If you are a sign printing shop or t-shirt printers and you are thinking about getting a DTG VIPER printer "BEWARE" I bought the DTG viper from ColDesi inc. formally SWF in Florida, This has been the Biggest Nightmare of my 32 year career in the Sign Business, It all started in July of 2011, I ordered everything they said that I needed, Complete with a Pre Treatment Booth. This was a $25,000.00 dollar pile of JUNK just 2 days after the setup, this machine started messing up, So we called Technical Support (they were Busy) 2 hours later they called us Back they told us of a few changes to make, We did that and it worked for 2 more days, Then we repeated the process over and over for a couple weeks. But they assured us that is was our fault we did not know what we were doing we would have to learn how to operate the machine. After 3 months of calling I finally Said ENOUGH is ENOUGH ! I called again by this time I had already lost $5,000.00 in Badly printed shirts, Wasted OVER PRICED Ink & Labor. Not to Mention all the advertising I did promoting this great new Printer... I finally Told them that I needed something Done, They said give us a week and we will have it straightened out and working, I have been very patient with ColDesi inc., I agreed to give them another week, They were still blaming us, They took NO responsibility for their product at all ,It was always our fault. After a week of them taking over our computer remotely they could not get the Printer to Print Properly. Then they Decided to Blame it on our art work so I told them to send us their art work and we would try it, It was still blurred and off color and the t-shirt pallet that lays on the conveyer was still flying off the end and hitting the floor. They said in a few of the conversations that it was the computer that was messed up ( It was a Brand NEW Computer with windows 7 that was bought a month prior to getting this printer, So we loaded the program on to a lap top and tried it,(Guess what ?) It did the same thing. Then they said our USB cord was too long, We tried USB cords ranging from 3 ft to 15ft and all sizes between. By this time I was Irate, I called back to tech support they still said it was our fault we did not know how to operate the equipment, Duhh if it is this hard to operate NO one in their right mind would buy it and they should have offered 3 to 6 month classes on how to operate the most technical pile of junk on the planet, But they didn't mention that all they could talk about was how great this printer was, and how fast it is and how profitable it will be.(Lets see 4 months in and over $4,000.00 lost.) So anyway they finally agreed to send someone to our shop to show us what we are doing wrong, The guy that came to shop was the smartest guy that any of us talked to at Coldesi inc., He did not throw the blame game on us he simply couldn't make the junk print right either using his Lap top computer and his cord. After changing out the firm ware to an updated Version and replacing a air pump that was not working, the junk finally made a good crisp print, Except for the color Blue, it still looked purple he then inspected the blue ink and he said it looked like it was to thin, Then he called ColDesi inc. and he told them about the bad ink of course they called me back and blamed that on us also, Accusing us of thinning it down or buying the ink from another source,(Can you believe That?) They will take no responsibility for any thing!!

Hold on it gets better, When I was talking to them about buying the equipment we ask them how much Ink would it take to print a full color 12"x12" print on a black shirt ( dark Shirts have to Have two passes one pass with white ink and the a pass with color ink we were Told around .60 cents per shirt, and it would take 4 minutes to print. I noticed that our test printing was using a lot of white ink so I ask the guy that was working on the printer how many shirts could you normally get out of a bottle of white ink he said around 100 shirts, Lets see a bottle of white ink cost $165.00 plus shipping Duhhh do the math $1.65 per shirt just counting the white ink NOT including the color ink. Remember the time they said it would take to print 4 minutes, Well scratch that try 8 to 12 minutes, When you need to do a minimum of 100 shirts per day and you can only print 40 and 15% of them messes up. You have a pile of Junk. Since I bought this equipment I lost numerous customers due to the poor printing and I have had to refund almost all of their money.. I called ColDesi inc. back and told them that My business will be closing down due to my losses with this printer. They still insist that its our fault...(Can You believe these guys? We print signs every day with a large format printers with NO problems.. I guess you have to be a Rocket Scientist to run this Pile of Junk. BEWARE of ColDesi inc. and the DTG brand of Direct to Garment Printers.... If you have already been sucked in by this company, Please post on here with your Horror story and Join in with us and our Class action Lawsuit, You may be able to get some of the money you have lost back..

Oh I believe it. I had a similar situation with a different DTG company called U.S. Screen. My machine came DOA and the company went out of biz shortly. I tried to fix mine but couldn't get it fixed. Funny though that I have fixed 5 since then! I think that I know what the problem is with your printer though, email me at creek@calitrendz.com . Most of these salesman don't know how the machines actually work because they're made in Japan by another company so tech support for these machines sometimes sucks. I do think though that the DTG Viper is the best machine on the market right now and have heard good things about it from friends in the print biz.

I've had my printer for 3 years now and i haven't had any trouble with it. When I did have a problem I called them and they called me back with in an hour and we sorted everything out... very easy and simple. Since Coldesi has taken over, I still get the same great service and everything. DTG and sign printing are 2 totally different subjects. I have done silk screen, vinyl and different types of sign printing. DTG is totally different and takes time to get used to, once you get your settings down, make sure they are the same every time you print and you'll be fine.

My Viper has been collecting dust since November.. Coldesi blames me too, mine makes a terrible sound when it gets to the end of the travel right before it goes back the other way. I have wasted hundreds of dollars of shirts and ink. Coldesi has stopped responding to my emails and when I call they always say they will get back to me.. I am making my payments but cant print, don't want to ruin my credit..
I am totally at a loss here, they got my money and now i'm stuck.

Viper owner dropping in here! I purchased my DTG Viper in March of 2013. I was initially not happy with the out of the crate operation. I was told that it may take up to a month to get familiar with the machine and all its ticks. For me, I would say it took a good two months to get in the groove with my Viper. Had to adjust the laser gap sensor a few times. Also had to tighten the print head belt to get my bidirectional printing registered just right.

As it stands now, my Viper is a work horse! It is happiest when printing, not sitting for days at a time. I purchased two platens and two heat presses along with my Viper. I feel this is the minimum setup one should purchase to take advantage of the conveyor belt loading system. While one platen is printing, I'm loading up the other platen with shirts. I don't rewind my conveyor belt, I just send the platen through and load up the other platen behind it. Down time between printing is 20 seconds! It is true that printing on darks can take a while with two passes. I often see 6 to 9 minute prints which means you're only doing 6 to 10 dark shirts an hour for large graphics. I just price according to graphic size and always make money on every print.

Anyway, it is a machine that will test your patience initially, but it wants to print! I think I rolled platens off the conveyor belt at least five times, and that will ruin your day. Taco a $700 platen and see if you can stay positive. The rip software is really counter intuitive, so many settings that just make no logical sense at all. It requires a massive amount of test printing to figure what the hell it going on. This is the month or two that it takes to get the machine dialed in. Like anything, once you get used to it, you're home free! I never drop platens anymore, I almost never ruin a tee, I don't waste ink.

If you expect a $20,000 machine to print perfect out of the crate (pretty reasonable idea) you will not be happy with the Viper. If you go into it knowing and accepting that you will have to get into the guts and brains of the system, you will be rewarded. I am a one man show working from home and it has been a great setup for me thus far. I still have a year left on my warranty and all is right with the world!
