Not really. I've been here 5 plus years, and it is going down very fast!

Yeah its not really a nice town mainly because the city council listen to the people who yell the loudest, which happen to be the turds. If the city really wants change they need to start backing the Police Department and get them more Officers and stop trying to get them fired to picking on the poor drug dealers and drunks.

great job SORTA? 5 months worth of work and a handful of arrests c'mon guys honestly that sucks! Your narcotics division needs revamping, hire qualified people (officers) who know what there doing. pretty much everybody from bastrop county elgin, smithville, and bastrop (the city)are very clueless on law enforcement. trust me i've seen it. you have sgts with 4 years experience and detectives with a basic peace officer license, that's sad sad sad.

The guy above needs to know EPD did nothing. This was all BCSO.
Whats your experience Anonymity? You wouldn't happen to be the disgruntled employee who was going to be a narc until you were accused of stealing from a prisoner?

Yeah the other anonymity is definitely disgruntled, you can see it in his writing, sounds like an unemployed individual with a vendetta.

seriously, these are just not teenagers doing this -- what is sad, there is also 50-60 year old people doing this... God Bless! old enough to know better!! its like watching my grandpa get out of his car (parked in handicapped) and use his walker to offer young kids a bag of coke.
Its like how did they raise there kids, here son you are 10 now time to have a joint... thank you BCSO you may have saved alot of people.. i am sure they have all done worse and hopefully get more charges!!

Most of the cops that work in Elgin have to work there. Growing up in Elgin I remember crooked cops dating underage girls or my classmates at the time I attended EHS. I also knew cops who supplied the small time peddlers. It used to be Coke now it’s speed because it gets out of their system fast and they can blame it on "energy drinks". As for them harassing minorities all people of color don't sell dope! The reason the meth lab was right under their noses is because they most likely had something to do with it. Most meth labs are in the rural area, to have it in a neighborhood right off of the highway is ridiculous! I grew up seeing the same police cars patrolling the same area on the South end of Elgin, hell I have even been stopped while walking and had guns drawn on me and accused of “fitting the description”. Racism isn't going to stop, crime isn't going to stop, and crooked cops won't stop, its human nature to do it until you get caught. I won't drop names but I remember officers who had to work in Elgin because they had complaints of misconduct from the previous counties they worked for, some still have complaints pending it's not like Elgin pays the most for their law enforcement, so you get what you pay for. And you know who you are! Not all police that have worked for EPD are crooked but they no longer work for EPD. Kind of ironic, right? The plan was for us to eliminate ourselves but when the white kids started to act like the black kids and Mexican kids ... well you know the rest of this story especially if you’re from Elgin. If you just moved there, it is really a great place just don't step on the grass, watch for the cracks in the road and watch your speed, because they are!!
