Yes, and I worked with your dad. Hello from the past! Which German club did your dad direct the choir? I sing and am active with the Teutonia Maennerchor and the Schweizer Maennerchor Helvetia in Pittsburgh. Could you give me some history? There are a few people would still remember your dad and mother. maierfe@verizon.net

My uncle, Charles (Chick) Heister worked there in the late 30s and into the 40s. He gave me an aluminum bat.

My father worked in the general area. I'm not sure where exactly but he came out of the gate on 10th street.

On the right is Union Spring. I worked there from 1974 to 1979. We used to walk out under the bridge at lunch and go to one of the bars on 3rd or 4th Avenues for a "cold one". You worked up a fierce thirst working next to the furnaces, especially in the summer.

summer is near, the trees are green and the river is almost ready for swimming. when Living in Springdale we used to go to the river in April, when ice was still floating down. There was a large rock next to the bank that we would jump to. Then we soaked our feet until they turned blue (it didn't take long). We then stood on the rock until our feet warmed up and then we would leap into the river - two or three kicks and we were out, shivering our bare asses off.

Yea, I remember Herb he was a nice guy, I think he worked in the Pressed Steel Dept and I was in the Coil Dept so we didn't work together but it was a small place.

I graduated from Valley on '72, I think we knew each other..I remember a Tim Geist and Sudsy who was older than me but knew my cousins.

Hey Jeff! I didn't see your reply when it originally was posted. Yep, Tim and Sudsy were my brothers and yes, I remember you. Seems like lots of folks around our age departed to Florida. I know of a few people our here from NuKen, some of them were your classmates. The "small world" syndrome pops up occasionally. I've bumped into ex-NuKenners quite a few times here in L.A. Back in the early 80's when I was working in an ice cream plant, a co-worker said to me "looks like the new hire that just arrived came right out of Pittsburgh". This guy had a missing front tooth, obvious facial battle scars and a pretty solid beer belly. After a few days, I got to speak to him and learned that not only did he grow up in Creighton, he worked at Union Spring and knew my father. Great to hear from you Jeff, hope life is good to you in Florida.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Pisces

You're raring to go today, especially on domestic projects. You'll achieve a tremendous amount if you're allowed to proceed at your own pace and in your own time, but you'll soon get ratty if you suspect someone is breathing down your neck or trying to tell you what to do. You'll also feel irritated with people you know really well, so be prepared for a few fireworks.
