Step 1: Fire Brandt

Step 2: Eliminate 20 positions from Central Office

Step 3: Replace the entire board, including the 2 new appointed members. We all know that they were not good choices..and were hand picked by Brandt.

Step 4: Higher MORE teachers, qualified teachers, and reduce the class sizes in all the schools.

After that, the district will flourish.
I guarantee it.

First hand knowledge, the teachers are a JOKE. Test scores are pretty telling. The Strive report is chocked full of interesting information. All the proof is on paper. All this talk about money is teachers angry about the new boss and all the changes. And fear. Parents are more concerned about their child's education.

Nothing will change until the teacher problem is fixed. 3 or 4 good teachers is not enough to fix a failing district. I wish the state would take over.

Lol! Yea, that was a typo.
I meant "hire"....

Eliminating 20 people from central office would save $2million.
Some of that is what I propose to pay the newly "hired" teachers with.

Are you saying that people in the central office are making $100,000.00?
If so, I am in the wrong profession!

Evin if you count benefits, employment taxes...ect. I doubt there would be but a couple key people who would make over $50,00.00 a year in the central office.
Most positions would be supportive positions like clerical and secretaries.

And how will that fix the sub-standard education in NIS? Schools sucked when the $$ was plentiful.

Unfortunately, even the majority of clerical positions pay in the $100K range.

Personally, I feel that is because the class sizes are too large and too many kids are falling between the cracks.

Teachers are spending more time dealing with discipline issues than they are teaching.
Disperse the discipline issues out to more teachers and you will have more of the kids who want to learn, learning.
Class size is key.
It is probably the biggest key to MD's success. They have small class sizes.
This new proposal for closing MD and incorporating those students into the other 2 schools includes eliminating 14 positions.
They only looked at class size capacity, not class size reality.
If Newport increases class sizes to capacity, like what is being proposed, it will cause even more children to fail.
It's a recipe for disaster.

Everyone is not making 100K at central office
One guy makes over 215K
Two people make over 113K
another makes a hair over 110K
another makes just over 99k
about 5 more over 80k
A couple more over 65k

I am GLAD someone will finally admit Mildred Dean's classroom size! For years they have denied this! HELLO Doc try to dance around this one
