Mr. and Mrs. James Vreeland, There are many of us in Tellico Village residents that want to Thank you for all your hard work trying to stop the HUGE unnecessary property tax increase. There are mean people like Jeannie Pilgrim making comments on this site against you and we wanted you to know that there are hundreds of people in the village that want to Thank You. This county waste and throws away more money than imaginable and now they want more of our money.

Unfortunately we have a sorry County Commissioner that does not care what the majority want, just what he wants. He is a very wealthy man and a tax increase means nothing to him. He is just another person like many in politics that "JUST DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT THE MAJORITY WANT". He is worthless.

Again we want to Thank both of you.

I too thank the Vreelands for exercizing their civic duty and involvement in the community.

NO ONE is MEAN for exercizing these rights whether you are in agreement or not. That is one of the great things about America.

What are you "Sybil"? You are the one that wrote this mean obnoxious posting;

Written by Jeannie Pilgrim "I just looked at public records. Mr. and Mrs. Vreeland own a home in Tellico Village assessed at ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

In my opinion - shame on you - if you can't afford the little increase you are going to get then you need to adjust your priorities. EDUCATION COMES FIRST.

Mrs. Pilgrim, you are absolutely nuts and quite the schizophrenic.

Yes, Yes, we really do want to thank Mr. and Mrs. James Vreeland for further degrading the reputation of those of us who live in the village. It has been years long struggle to for those of us who have lived here for years to overcome the stigma of being just a damn Yankees. Then folks like the Vreelands come along and set us back by years.

Not only have they destroyed the reputations of all villagers, they have also destroyed the reputation of the local tea party organization. A real toofer.

Last I checked the Vreelands were not elected to anything. I think they appointed themselves to be the supposed leaders of what they claim to be the majority. I can assure they do not represent me nor the majority of villagers.

Our commissioner Don Miller is now in his third term as the seventh district representative to county government. Obviously he has proven himself to represent the majority.

I don't attend all the meetings, that's what Don's there for. If he has heard all the facts and he felt the tax increase was needed, I trust he made the right decision. That's what I voted for him to do.

Haughty, arrogant people like the Vreelands and their ilk have done more damage to our community in a couple of months than all the good we have done for years. Nobody living in Tellico Village has ever paid such low taxes anywhere else we ever lived.

Thanks Don Miller for having the courage to stand against the vicious, vocal few who want to rule the world.

You DO NOT know me at all. I am not mean and I am certainly not a "bleeding heart liberal". My view on different policies are varied. What I wrote it not MEAN at all. If you think it is that is your own personal negative feeling. I believe in exercising my right as an American just as the Vreelands do.

Like I said all home appraisals are public record (is that Mean?). My infornmation has constantly been posted on here. Knowing that it is public information I did not call the poster mean. You obviously have an agenda with me - I would call that your personal problem.

Salagugi Way, you do not know Jim or Pandora so if I were you I would keep my mouth shut and my fingers off the key board. They do speak for the Village majority, Don, in this case does not.

Don represents the 7th distrit, not just the village. The 7th district has many children, including Tellico Village that will be attending the new Ft Loudoun Middle School.

Wait a minute! The first time De Village Don (Miller) ran for reelection the voting machines were rigged so votes for his opponent didn't register. We voted early and when I complained that my vote for his opponent would not register, the man in charge told me, "I don't know anything about any of this. I am not from this area." Similar complaints from the Tellico Village precinct finally roused the election commission to send someone out to "fix" the problem in the afternoon. To my knowledge, Miller has not had anyone oppose him since. Why bother when you know up front votes for you aren't going to be counted. Jeff Gagley, and his side kick, who is also on POA's payroll, now program the Loudon Co voting machines. I don't know if he programed the machines back when this known irregularity happened, But if the good ole boy elites did it back then there is a good chance they are still doing it now. And you thought your vote counted. It looks like Loudon County elections are nothing more than a dog and pony shows to fool you into thinking you are electing the people spending your money. Wake up people! Loudon County is corrupt. A taxpayer strike might get their attention.

Salagugi Way knows that the Vreeland's spoke against the school building fund. You have no right to shut anyone up.

Why didn't they bring the majority of the Village that agree with him to the meetings? They got 400 names on a petition. How many people live in the Village?

I am sure there would have been more signatures on the petition if people had known about it. All you have to do is canvas the interior sections, expecially the homes that show need of maintenance and upkeep, and you should be able to get pages of signatures. Next time let us know. I know a lot of people who would have signed it.

I have to agree with you. We too know several hundred people that would have signed the petition too. Next year they are planning another large tax increase on top of the 20 cents just passed for Phase II and there needs to be canvasing done in Tellico for signatures on the petition. I'll bet you could get 75% of the people to sign a petition to try and stop the planned doubling of our property taxes over the next 5 years. They plan to build ALL new schools throughout the county. Since Don Miller obviously does not give a damn about what the majority wants, things need to get a big tougher next year to try and stop this. My question is what did Don get for voting yes?

Everyone has the right to take part of the democratic process. That is very important to note, especially on this 4th of July.

The school building fund which would have required a tax hike has been on the County's agenda for 5 or 6 years. It has constantly been talked about in both local newspapers and the Village Connection. It has been on television news.

If you want to have your say you need to show up and do so. The Commission meetings are totally open - no business is discussed anywhere but in that meeting. They allow the public to speak and show great respect to them.

I believe that the building fund tax hike finally passed due to the hard work, passion and dedication of Lisa Russell, the Greenback School Board Representative. She got the people out.

Everyone of us have the ability to do the same.

Somebody on the Loudon Co topix has asked for low cost recipes for those of you who are going to have to tighten up you budget to keep from losing your house. I think they are going to distirbute them at the next Commission meeting. Heres a good one that my family likes.

Take on large can of fish flavored cat food. Add one beat egg and enough bread crumbs to make patty. Fry in lard or bacon drippins.

Listen Beauford! I'm a Lenoir City resident and native. I know the Vreelands. I also have no bias against "Yankees".
Fortunately, Jim and Pandora don't suffer from this codependent disorder you have confessed afflicts you: They don't have any need to run around squaking "Oh No! What do others think of me?! Oh no! Oh no!"
I you feel that need the problem is within you. Get help!

Jeannie, this is not meant to denigrate the constitution or deny your legal rights in any way. It is merely a request.
Would you please try shutting up once a day? Then once you get used to it could you try twice a day - maybe eventually work your way up to thrice daily?
