Is anyone else having problems with Frontline just not working anymore? Can a dog become immune to it? I USED to be a believer in it but now? I'm infested and my dogs don't like it much either. Has anyone had the same problem? Have you switched to something else that is working? Anyone tried Advantix? Does it work? I've spent so much money on Frontline it isn't funny but no more... I refuse!

Fleas are highly adaptable little things. I have never had any luck with Frontline. Have your tried Trifexis? It is available by prescription from your vet. If you have an infestion in your home, go get Talstar and use it several times over a period of several months to kill the existing fleas and the ones that will emerge from the eggs over a few months.

If you want something OTC, Happy Jack spray is effective.

Yea I am going to take them on tomorrow to the vet (Crab Orchard) and talk with them about my options. It's crazy. Usually I can keep the dogs on Frontline and spray the yard once or twice a summer with Ortho crap and it[s no problem all summer but I swear they are bionic fleas this year. My poor dogs can't seem to find relief with the itchies and I hate it for them It makes me feel like a bad pet owner but shampoos and powders dont work for poop either. I'm pulling my hair out with this it's embarrassing when people come over too ya know......
Also I have heard of the Happy Jack line, isn't it at Southern States? I use to get there Brewers yeast tabs for the dogs and it worked well. Maybe i'll check out what they have before the vet so I can ask questions if I have any.
Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully we get some relief fast cause this sucks!!

Frontline stopped working for me as well. I switched to Comfortis for my dogs, and it's working great. Usually starts working within about 24 hours.

I too use Comfortis for my dog. She does feel bad for about 12 hours after she takes it but that is the only side effect she has.

This comfortis is that the one that is a daily pill dose? I was in there today (Crab Orchard)and they quoted me $8.00 per pill times two dogs (not including the puppy)Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Doctor (I didn't have an appointment and she'd just left) but I'll be talking with her tomorrow and see what she has to say. I'll let ya'll know. It's bothersome to think about the hundreds and hundreds of dollars I've spent on that darn Frontline.... just doesn't seem fair they can change there ingredients and not let the consumer know that the change is for the worse rather then the better.

No, it is not daily. It is once a month. 8.00 per pill is a good price. I pay around 10.00 but I'm in Charlotte, NC.

Ok ok ok...... So I ended up putting the dogs on Comfortis.....lol
The 8.00 per pill thing was a DAILY does one. The Comfortis (for two 100 plus pound each dogs) was 18.00 per pill. No big deal if it works it's equivalent to Frontline, it'd be worth the cost.
Well let me tell you boys and girls..... IT WORKS!!! Shortly after eating the chewable tablet they started to calm with the itching. This was yesterday. I slept so good not hearing there tags jingle through the night scratching...lol
So far so good. I hope it lasts and thanks for who ever it was that said to try it. I am SOOOOOO glad I did. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Now i gotta work on the house and respray the yard and were back in business.
You know what I found interesting was the Doc said to give the tablet on a full stomach because it works off the fat in the belly (or something like that) so I fed them double cheeseburgers from McDonalds on the way home....... they love those and good thing I did too because I had to hide there wormer tablet in between the meat patties cause they just weren't into the whole "Let's get wormed today" thing.
thanks
