I just don't understand how the community is raising money for this project when we need to have a project to make the high school a safer place. Not to mention better the education in that school. Granted I know our athletics need a lot of improvement but we need to get our priorities straight! Let them train outside and at the YMCA until we get the more important things taken care of! Then we can focus on an athletic facility. My number one priority for my child and hopefully yours is to have a safe and healthy school to attend and get a great education for their future. Right now at Tazewell High School I don't feel like that is what they are receiving! Please let me know your thoughts and ideas!s

the education has always sucked at THS. if the teachers are not drunk or doing some sort of drug themselves, I can honestly same I am embarrassed to say I graduated from Tazewell High. I did stupid things myself while there but I can admit it I drank during school hours during gym class an coach knew an had a few himself. never could beat it so I just joined them. not ashamed to also admit I had sex with two teachers during school hours one female and one male hell was the years to experiment. an after speaking with several students from last year this is still going on just has got alittle worse

My thoughts are you're from Richlands and my idea is that you are trying to start trouble so piss off.

It's not rocket science to know what in Tazewell High School, we are over ridden with drugs, sex, tobacco, and other things that are illegal. We also know that athletics are always on top in Tazewell. People like Mr. Keith Hovis, and Dr. Larry Hypes push for projects like this, because they are only worried about being on the sidelines, or getting something to write about. A new facility is needed, but I do agree we should put money into a safer, cleaner school system. It's not fair to the students who participate in actual clubs, who will make something out of themselves someday. I'm not saying anything toward out atheletes, but most of them are on drugs as well. We need a change in Tazewell. Considering that we are all still breathing the asbestos that was stirred upon while out air conditioning was being installed (which half of them still don't work). I don't want to start trouble, I want to state facts. Bulldog all the way baby!

We don't need this facility at all... I will not be donating. We also need to concentrate on getting kids educated in a safe school first.

If anything THS needs to be torn down and rebuilt so it is safe for students and teachers both. I also understand sports are important to get kids away from drugs and getting in trouble but honestly it doesn't seem to be helping any. I think better education would be worth more in the long run rather than a place for the jocks to work out.

Your thoughts are very wrong! I hate to disappoint you! I am a parent of a child in the Tazewell School system and my only concern is to get him a good education in a healthy and safe schoo. So if you don't have anything productive to say you piss off and quit trying to start trouble!

They are not going to build a new high school till they have to and when they do it will be because the 3 county high schools are consolidated into a least 2 new high schools... When will this be? Who knows? But it's going to happen.. Yes education and the safety of the kids comes first, but our athletes training equipment is years behind everyone else.. So I do think this is a great idea, it could get more kids interested in sports and school and keep them off drugs and from quitting school... Something like this needed to be done back in the 90's when I was in school.... Our weight room was in the hallway to the cafeteria where I think they have In School Suspension now.... I'm all for it!

I agree with everyones post about safe, cleanier, and education, but i also agree that the athlectics are very very outdated and i think this will be a great addition to the High School. I went to THS in the 90's and we had all the troubles as they do now. People need to get off their high horse and just support these kids and so them we care about what they are doing in school. If your a parent then you know that its not just the teachers & kids job to do well in school, the parents have a big job in this by helping them with thier homework & its your job to instill decent morals, values and manners into your own childern & for them to know the difference between right & wrong. I have a child that is an athelete and is a A B student and loves learning. I say more power to ya, Let's Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!

Whats up with all the negitivity!!!! I bet if it was going up in Bluefield or Richlands you wouldn't hear all this junk being said!!! These people are giving these children something amazing thats just for them, let them have their shining moment and not destroy it with retarded comments. Yes there is drugs, alcohol, sex and God knows what else that goes on in ALL SCHOOLS. Be a supporter & be caring loving parents and your child will do fine in school. Wheather your a G-Men, Dawg, or a Tornado give your support to all the kids in school.
