I did not object to the demonstration, as I know the salesperson gets credit from Kirby for completing it, BUT, it was geared to wear you down.....it kept repeating over & over the same things. I was polite, I listened from 11am to 12:45p, when I finally said," I want my "floor buffed" as promised", & skip the second "gift" of shampooing my rug, as you are out of time w/me. To say the least, my floor was wet & the foam was then extracted, but my floor was not "buffed". I feel I was scammed. I am sorry I followed through w/giving names of friends & neigbors. The Kirby company takes advantage of these young people. I agree w/LJJ from San Francisco, & in this recession, hardtimes are bad enough without the Kirby Company taking advantage of the young people, making them pay to sell their products!
Same on them!!!!
