Why is this legal???? They need to hurry up and get this off the street before some moron decides to drive their car and smoke this. Do these kids even think about what they are doing????

Why are you reporting this? You might as well be selling it to all interested teenagers. 1. Introduce the product. How great it feels to take it. No side effects, etc. 2. Where it may be purchased with full instructions on it's usage. 3. Buy it quick before some politician stops the sale. What the hey, I'm interested and I'm a senior citizen. And, if you hadn't told me, I would never have known about it much less where to buy it!

I'm not certain whether or not to publish this article was a good thing. What they didn't know they do now and how this effects some may be deadly for others...Ybor is so close to the USF campus, I would think the gentleman who sells it and is so proud to do so, should re-think what Could Happen...
What if kids who are buying it, are on medications to treat other serious conditions?
Seriously as a mother of two grown kids, I wouldn't take this laughing!

I think the article, and many peoples reactions are insane.

How is this "new" thing thats been around for thousands of years like LSD? Does it come on sugar cubes? On blotter paper? Can it be a liquid? Or does it give hallucinations of dogs and cats living together in a rainbow world of cellophane flowers?

None of the above.

Stupid hype over a stupid plant that many one time users have reported wasn't worth the doing again.

And already we have the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" crowd totally justifying locking away American "CITIZENS" and passing laws to make having a plant enough to get you thrown in jail for five years.

with 80% of your sentence being mandatory because the American Taliban wants to make you safer by locking up all of your neighbors for longer stretches you are looking at people doing four years in prison for a plant.

People. Pull your heads from your rectums and look around you. The American Taliban is alive and well. And we are locking up more and more of our people daily. Demand the opposite. Demand freedom. A responsible freedom yes, but freedom none the less. Because if we do not have justice, liberty, and freedom, we only have injustice, incarcertion, and enslavement.

Sorry, Salvia Divinorum is just not as potent as they are trying to say it is. In fact, it is more of a gimmick than an actual drug. It is also a very close relative of the sage you have in your garden. To ban a plant that has never killed or even hurt anyone is letting media hysterics dictate the law.

I guarantee after reading this article, dozens of kids are gonna go buy it, smoke it, and then say "what the heck, this is lame" and never touch it again.

Gee, teenagers kill themselves after taking Prozac too. Maybe we should ban that. People kill themselves after drinking and driving, maybe we should ban alcohol and cars. People do dumb stuff, you can't stop that.

Id like to know exactly WHY they want to ban it. Because people laugh? Heck, you can do the same thing off a can of whip cream.

This is the first time I really thought about why they want to ban Salvia, why is pot illegal, and why not alcohol and cigs? Doesn't make sense.

Yeah because they aren't already doing that with alcohol. Are you serious? Do you even think about what you're writing before you write it?

I never knew it about it either, but ya know what. Im not a idiot either. People have to make their own choices. I have no interest in running out and 'trying' this. The people who "want" to try it, are going to try it regardless. If you raise your children correctly and teach them about making wise choices and their are consequences for their actions, you shouldn't have much to worry about. If you haven't, well then... nice job! Natural selection will take care of the rest...

Turning their legal cross hairs on Salvia is clearly nothing more than another ploy to get some kind of public movement stirred up by propaganda. I've tried salvia. It sucks. It's NOT the next marijuana, the "high" (more like a low, worst body high ever) sucks, you can't think clearly, and it wears off before you realize you're coming down. Doing this under the guise of "saving a few kids" is bullshit. I call BULLSHIT! If you want to save some kids' lives, STOP SENDING THEM TO WAR! Or if you really care about them getting a hold of illicit substances, why don't you REALLY PUT A BAN ON THE WORST DRUG IN AMERICA! ALCOHOL! Thank you and that is all.

Do you do any research before you publish a story? This drug is nothing at all like LSD. It's method of use, duration of intoxication and overall effect are completely different to LSD. Plz investigate before you publish. Thanks.

Wow, how stupidly blind are you? You totally missed his point, and made yourself look like an as_. First of all, NO IT'S NOT LEGAL TO DRINK AND DRIVE. You conservative "people are too stupid to operate their own lives we need to do it for them" mentality has already put a ban on such actions, and people get locked up for drinking and driving as a result. Booze is legal, driving with it is not. Why, then, does another herb that is LEGAL, need to be made ILLEGAL merely because someone might drive on it? Why should someone who's trying to satisfy their curiosity about the complexity of this INCREDIBLY DETAILED AND BEAUTIFUL CREATION OF GOD (there's no denying intelligent design if you know anything about subatomic physics) be physically imprisoned for UP TO 5 YEARS!!! for owning a plant and harming not a single other living soul. Now, I got a question for all you conservative bible thumpers out there who totally jumped on the "YEAH! ANOTHER DRUG, LET'S BAN IT!" wagon. What is your God's explanation for these drugs? Moreso, what makes ALCOHOL so wonderful, a toxic biproduct of forcing a bacteria to try to survive without air, versus a freakin' PLANT that is doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing. How about instead of trying to force people to not do some things, we educate them about all things? About how to live life happy, healthy, and responsibly. We waste SOOOOOO much money paying for cops to lock people up when the very next damn day there's 3 or 4 other people to replace the person they just locked up, why don't we try to EDUCATE these people about the fact that if we stop fighting one another and worked together we might,*gasp* actually have clean water and good food for everyone on earth? WHICH WE DON'T! We're sitting here freaking out about "big ole nasty Sally D come here to kill our chill'ens", while in other parts of the world their fighting cholera because THEY CAN'T DRINK CLEAN WATER. Yeah. I <3 America.

Media should stay out of things like this. I've tried Salvia. No problems here. I am not addicted to drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, or anything else except oxygen. I hold a very well respected, very high salary career, and I've never wanted to kill myself.

It's a "Sage", an it's not even the sage that directly causes a mind-altering state. It releases a small dose of a chemical that's already in your brain.

Typcially this chemical is released two times in your life; Once when you are born, and the other is when you die. Some account for this as the cause of the so-called fabled "Life flashing before my eyes" experience.

India has used this sage for enlightenment during special occasions for hundreds of years.

I recommend any who has a "problem" with this natrual, harmless alternative to drugs read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvia_divinorum

There's even evidence that it can be used to treat drug addictions, without causing another addiction.

Do some research. One thing I can't stand is a self-righteous prude.

Folks if you check out youtube and see how many kids are trying it and how many say they would never do it again you be quite surprise. What the future effects of the drug on the body are no one knows yet, but, I'm sure they will find out. It's cheap and can be bought in any health food store. Just hope not too many have bad trips.
