What an ignorant statement! Do you homeschool your children? Assuming you have children. Surely no one would procreate with such an idiot!

<quoted text> that's insane! I'm glad your never tired and wish for an extra hour of sleep. That, in no way means they aren't dedicated when there. SOL scores speak about dedication. I sure wouldn't want to sit in a room of 25+ kids everyday. Worry about them, discipline them because their parents are worthless, and know your responsible for at least half of what they learn! I'm sure you never wish for a break from your " angel" right? Smh! Judge mental ppl! Way to go teachers. Thanks for all you do!
SOL scores definitely are NOT a sign of any ones dedication! Nearly one third of the school year is spent in review and preparation for those tests so that the teachers come out looking like they are teaching our kids something! Those tests do nothing for our childrens education. The time they spend on testing and preparing for those tests should be the least important part of the school year and more time should be spent actually learning new material, more material.

Wrong! Teachers do get paid when they are off during the summer!
The only way a teacher gets paid in the summer is if we opt to get 12 months of paychecks. We are only paid for 10 months...so that means less money each paycheck to cover the summer months.

The only way I've ever seen teacher get paid very well in this area is if they continue going to school & getting degrees & even then it's not that much extra. My Mom was a teacher & I can tell you she spent a ton of $$$ out of her own paycheck to buy supplies for her classroom & kids. She also had to take on a home-bound student to get a few extra bucks. She worked hard & her days seldom ended when the bell rang. Used to most of the teachers were pretty good. Always had a few that nobody liked but for the most part they would good, trust-worthy people. Now a days I just don't think that can be said. A lot of these younger women that are teaching now just don't seem to care one way or the other about their kids. I just don't get it. I mean if it's b/c of the pay then I say move somewhere else. Not all teachers get paid the same as the ones here in SWVA.

I don't know about you guys, but it seems like all of the good students loved their teachers and all of the slackers hated them....just saying. I have the utmost respect for teachers, they are overworked and underpaid and most of them have to go get on nerve medication to deal with the hellions that they are being sent every day.

Maybe if they spent more of their time teaching and not chasing the students around and offering better grades for favors the students could do for them it might help. I know that all the teachers are not like this but the few that do give all of you a bad name and a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe if the good teachers would report some of these misdoings it would stop. At some point the good teachers should stand up for these children and not worry about what will be said because they ratted them out. You here about all these teachers having sexual relations and getting pregnant by their students away from here. Some of the same misconduct happens here as well, it's just not talked about. I blame the good teachers as well as the bad one's because they should report any misconduct.

I cannot believe the teachers in this area. Facebook is full of prayers for late schedule for Tazewell County and one even was hoping for the roads to freeze so that schools would be on late schedule so they can sleep an extra two hours. Well I have to get up at my regular time and drive 28 miles to work, freeze or not. What happened to the dedication of teaching? Sounds to me like they just want to do enough to just get by.
