As I understand it,the Claiborne County Commission members have voted to raise their own pay to $350.00 per meeting. The average time spent in a meeting, by this school teacher infested County Commission, is about 2 hours. This makes their pay about $7000.00 per 40 hour week. Also, the taxpayers pay for good health insurance coverage for these commission members who are employed in the school system or have conflicts of interest due to family members employed in the school system. If you are a commission member not employed or have family members employed in the school system, inform me, and I will exempt you from this article. The taxpayers of Claiborne County, of which I am one, are fools. Therefore, we have an obligation to pay these so-called educated dictators and pamper them with the high lifestyles to which they have become accustomed.I really think it would be in order for them to vote themselves the right to sleep with the wife of any taxpayer in their district. We, who allow our employees to be seated on County Commission and set our tax rates with which to pay themselves and/or their families, deserve to be treated like fools. Why do we deserve to be treated like fools?. Simply, because we are fools!!!!!!!!!!

Not only are there teachers on the commission but there is also an employee of a major county contractor, a road department employee, and one with ties to the sheriff department. Crooks, every one of them.

I'm educated and someone has to teach. If you taxpayers had to teach, your children would be illiterate and complaining all the time like you.

If you think that the commissioners voting to give themselves a raise is bad just wait, I heard that mayor Daniels is about to increase his salary by 25%!

County had to hire a Financial Director to do County Mayor's job when Joe Tyler Duncan was Mayor and he is still here doing Daniels' job.

If we need a financial director, we don't need a county mayor. We need some citizens willing to work to change the powers of this group of parasites.

As a close friend of the County Commissioner who 'Fact' stated works for the Road Department, well, you need to get your facts straight. He has not worked there since the new Road Superintendent was voted him. He does not want to be bias nor have a conflict of interest when it comes to performing his duties as a commissioner for the citizens of Claiborne. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call the County Commission Office and ask for his number. I'm sure he will do all he can to answer your questions honestly.

I will categorically answer your comment. There is not the chance of a snowball in Hell someone working for the county government will not vote funds to keep food on their plate. As for county honesty, a house sold in Powell Valley for $30,800 which the county has appraised at $45,000.00. So much for your honest government

Mike Sharp gave all employees a layoff slip on his last day in office so they could draw unemployment, a very few was rehired by Mr. Fultz, the rest draw a weekly unemployment check.

Just found out I have been lied to by an 'honest' county commissioner. Please read the Sunshine Law again and I hope every public official obeys this law. So disappointed...meeting at McDonalds, Hardees, or on the phone with one another violates this law.

The statement of purpose of the Open Meetings Act states,

"The general assembly hereby declares it to be the policy of this state that the formation of public policy and decisions is public business and shall not be conducted in secret."[1]
