He's waiting for an apology? For that obvious attempt to suppress voting? I hope he's holding his breath. Congratulations to the voters of Florida who did not let the buffoons in the state government that runs this state get away this time.

I hope this is the first sign of an Iorio run for governor. I feel pretty confident that she could beat Rick Scott. I also hope that Alex Sink and her FloridaNext Foundation will help with Iorio's effort. Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature make us look ridiculous to the rest of the world when we're STILL counting votes! What a bunch of BS. There's no excuse for this; Gaetz needs to get a grip.

Did Pam Iorio just awaken from a 4 year nap ? Her outrage is both late (since everyone has been talking about this issue before the election ) and absurd .Like she is going to walk up to Rick Scott and say "fix this",and he immediately reacts. Also , let's add naive , since the obstruction of people's right to vote was a deliberate concerted effort, and not merely , a procedural inefficiency. The republican majority crafted this scheme and put it in place , hoping to disenfranchise the democrats.
It's the "closing of the barn door after the horse has escaped ", syndrome.

First off, Ex Governor Bush foreited any further state involvement in the 2000 debacle to seat his PNAC conspiritors. Yes he was a PNAC member committed to wars.

We should let the people decide in a nonpartisan primary which amendments make it to a final ballot. Not the ideologs who bump legitimate issues for their own agendas.

"On the morning after Election Day, George W. Bush held an unofficial lead of 1,784 votes in Florida, but to his campaign strategists the margin felt perilously slim. They were right to worry. Within a week, recounts would erode Mr. Bush's unofficial lead to just 300 votes.
With the presidency hanging on the outcome in Florida, the Bush team quickly grasped that the best hope of ensuring victory was the trove of ballots still arriving in the mail from Florida residents living abroad. Over the next 18 days, the Republicans mounted a legal and public relations campaign to persuade canvassing boards in Bush strongholds to waive the state's election laws when counting overseas absentee ballots.
Their goal was simple: to count the maximum number of overseas ballots in counties won by Mr. Bush, particularly those with a high concentration of military voters, while seeking to disqualify overseas ballots in counties won by Vice President Al Gore.
A six-month investigation by The New York Times of this chapter in the closest presidential election in modern American history shows that the Republican effort had a decided impact. Under intense pressure from the Republicans, Florida officials accepted hundreds of overseas absentee ballots that failed to comply with state laws."
"In an analysis of the 2,490 ballots from Americans living abroad that were counted as legal votes after Election Day, The Times found 680 questionable votes. Although it is not known for whom the flawed ballots were cast, four out of five were accepted in counties carried by Mr. Bush, The Times found. Mr. Bush's final margin in the official total was 537 votes."
The flawed votes included ballots without postmarks, ballots postmarked after the election, ballots without witness signatures, ballots mailed from towns and cities within the United States and even ballots from voters who voted twice. All would have been disqualified had the state's election laws been strictly enforced.
The Republican push on absentee ballots became an effective counterweight to the Gore campaign's push for manual recounts in mainly Democratic counties in southern Florida.
In its investigation, The Times found that these overseas ballots -- the only votes that could legally be received and counted after Election Day -- were judged by markedly different standards, depending on where they were counted.
Republicans provided their lawyers with a detailed playbook that included instructions on how to challenge likely Gore votes while fighting for the inclusion of likely Bush votes. In some counties where Mr. Gore was strong, Bush lawyers stood by silently while Gore lawyers challenged overseas ballots, even likely Gore ballots.
The effectiveness of the Republican effort is demonstrated by striking disparities in how different counties treated ballots with similar defects. For instance, counties carried by Mr. Gore accepted 2 in 10 ballots that had no evidence they were mailed on or before Election Day. Counties."
Jeb always came through for his older brother, this time was no different.

There were definite differences in how counties handled votes, especially once the recounts started. Ironically, the state Supreme Court was willing to overlook the disparity in treatment, an apparent violation of the EPC of the 14th Amendment. It was the U.S. Supreme Court that ultimately held, 7-2, that allowing different counties to scrutinize votes differently and have different standards for what was a valid vote, violated the EPC. For the record, Bush's argument was that each vote should be counted in the same manner, an argument that seven justices agreed with, not just the 5 "conservative" justices.

I have to laugh at this. Pam Iorio was the supervisor of elections for Hillsborough county in 2000. After that election nearly everyone said that the system was broken and we needed touch screen voting or some other system instead of punch cards (which were used in Hillsborough). Hundreds of millions were spent on recommendations made by Iorio and many others and now she and the others who made the recommendations are "outraged". Too funny!

As we have seen on too many occasions, ballots can be lost in the mail, lost in boxes at the S.O.E.'s office, not counted because someone claims the signature does not match the one on file, not delivered because of insufficent postage, etc. IF YOU WANT YOUR VOTE TO BE SUBJECT TO THESE PROBLEMS, GO AHEAD AND "VOTE BY MAIL" For me, early voting for a period of two weeks before election day works just fine. I vote on the machine just like election day and I KNOW my vote is counted.

I've worked with Ms. Iorio, when she was Supervisor of Elections, and she is dedicated, hard working and fair.
The problems in this election were caused by nothing more than a GOP legislature and governor doing their best to rig an election. This time the rigging didn't work as well as it did in 2000, but I'm sure that under Gaetz' leadership they will keep trying.
BTW, Iorio would be a great governor.Reply 4 replies+14

NO SHE WOULD NOT. She is a stalker at best and falling down on a job she should never have been given WHILE she stalks innocent people. She has also followed me to my bank. For no reason. penelope, I am unafraid of the swine such. I picked up my video camera and documented her through the drive up window five feet from me. With that freak show smile. When she left she was traveling normally but I had gone around the other end of the small bank where she FOLLOWED ME INTO without a transaction and was waiting on the sidewalk to videotape her as she drove past. Now, in a sign of mens rea what she did was move towards the driveup street exit right there on macdill and then she angled towards my location and then she saw me and since I was just standing there pretending to be disinterested she obviously knows who I am because she suddenly yanked the wheel in the opposite direction and DROVE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED down the street, hard and fast right, hard and fast left and was still flying when she went out of sight. So, nope. Very unmayor like driving. Lol. With her little USF tag Dark Gray SUV, right? Yessirree.
Likely Pam's interest in me besides my valuable property stems from one of her town hall backslapper meetings where I went up front and did NOT extol the virtues of a city cutting help for the elderly and the vulnerable while dressed to the NINES in uniforms WE PROVIDE (Jane was there as was her latino boss) When the entire auditorium burst into applause Pam took an instant dislike to me and all her entire staff of uniforms turned to stare at me. I ws just stating the truth as I see it and know it. Do we even HAVE any of our residents left?? VERY FEW. So I noticed Jane made a big effort to meet me and get my name, failing that she had me followed out. What was Pam's response to the applause?? She said:(exactly)THAT is a county function. It SO WAS NOT. It was a city council move sparked by her cheap shoes self unless it comes to her own pocket. She's disgusting and that's the FOURTH video I have of her staking my family. At other times she also brought along companions to be sure to get my child's attention and also used her bank card. Which I doubt is from my bank. Why? Because she's stupid. And that's REALLY WHY she should NOT be even a garbage truck flier.

Further on this, there is NO WAY she could see me inside the bank. Go o any drive through and check it out. She was told I was there or she followed me there but she could not have seen my camera and I was not holding it up until she FLEW OFF with tires squealing in the opposite direction. Pam: the little stalker which IS a criminal act. Likely done with a hand held radio to avoid records. That's cool.. I got it anyway.

DEBBIE CLARK HAS REFUSED TO OPEN MORE EARLY VOTING SITES, ALTHOUGH THE LAW ALLOWS MORE THAN THE THREE SHE OPENS, BECAUSE MRS. CLARK WANTS TO PROMOTE "VOTE BY MAIL" BECAUSE IT IS EASIER ON HER STAFF. IF WE HAD MORE EARLY VOTING SITES, PERHAPS THE 9,000 "VOTE BY MAIL" BALLOTS THAT WERE TURNED IN ON NOV, 6TH. WOULD HAVE BEEN VOTED EARLY AND WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITH THE ELECTION NIGHT TALLY. SHE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE, AS THIS IS JUST THE LATEST EXAMPLE OF HER INCOMPENTENCE THAT DATES BACK TO 2000. 1. her outrageous fifteen thousand dollar raise

3. parleying with scientology
4. pumping tainted water to people's homes
5. odd death of her body guard driver especially juxtaposed with
6. the recent death of her assistant at a very young age (the cancer)
7. In my personal case she stalks my child at his job and myself when I shop at publix or visit my bank, each time she is carrying water because I complained widely about the water rotting our clothes and being unfit to drink or bathe in (7 years and counting or more)
8. The city employee intimidation society she embraced where she used willing criminals as a long arm of Pam
9. Firing and suspicious deaths of long-term city employees.
10. Firing the police sgt who ran against her.
11. buying those ridicuous cars
12. having her staff be such ridiculous twits and the police officer they transfer to like a disembodied mob show guy
13. Denying her niece when the poor kid got arrested.
14. Inserting that we should vote for her niece when Jessica Sierra was doing well on American Idol she had a Tribune editorial written. I still have it.
15. Sending her spokesmodel out on the steps of city hall to denounce Jessica
16. Those big horse teeth are just plain scary.
17. She'sNOT a democrat so that's a lie
18. She is a dishonest buck passer
19. She just outright embarrassed Tampa with the art museum and all those scandals.
20. Selling habana to scientology
21 her absolutely divine taste in that gigantic red cross taking up a block of downtown tampa
22 her fraternization with the tampa firemen led them to openly commit fraud and other evil, framing citizens and each other
23. naming undeserving Jane Castor as chief in political payback and hope for publicity but in reality they both
24 ... just wrang their stupid hands as our officers but ONLY OUR GOOD OFFICERS were shot in the street.
