When a Negro child lags behind, why do they always have to blame "poverty"?

Does being poor has anything to do with learning abilities?

Does being poor, means the child is not having anything to eat?

I'll tell you what being "poor" means to me.

The child's parent(s) is barely, and poorly educated.

The child's parent(s) does NOT take that much interest in how well the child is doing in school.

The child's parent(s) never shows up at school to have a conference with the teachers, nor attends any PTA meeting.

Most "poor", poverty stricken children get FREE breakfast and lunch every day.

Most "poor" children get FREE school supplies.

Most "poor" children get free clothing.

Most "poor" children live in an apt, or home, subsidized by the federal government.

So please tell me once again, what does "poverty" has to do with a child's ability to learn.

This is just another "coverup" to hide the fact that most children doing poorly in school, are doing poorly because of LACK OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT!

Stop making excuses for "poor" parents!

No, it's not lack of parental involvement. Showing up at PTA meetings doesn't do anything to get education into the children. When I went to school the parents of all the kids didn't do squat. And those kids had better scores on standardized tests than the kids do today. There are three reasons that black and hispanic children don't do well. First, they are simply not as intelligent, on average, as white and Asian kids. Second, their culture devalues education. They admire rapers, gangsters, pimps and hoods. Studying and getting educated is almost like selling out to the white culture for them. Unfortunately, even some of the white kids have accepted that value system. Third, the violence of the environment that the black kids both produce and live in is detrimental to learning. I suppose you could, to some extent, place the blame for the third element on the parents.

Unfortunately, the percentage of the population in the US that is black and hispanic continues to grow. This means that our international rating on education will continue to fall and our postition as a world power will fall as well. China is graduating 50,000 engineers every year, and that number is growing. The US cannot match that. Our culture doesn't admire or value engineers or scientists. We are more likely to graduate massive numbers of psychologists, sociologists, political scientists, journalists and other professions that do little to improve our competitive position in the world. There is a very deterministic script that is written and is executing that will have our nation in a decline for a long time to come. Of course for its own reasons Europe is in a decline also. The center of world power is shifting to Asia.

Our international rating has already fell.
How in the world this country expects to lead the rest of the world in innovations is a mystery!

In the Asian culture, the child is expected to do well in his studies, and please his parents, in the USA, the parents are expected to have a hands off attitude in allow him to develop naturally. We can now see our "tree of learning" standards, is bearing bitter fruit.

The so-called "poverty stricken" kids will remain where they are,and will live a life of absolute poverty for the rest of their lives!

Who is really to blame?

The parents?

The child?

Or the decline of education?

"Or the decline of education?"

I'm not sure how much education has declined. Other nations do have kids spend more time in the classroom. But if you compare the US white and Asian kids against the best in the world, they look pretty good. It's only when you average everybody together that our international education rating begins to look bad.

The White and Asian kids in america are doing alright....the Blacks are once again lagging behind. This sounds like a broken record with them Blacks. Its sad considering a majority of Blacks didnt emigrate from other countries with their families unable to speak the language or understand the culture.

The proficiency of Black students is lacking as well, though few dare say why similar patterns emerge on every standardized test, LSAT, MCAT, SAT, ACT, military aptitude test or even the Wonderlic. Who knew No.2 pencils were capable of racism?

Some of the hillbilly racists commenting here have never seen how the public school systems in America works.

More money is given to predominately White schools, over the Black and Hispanic ones.

The White teachers in the Black and Hispanic schools are often the worse teachers, who simply go to collect a pay check.

And I've seen it, I'm not talking theory.

Poverty, racism, and unequal opportunity has ALWAYS negatively affected test scores all over the world. Including among White and Asian populations where negative conditions were allowed to fester and perpetuate themselves.

Test scored are boosted when the government cares, the community makes education a priority, and where equal opportunity exists.

America has become more of a "have" and "have not" society.

While the ignorant thumb their noses at the Blacks and Hispanics, claiming they are all welfare recipients (even though more Whites are on welfare), they stand idly by when BILLION DOLLAR GOVERNMENT WELFARE PAYMENTS were made to the Banks and Car industry. And then the CEOs and mangers received their bonuses from tax payer money...

The trick is making the White hillbilly moonshine drinker with no money, stand idly by while his rights are abused by the rich or corrupt politicians. Sit back in the busted dirty trailer making fun of the Blacks and Hispanics...

Yes it is a lack of parental involvement. If the arents were involved we would see alot of these issues diaappear.
