There is no higher principle with these demands for amnesty for illegals.
In fact, amnesty is racist. Our immigration law allows all Americans to have reunification with family rights. Each country has about the same quota, except Mexico which has double.
If there is amnesty, then Hispanic Americans get A HUGE PREFERENCE over all other Americans in the number and timinig of entry for their family and ethnic group. That is discrimination.
Our constitution bars discrimination and requires equal protection under the law.
It is time to start the deporation like other countries do.
No more illegals ripping off our benefits and taking jobs away from Americans.

I have to say I am with Gregory Kane and Paul Chamberlain.
We need to have more Americans who will stand up to real issues, like whats
Going on right now in our Great Country - Illegal Aliens. Supporting Illegals will eventually strangle America and I for one am very tired of paying taxes while these Illegals do not pay a cent. This is one issue we need to face Now. We need more 100-percent Real True Americans in Office who will support the American People.

I commend you for your intelligent and well-written article, Mr. Kane. I agree that illegal immigrants are breaking the law and laughing at us hard-working, law-abiding, tax-paying citizens.

We have to work really hard now to identify those politicians who are AGAINST amnesty for illegal immigrants, so we can vote for them later. I don't mean just illegal Latinos, but those illegal immigrants from every foreign country.

Every day after I listen to the news, I send an e-mail to any of the wannabe politicians (presidential and others) who makes a stand against illegal immigrants, and commend them for their choice. I usually get an e-mail back and even if I don't, I feel sure my vote is being "tallied" up in the 'against illegal immigration' column. Politicians use thes tallies during every election.

I also send an e-mail to those who are FOR amnesty, telling them that the MAJORITY of Americans ARE AGAINST amnesty. I let them know that I am soooooooo against it, they certainly will not get my vote.

In addition, I also send news articles about illegal immigrants to all of the politiciansI do what I can now, because once the election is over, there is nothing that we can do to change it.

GREAT JOB, Greg, for pointing out the logical & rational side of this important issue. What the people in opposition don't seem to "get" is that we're NOT against LEGAL immigration OR people caught in the middle of an unfortunate immigration situation; we are NOT racists or bigots; we just want the law enforced as it is mandated by the FEDS, who are not doing their job very well, to insure order in the policies that millions have followed for centuries. Without a sensible & practical policy of immigration, we end up with what we have today, illegal lawbreakers who drain every facet of our society to the brink of extinction, not to mention yours & my pocketbooks, in forms of excessive taxation, "free" health care, Social Security, jobs, housing, prisons, education, etc. The annual costs to the taxpayers is 3 to 4 times the costs of the war on terror; if people realized this fact, they might think again about how cheap a head of lettuce really is!

In Md. the state government just hands them a driver's license, registers them to vote, and then assumes that all will be well. If they apply for social services, the interviewer can't question their nationality. You gotta love it! Impeach O'Malley!

Greg is always so on point with his commentary. MD is a haven for illegals and criminals of all varities. That's why I can't wait to move back to VA.

Great article. Lets not lose focus on the companies/individuals that "hire" the illegals to work for them. If the jobs did not exist the illegals would not be crossing the border. The FEDS must step up investigations and closing/fining the businesses using the aliens. It's not just the illegals that are at fault.

mr. kane refers to the moral issue of slavery. and that there isn't a higher principle to policing our borders as all (?)other nations do. i'm reminded of people in nazi germany turning the jews and others over. i'm from an immigrant family (grandparents, aunt) and believe these illegals should be afforded basics (language classes!, health care for all children!). i'm believe in the quote on the statue of liberty.

People say that illegals who have not committed a crime should be given a path to citizenship. Well, crossing our border illegally is a crime. So all illegals are criminals -- unless someone wants to pretend that some laws are okay to break.
