Because people in this podunk town are so close minded that when a team doesnt win after a year with a coach they force him to go. Give the team time to adjust and grow together. Someone around here needs to open their eyes and start making changes with how things work in the school system.

I would get the facts before making general assumptions about the reason for his demise.
Football was not the problem.

Keene was the biggest problem. The story about him texting a girl student had passed. He didn't want Keene helping with the team, and he was told too bad, Keene would be out there , so he quit.

I think Tommy Keene and Keith Hovis are just trying to ruin Tazewell Football. I wish they would just go to Richlands -the land that they love!

Tom Keen isn't the reason Tate is gone. Tate is the reason Tate is gone. Sad to say he isn't the role model so many had hoped he'd be. His poor choices and behavior are what led to his "resignation"-- and that's the truth. I hope he takes something positive from this experience, a lesson learned, perhaps. I wish him well and I hope the Bulldogs will rise above this.

Well said! If raising good people from leading by example is more important than winning at a sport then he definitely had to go. There are more important things to teach kids than winning but those kids got neither. No one wants a team to be successful more than the principal and the AD. It shows they made a wise choice in the hiring process, but I don't know if that's who hired him.

One thing is for sure---Tommy Keene and Mr. Hovis would never find new jobs where they don't do anything all day. I hope Richlands wants them----surely they could use a couple of losers

Blah blah....all the black people are gonna rally together for Tate......how surprising. I'm sure this will turn into a racial issue eventually, too.

I don't know what Tate did or did not do. However, it takes a while to build a solid program. Tazewell has no foundation upon which to build. A strong person must be found and then must be left in place for a minimum of 5 years to build that foundation. Plus, a winning team is planted years before high school. I know this won't be a popular opinion but Richlands has the right idea. They start with the 8-10 year olds, teaching the basics. Assistant coaches should not be volunteers, they should be a trained and paid part of the coaching staff. Parents must be kept off the field if you want to win. The few times Tazewell had winning programs in the past, the coaches were allowed to coach. Parents have hindered that. IMO.
