We are a victim of fraud in the New Leaf/Quantum Business SCAM. That is winding through the court system now and has been since July 2005.

It sure takes a long time to convict a crook and get restitution for victims in Florida.

Did they know the person who signed their names or was it just random? How can we protect ourselves from the same thing happening? Especially if the property office does not verify transfers etc.

and what are they doing about the forged papers? what recourse does the couple have against this woman? if the documents are forged, how can she be the legal owner? does this mean forgery is legal?

How can something done illegally result in something legal?

I think the key word here is "appears". Once (if) they verify that the papers were forged, I'm sure the couple will again own their house. I just hope that if it is confirmed that this is a forgery, the woman is put away for a long time. If she is given probation (my guess), it will only encourage more people to try to get away with this crime.

Can't it be proved quite easily who made the payments on the house?? Would that not be proof in itself?

I hope these victims do not stop fighting! I hope the crook rots in prison and the companies or individuals who helped her - notary, attorney, and title company are sued and arrested as well, if they were not victims of forgery themselves. I hope the rightful owners receive their property back! Thank you for reporting on this horrible possibility and I hope that counties take measures to prevent actions like this.

The notary will certainly get into trouble if they notorize something with ID or unless they know the person. Sounds like a scam with several involved.

I guess the house being paid for made it easier for the crook to do it.

As a Notary you must verify signatures-unlike what the woman,Faux, says. They need to get the notary involved and see her books to verify she did her job- she should have all of the property owners information if she did the notary correctly. Also-why is the property appraiser involved in this mess- All she should have done was appraise the property- NOTHING ELSE!! She should not know about this stuff/mess unless she is involved- if this is the case- then maybe people should be looking at her too. I think these people are being taken adn both the state of Florida and the criminals are getting away with it. I hope they get their home and find out who is behind all of this. Seems like a big pot of p--p to me!!

Dawn, Here in Florida the Property Appraiser is the elected office where property records (of ownership) are kept after being recorded in the Clerk's Office). I believe in other parts of the country they are call Tax Assessors. They assess the value of your property for tax collection purposes for the County and State. This is not a property appraiser who would set a value on a property for a real estate transaction.

Ironic the Property Appraiser's name is "Faux", isn't it?

That's how they, the Pascell's, discovered it. When they went to pay the property tax, the tax office said it was already paid. Paid by the new "owner".

Sounds like in the long run the Pascell's got their property taxes paid for this year. And hopefully the FBI gets those idiots Maria and Armando Blanco. Then deport them both.
