It used to be. I think the trick is to be very careful with whom you associate. Get involved in your community and meet good people.

Could you please be a little more specific on why it used to be and isn't now? I apologize for being so inquisitive but this is a big move for me and my family. Thank you

And don't get on there bad side are they will stick you like you have never been stuck. And really if you not from here that's exaclty how you are treated ,way should they care about outsider and that's who the law goes after in this town it's so small they take care of there own but they don't give a shit about outsider and you can take that to the bank.

Further more there is nothing for kids to do ,and they have no intention of building anything for the kids. They have a bad pill problem here and they could fix it but it seems to be nothing more then a money racket. If they were truly concerned about the problems you think buy now they would have fix it.Majority of the inmates in the jails were patients of these doctors so what that tell ya.I will be moving out of here as soon as i can.

The entertainment of your children is not up to someone else. If you feel that strongly that "they" have no intention of building anything for kids, you build something. By "they" I assume you mean the government. If so, you are a big part of the problem in this county and this country! You think the government should provide everything, right down to entertaining your children. The government has zero money, and as citizens it is up to us to choose the leaders who spend OUR money. Work for change instead of sitting around moaning about the problems. You should be ashamed of such a stupid comment

I appreciate both sides and opinions. There is a prescription drug abuse that has hit epic proportions in this nation as a whole. I do believe that children are our future leaders and I also believe that outsiders should be a byword in any community. It is sad to say that people are not treated as equals and I believe that people are important regardless of where they are placed or displaced from.My hearts desire is to see people unify and help each other to become all that they can be and their community. To turn the head and reject each other is not the way. Whether I move there or not I believe that change is eminent in every community if any of us are going to make this world a better place.I may not be able to change the entire world, but I can change my own sphere of influence if it is in my family only.To lose hope avails any of us nothing and the next generation will have to come behind us and clean up the mess or worsen the condition. The key is respect for each others difference of opinion and find common ground and build on that. If not, the ship will sink. Thank you for all of your opinions and sharing with me. You all are IMPORTANT to bring change.

No surprize that is what you took away from the post. To clarify your point, the saying goes, when you assume you make an ass of you and me. It seems your definition makes you an ass, as well.

I live in the middle of town, and would like to say that Tazewell is a beautiful small town.We have problems of course, but nothing as serious as other post seem to make things out to be,all small towns are struggling ,but not as bad as the larger cities.I feel like the town is heading in the right direction, and now we have some new leadership in place that I feel will make things better in the future...

I have lived here nearly all my life. Tazewell is what you make of it and for the most part it's not bad if you are retired and want nothing to do. There is no work here, poor to none on health care, streets are dirty and falling apart, nothing but fast food and they are nasty. Lots of churches but are mostly empty on Sunday, drug dealers all around, some selling for 20 years or more. Does have a "Y" but cost a lot and if you are not one of the special ones you want fit in. Lots of places to hunt and if you like to screw that is easy to pick up, males, females and gays. Very few specialty stores, generally it is Wal-mart and you have to drive 30 to get there. So you decide, it may be the place for you if you are healthy, don't like to do much but eat fast food, take pills, hunt and screw.
