My nephew is at Majestic Ranch. Please provide feedback on Majestic Ranch. I have read mixed reviews about the school.

What was your nephew sent there for?

...I will be honest with you - if it is possible at all for you to influence the removal of your nephew from the program, DO SO.
I was a resident there many years ago, and was abused - phyiscally and mentally.

The living conditions are FAR under par, and I saw and experienced things there that no child should.

Since I was finally released from there - it has undergone quite a bit of "renovation" and "restructuring" - but due to MY experiences there - I have been observing the actions and program as a whole.

The program on the outside has "revamped" it's appearances - but the core of the program is the same.

I was one of the residents that brought charges against them and I had 4 witnesses with me - House Parents.

2 had quit their job there becuase they refused to follow the "guidelines" for diciplinary behavior regarding the children. The owners and faculty that were already there - reprimanded them for not adhering to the "policy" - and they quit - refusing to compromise their morals of how a child should be punished.

2 of the other witnesses that I had - were current houseparents (at that time). They had been there for about 2 years a piece - and had finally gotten sick of the M.O. that is used there.

Whatever your nephews issues were that got him sent there - I promise that there are better places, methods and ways to help him through it.

my name is nicole i was enrolled at majestic ranch for 31 months and finally was taken home by my parents. While i was there i experinced much of this "abuse". One day we did 27 laps in the hot sun for two in a half hours with no breaks around the big feild which is a little smaller then a foot ball feild. Many restraints led to injuries and sicknesses were not taken care of. We had small and poor living conditions and many times had to deal with the house parents dramma and own problems. Although there were many "smoking bans" we had easy accses to sigeretts lighters and even marjuana a few times. One of the pourposes of Majestic ranch was to help build self estem and to improve communication. While those things may very well have happend, staff were aloud to insult us on very many levels. There were also questions of sexual assult that were not taken seriously (if you want more information about this ask me personally.) Tammy and Wayne are, in my experince, extreamly manipulative and flat out liars. I hope that eny parents who are thinking about sending there children to majestic ranch that they tink twice and also realize there are many other faculities that are avaliable. If you want any information on specific inccodents of abuse of any kind or the living conditions i would be more then happy to give that to you. Like i said i was there for 31 months and i had much time to see the real inside life at Majestic Ranch. Dont get me wrong, it helped bothe my family and I very much, but i personally dotn feel that it is a safe place for any child to be placed at.

My child was in the program one year. I brought her home after the facts were verified that indeed what the above post tells you.

I know these people. I know that the staff/administration is not trust worthy. Until something is corrected I would advise bringing your nephew home.

I agree that the program works and our family is much better. THe reason I brought my child home was safety.

I worked at Majestic Ranch for 5 weeks before being beaten by a student. In my opinion, the place is a nightmare. I took the job because I wanted to help the kids. They even paid me more because I had an Associate's Degree-- in General Education, not Social Work. I recieved no training other than watching another House Parent do her thing for a couple days. The food there was enough to destroy anybody's guts-- it was nothing but Sysco products. The program has its highlights, but I never saw the students do anything to really teach them new behavior patterns. They were just herded everywhere.
And yes it is Daniel Peart who owns it.

I worked there several years ago around 93 or so I worked there for about a year . I never agreed with alot of the things that went on like the so called take downs were kids were humilliated in front of there peers . Working with the kids was the best part of the job but as house parents we were discouraged to interact in any way that would interfear with ther therapy sessions things such as offering any advice or suggestions etc.....When I worked there it was all boys no girls wich some were along the way changed. The food in my oppinion as stated earlier was never the best as the kids had to follow a menu for meals as well as help prepare the meals and clean up afterwards the food was bought at the grocery store usually in evanstonin wich the high honor kids usually pertisipated in. In short the locals never liked the idea of the ranch !Like I said earlier I enjoyed working with kids as each one had a different approach to motivate them but the methods we were required to follow were not the best approach to all of the kids . Most all of them were just trying to get attention even if it was in some way negative . not sure about today but if i had kids that needed attention in a possitive way i would do some research on what type of attention they truely need . Most all ranches for boys or girls tend to fall on the tough love method wich works for some but not all.as far as the therapy went it seemed more like brain washing than anything!

I remember Michael Harris. He was from Hanford, CA I was there with him back in 91 - 92. He had a great personality, and a twang in his voice.

Just wanted to say my son was there when he was 13 years old for one year in 2002. He is now 20 years old. I really think it was a wake up call for him and me. We both grew and changed our own behavior, it was not just him. His self esteemed sky rocketed and has continued to since then. He has learned that things are not handed to him on a silver platter. But I also had to learn to not give him everything on a silver platter. I loved what he learned at Majestic Ranch and I think his experience was great. I think it is what you do with the tools you have learned that really matters.
