Through the grape vine...
Eddie Shoffner was put out of union county Tennessee schools because he was stealing money from the school system.
Eddie Shoffner went to each school board member when he was running for superintendent of schools in Claiborne County, and he asked them what they wanted if he was elected. His response was if he was elected they would have it.
The first thing he did was deliver on the promises he made to the school board members when he was elected as superintendent of schools. After he delivered on these promises, he asked the school board members to make him a contract. The contract would be that if for any reason that he was fired from his position that the remaining amount of his salary would be payed to him, and the school board members made this contract with him. His remaining unpaid salary is $300,000.
Janet Barnard wrote a grant proposal for Claiborne County schools and she was awarded a grant for several million dollars. She left her old position as director of special education to over see the new program that was established. The new program that Janet Barnard was over seeing has several million dollars in funds. Eddie Shoffner fired Janet Barnard from this position, and he told her she could go back to the class room or quit. She resigned. Eddie Shoffner had access to the money when he fired Janet Barnard.
only through the grape vine...
In my opinion...
In Claiborne county we should have a run off election where two people are left. Then, we need to have another election between the two. superintendent of schools, sheriff, and mayor need to be elected in this manner.
politics, politics, politics...If one has the power - they have the money.

Did you just make this bull up for your own self entertainment? You obviously do not know the rules governing the educational system so why would we believe anything else you might have to say. I would be curious when you think Eddie was elected and then "asked for a contract". Please read, if you can, the below taken from the Private Acts of Claiborne County.

EDUCATION - SCHOOLS
SUPERINTENDENT OR DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS
After the passage of the Education Improvement Act of 1991, the elected office of
superintendent of public instruction (county superintendent of education) was phased out. Replacing
the superintendent is a director of schools, who is an employee of the county board of education;
however, the continued use of the title superintendent is permitted. The director of schools is
employed by the board under a written contract of up to four years duration under T.C.A. 49-2-
203(a). The duties of the director of schools are enumerated in T.C.A. 49-2-301.

Topix has so many experts on everything under the sun. Check your facts before you open your mouth or put something in writing. You only make yourself look like a fool. All of this "I heard", "They said", "Grapevine" stuff is just pure crap. The truth will come out and it won't be on topix. There will be another election and politics will continue to make the good people of Claiborne County look like a bunch of hillbilly rednecks that makes everyone in the Southeast laugh at us.

Don't you know it is a well known fact, "in my opinion because I heard it through the grapevine", you can't be sued if you use such phrases. ha ha I don't know what rocket scientist came up with that one, but "they said" it is true so it must be because it is on Topix.

Haven't you heard via he smut forum there is going to be an audit. Of course to me the logical thing to have done would have been audit, have proof of the flying accusations, then moved forward from there.

Rumor has it there is going to be a meeting tomorrow to pick an interim DOS.

So you finally asked someone his children's names. No I am not Autumn. I believe if you have read my posts you know that I even made the comment that Eddie is not one of my favorite people. However, I do think what has been done is wrong and bordering on illegal. Not to mention you being so close minded as to even bring his children into this much less calling them horrible names. Like I said "T-rash".

And the good people of Claiborne County will not be able to afford paper for the other end, much less to wipe their noses by the time this is all said and done.

Well, the "good people of Claiborne County" has been bearing the burden of past and present corrupt "public servants" for years. To be sure, if these public positions were "little to no pay" OR even comparable to surrounding counties pay scale (Hancock, Union, Campbell, Bell)- you wouldn't see them in the running...or better yet, if there weren't any side perks to benefit from, they wouldn't even consider it.

Opportunity in Politics = Corruption, bribery, extorsion and neopotism. How many employees are related in either city, county, sheriff's department or school board? One hand shakes another, along with a pat on the back - good buddy.

I KNOW this because I have experienced it here - it is alive and well in Claiborne County. So please don't make this out to be something it is not - I'm pretty sure everyone will still be able to afford toilet paper...and propably a whole lot more now that the lid on the cookie jar is glued.

Everyone needs to be patient - be quiet and listen. Laundry day is coming and I'm sure there's a PILE to wade through and wash!

Thanks for this post. I am not an attorney and had already said almost exactly the same thing that his attorney had said...it is only common sense.
