Why do people refer to the people that run the Villages of Oscoda the "village idiots"? Is it because they constantly harrass everyone?? Maybe it's because Joann and her band of henchmen are trying to be more important than they really are? Is it because of the childish roadblock the Villages endorsed to stop the cement trucks?? Or maybe it is all of the above. Has anyone every had any problems with the Villages and there "people"???

Let's get it straight, the Villages of Oscoda Homeowners Association board of directors did not endorse the roadblock to stop the cement trucks. If you knew anything about the board you'd know they do not publicly take sides on any local issue. They don't have the guts. They represent their own interests and only hold office because nobody else wants the job. You gotta get your 15 minutes of fame however you can. If you could go to a board meeting you'd see how they squelch any opposing viewpoints. They run a 3 minute clock for each person during the comment period and only allow 1 question during that 3 minutes. Troops need to be sent in because a democracy it ain't.

They really think they are above the law and can control people and their lives. They discourage attending board meetings and they are just little people looking for some power....... Right Joann??

I'm a condo unit owner in the Villages of Oscoda and am having a lot of problems with the Board of Directors over display of "For Sale" and "For Rent" signs inside a window of my unit. I'm being harassed. Please respond here if you've also had problems with this BOD led by JoANN NINK and cronies. I want to organize a proposal to recall the current Board members and fire the paid staff for ineffective management and other abuses.

Houses at the Villages are not selling. Their value is at an all time low. The economy has caused some of the problems but so has the actions of the Board and staff. The perception is that home owners are constantly harrased by the Board or the local self imposed police power called the Village Watch. The best and worst advertising is "word of mouth" and the word is "don't live in the Villages" and I hear it time and time again. Very seldom do you hear the positive side of living in the Villages. The Board really needs to step up and try to change the image of living in the Villages. They also need to understand the economic environment of northern Michigan. This is not Boca Raton Florida and expensive summer resort homes. This is old AF base housing and probably always will be associated with being old military housing. A little more cooperation, compassion and understanding with homeowner may help. And as hard as it may be, it's suggested that the Board swallow some pride and stop being so bull headed and defensive and try opening up a little and listen to complaints and suggestions from owners and others...... My perception of the board is that they are sneaky, always plotting to run some one out of the Villages, target people to harrass, and try to stiffle community comment at their meetings. That's a PERCEPTION and nothing more. That's also my opinion and you have yours. Good luck to the new Board... I hope they can change all those that share the same perception I have. We need the Villages but.......

Good Luck To The New Board? There is one new person on the Board and I suspect he'll either knuckle under or have a rough road to the next election. Good Luck to him. There is a need for wholesale change on the board but people are unwilling to run for office. The biggest problem with the Board is the lack of equal enforcement of the Bylaws. Property managers tour the area weekly looking for violations but, for whatever reason, cannot see the obvious. Having said that, The Villages is a pretty good place to live. Yes, property values are down as they are everywhere. Foreclosures are high as they are everywhere. Time will remedy these problems.

Property values in the Villages are falling and interest in living there is falling because of the Boards' actions. Its time for a change and I think its going to come.

I moved to the Villages in 1998. I rented until 2003 when I bought my home. I moved 2 years ago in 2007. I had had enough. Paying the association dues was a joke. Taking care of the lawns and doing lawn work was a joke and then when it came to snow plowing and removal we were charged the bucks. I had a nice home there until they brought in the village Idiots who so called run the place. BIG JOKE. I miss Oscoda, but I don't miss the crap that went on at the villages. You couldn't even wipe your buttt without getting some kind of notice in the mail. Now mind you I didn't get any notices, but I watched that place go from being a great place to live to being poop. You had to have permission to do anything. I look at it this way, I bought my home and I paid my taxes, If I wanted to make improvements why should I have to have it approved before I could do anything? I watched GOOD neighbors get harassed until they finally moved out. They need good honest people to run that place, not the goody too shoes that run it now.

Two Board Members, in particular, must be replaced as soon as possible, in order for ANY meaningful and beneficial changes to occur for the membership.#1 is JoAnn Nink.#2 is newly Re-elected Robert Wilson. Both are & have been huge liabilities for homeowners in the Villages of Oscoda HOA. Another problem is LEGAL expenses, which have been escalating the past 2 years because of crazy actions by the Board against homeowners. The Board apparently feels that as long as they aren't paying the legal fees themselves personally, then its OK to spend dues money collected from homeowners to wage frivolous and faulty legal actions against homeowners by employing a local attorney in Tawas named Nichol Palumbo. This craziness must stop and stop soon. If it doesn't stop, then a remedy is to sue the Board members individually for breaches of their fiduciary and management duties.

Ziggy wrote: Go Seymore. I think you have hit the nail DIRECTLY on the head!!!!! Thanks Ziggy. I'm interested in putting together a group of like minded VoO homeowners fed up like I am with the incompetence of the BODs, especially the actions of Pres.JoAnn Nink and V.P.Robert Wilson. Also anyone in agreement with cutting the paid office staff (Laura Pachlo and Tammi Kett)to only one person. A good portion of our dues are currently allocated to wages and benefits for these two people who needlessly harass homeowners. If anyone is in agreement please let me know. I'm willing to meet somewhere to discuss these and other issues. Another thing I'm dissatisfied with is the useless newsletter they send out and the website that doesn't provide for comments from homeowners. Any one else feel the same?

its definetly time for this bod to go also the office staff need to be fired immediately the lawn crew has no clue to what they are doing Joann has told us they are the best and i think we can all agree that is far from the truth. There are many complaints about this overpaid and underworked contractor that are strategically ignored by the bod, office staff and Honeydo.I was under the impression that these people work for us and this is also apparently false. Things here are done to suit Joann and the bod. How many more will move before she figures out that she is the problem

Things are not as they seem at the villages instead of the bod doing things for the residents they suit themselves. our lawn contractor does less than any in the past he is rude and belligerent to the residents and does very little however in all of her wisdom (haha) Joann gave him asizable raise to do less and complain more. This idiot needs to go as the residents hate him and he hates them and has specified so himself. Joann while your firing people lets not forget to fire the girls in the office as they are awful too.

if our lawn contractor is not doing anything and he is still being paid and is going to be there for 2 more years the question one would put to himself is Where is our money going and how much might be going back in the pockets of the board members through kickbacks it is a well known fact that he is friends with tammi and why didnt the contract get bid out properly after it was changed. How much is he paying to keep this contract?

I was going to try to post something intelligent here but i honestly think it would be lost to this audience. Too much pettyness. Ive always found it easy to criticize what i dont know or havent taken the time to understand. There are alot of units here and everyone has to be represented not just the vocal minority. So get involved, if you dont like it change it within the system but it needs to be the will of the majority not a few squeeky wheels. So armchair quarterbacks... fish or cut bait...

The current bod -- Nink / Wilson -- have to GO. And so does the paid office staff. Abosolutely INCOMPETENT, wasting homeowners' dollars. Nothing to show for it, except their little power trip. GET RID OF THEM!!!!!!
