Who owns that property? It was the bowling alley, then Deskins bought it, now it's a disastrous pile of rusty metal machinery and falling down fencing. Isn't anyone responsible for maintaining property in this place? If you know the owner please let me know, I will write him a letter asking why it's acceptable to him to leave that mess parked the way it is. There are houses around him and other businesses. Has he no pride? It's like the other end of town and Jack Harry's mess. I think people think they have money so it doesn't matter.

Hey, you, at the bowling alley(which used to be a fun place to spend time in town, but now there is nothing to do)tell me why you can junk the place up?!

Tazewell will never amount to anything as long as people like this stay in charge. I was out of town this week and it was so exciting to be somewhere that people are out walking, shopping, doing things! There is nothing to do here. Just drugs apparently.

so who is it? it looks like a pile of garbage. surely they are violating some codes. Clean it up. Stop making North Tazewell the butt of the region. If he pays taxes he should have some interest in keeping his property looking better than it does. Just give me his name- I will contact him.

I think that we have more to worry about in this town to who owns what property. ITS IS NOT YOURS!! ITS NOT YOUR PLACE TO SAY WHAT HAPPENS!!! Maybe some one should come to YOUR house and tell YOU what NEEDS to be changed! The shoe doesnt always fit so well on the other foot. WHEN YOU OWN IT, YOU CAN MAKE IT LOOK ANY WAY YOU WANT!

"Jus Sayin" is 'Just Trying' to stir trouble from her house on the hill and just like whocares says someone should come to your house and see the mess it is in - just look at how trashy your outside is. Clean up your own mess before you start tryig to cause trouble.

Back off Ben. I am speaking for the benefit of Tazewell. Having that trash heap be one of the first things you see when you come into North Tazewell doesn't present a very good picture. Whoever owns the own bowling alley needs to clean it up. They aren't they only ones in town - I have a list. If your house is junky (or your trailer) I will remark about it as well. Are there no codes that have to be adhered to in this county?

Tell your friend at the bowling alley that his falling in, rusted fence, coupled with that old equipment, looke like hell. I bet he wouldn't want to live next door to something like that, so why does he think it's okay that others have to look at his mess every day?

Ben? Who cares? ANSWER THAT. HE'S PROBABLY FROM WEST VIRGINIA.

Jus sayin, does your hand feel funny? It should being stuck so far up your spouses behind like that. I didn't know that your spouse was a puppet. But I guess when you have no backbone and can't stand up and say who you are and why you are, well, then I guess I can just come on here and talk trash about you and your spouse like you do everyone else. Get a life, please and if you want to have a real positive impact on Tazewell! MOVE AWAY! I hear Moscow is a real pleseant sort of place.

No I am fine with people exercising the First Amendment. I just don't think the right to exercise it should consist of so much crap coming out of people's mouth.

You should be able to go the the court house and look up the ownership of the property there. If this is important to you, this little leg work will be worth it to you

Yeah, what a shame the records aren't online. I just thought somebody had to know who owns this parcel. I remember when they put that power box in beside the building, next to McCall's - I thought that was a disgrace. Now look at the place. I wouldn't want to look at that every day.

I have seen mention of making North Tazewell a sort of antiques/resale center. It's already got a good start with what's already there. When the handouts come from the community centers there are people standing in line - a built in audience for resale shops. The ugly bowling alley property needs to be cleaned up, and then how about taking the train depot (who owns that?) and making it part of the whole antique environment. Jus thinkin outloud. It just seems selling old crap is one of the only businesses that is making it around here. We should get the flea market back up and going in town, not what is at the stock market right now. But let me guess, the town will have to have their 'piece' of the pie.

I have to say thank you for you all who have taken interest in discussing this. Are you aware of other "ugly" properties (commercial to begin with) that need cleaning up? My way of thinking is these parcels that people are greeted with are the first that need cleaning up. They represent Tazewell, hence the junk at West Main St - Jack Harry. Does he own that place yet or not?

Are their restrictions or codes that either the town or county have to abide by? If you know, please share. I doubt it though. Some place over in Horsepen doesn't present itself to people just driving into town. That is my point.

Then we can talk about motels and places to eat - before the spring "tourist" season starts up.

Maybe we should have a county-wide yard sale one day this summer, around a holiday (and the 3d of the month)? There is that one that extends through Kentucky and Tennessee - why can't we get one going here?

I also remember when the town wanted to restrict how many yard sales you could have each year. The town really needs to think about encouraging growth rather than taxing it. Heck, even Donnie's Place could have a special dinner during the county-wide yard sale.

Ideas? Please? Then let's find the people to listen to them! Look at Main Street - nothing there but lawyers and a couple of resturants and jewelry stores (love Lemon's) so why couldn't they promote something besides the Main Street Heritiage Festival (which they didn't even advertise). We could have something up there every week.

Okay. Thanks for listening!

The town owns the old railroad depot now and is looking for a grant to fix it up as the chamber of commerce offices.

The Chambers' offices? That's a joke. They can't even get their website maintained by a professional. Last summer I questioned why the Main Street festival wasn't updated at all (they had 2008 info) and was told the webmaster does it in exchange for a Chamber membership, and since he has a job of his own, he can't get to keeping the Champer site updated. This should give you a clue how the Chamber works. They give away a membership expecting nothing in return.

Chamber's aren't that important really. It's like complaining to the BBB-- you don't have to belong. What has the Chamber done lately anyway? I need to check out the administration and see if anything has changed in the last 15 years. Probably nothing or nobody new.

Didn't they want to promote tourism? Yeah, how's that going for them?

We can come up with ideas but most likely the heads of state will ignore them. If you have any ideas for "Commerce" around here, please put them up for us to talk about. There has to be an idea or two that could work well.
