Sam has a store he could make a living in if he would stock something to sell. We don't need more politicians on the payroll. We pay enough taxes without more parasitic jobs being created which pay far too much. If he's so highly qualified to manage the county's business, he should do well managing his own.

The job should be done by the county mayor. Exactly, why should we pay someone to do a job that officially is already filled by someone elected by the voters? If the county mayor can't do his job for $75,000.00 or more, he should be re-called for being incompetent. There is a limit to how much taxpayers should have to pay for government incompetence. In fact, we are long past the limit. We have had our property appraisals increased when fools know property values have collapsed nationwide. A home sold at public auction in Powell Valley for two thirds it's county appraised value. Exactly why should property owners have to rent property we have worked and paid for from a bunch of political parasites? It will end sometime, but,it will only end when taxpayers will no longer tolerate being enslaved by a bunch of of extorting freeloaders.

For the ones of us that are in the dark about what you are stating here, please explain. 1. I don't know what store Sam has and where it is. 2. What position does he hold for the mayor or county?

Good. Now, if you can, find a way to get the self and family serving politicians out of office.

Wouldn't it be nice to build Sam an ornate throne to go with his POSITION? May I suggest teak wood, overlain with 24kt gold and inlaid with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls of highest quality.I believe a structure, with a footrest about five feet above floor level should suffice. Satin covered goose down should be comfortable enough to help him endure the rigors of his POSITION. Of course there would be a need for velvet clad defenders of the throne in case Mayor Daniels, Or Lord help us, a taxpayer should stray into the throne room. The courthouse is entirely inadequate for someone of his V.I.P. standing. May I suggest marble walls and floors, with leaded, decorative stained glass windows. The roof should be of tempered glass, sufficiently high for some small palm trees and fountains of water flowing through exotic rocks and live ferns along the coursing water. If Claiborne County can afford eighty teachers more than the state finds necessary and Sam to keep our finances in good order,we surely can afford an office for him fitting for someone of his stature.

Really, I thought "Sam's" was owned by Walmart and China? What is the name of his store?

I have no hostility toward Sam in any way. He could do a very valuable service to his community by operating his business and letting our County Mayor, elected by the voters, run his. I oppose padding county payrolls with high paid employees for the taxpayers of this county to pay.Bill Hurst was well informed on county finances and had no need for a high salaried financial officer. The people chose Jack Daniels over Sam Owens in an election, by a substantial margin, for office of County Mayor. That should be more than enough reason to not employee Sam as financial officer.

What rock have you been under? Our county government and city governments has always had "padding" and also had the hiring of "opponents" to serve in their administration, just look at the sheriff and his investigator and there are many more serving in different offices after they have left their original elected office.

the voters may have made a poor choice in electing jack but should we punish the whole county because of it.few voters realize how much is involved with the mayors office.and things have changed a lot since bill was mayor not saying he couldn't have done it but would of had to get much more education.and if someone is going to have to cover for what the mayor can't do i hope at least they hire someone who can do the job sam or who ever.
