I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I wouldn't send my one-legged dog,my red headed step child or my worst enemy to Westside in Plantation. They have been told for years that they are deficient, especially in patient care/interaction. They don't seem to care as long as their budget is met.
My mother was in Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation. Even though she was terminally ill, the staff played games with the pain medication - if you could even get their attention. I've taken my pets to vets that treated their animal patients way better than the staff at Westside Regional treats humans.

Yes, I have also heard from a lot of people that Memorial Hospital Miramar presents a look as a five-star hotel more than a hospital and it is Simply The Best & Great...

One huge problem. Vista insurance is the ONLY provider for all broward county government employees. Cleveland Clinic does not accept Vista. So, all hospitals do not take all insurance so we have to go to the hospitals on the list. There you have it. No real choice. Cleveland Clinic has surgeons that do the surgeries that most all others are refusing to do or do not know how to do.I know they were not even on the rating list this time.

I do agree that Cleveland clinic Hospital not the clinic but hospital is lacking in many ways. It is definitely not a hospital to go to in an emergency situation. They are not set up to get you in quickly. The doctors over-prescribe meds due to lack of communication between doctors on the clinic side and the "floor" doctors on the hospital side. Too many patients for too few nurses.Always take your copy of your power of attorney with you or have your designated poa have them make copies on every floor you end up on. They lose documents right and left. SAme for any hospital you go to. Keep the legal stuff in your car so you can get quick access to it. This is a MUST. A copy of your living will is a must.

My daughter, who spent her time with me 24/7 through my first surgery, has a simple approach to hospital care.
DON'T GO TO THE HOSPITAL UNTIL YOU HAVE A RELATIVE OR FRIEND TO GO WITH YOU--AND STAY WITH YOU!
You are absolutely correct! You really need someone there with you 24/7 if at all possible--have them keep their own chart, write down when/who shows up, drug names, dosages, times,--meals--tests, procedures, all that. Need someone with you at all times to advocate on your behalf.

If you're in rehab, you need a daily visitor as well--same stuff!

Must be missing something. The link takes me to a site where I can compare hospitals. I have to enter a condition. Where are these survey results? It's really funny==> if I am having chest pain I am not going to sit down at the keyboard and play "pick a hospital!"
Look at it again--you can compare hospitals by county--use the setting on the left-hand side of the page--I did. Coral Springs was there, by the way.

Does not come as a surprise that Westside & University Hospitals are ranked lowest..they are cesspools of disease and the worst care possible by both doctors and nursing staff..for the public good close these cesspools.

As a nurse, i understnad the rankings. One specific problem is ignored. The nurse patient ratio of these hospitals are extremely high and both nurses and PCA's overworked. But to correct this problem would require hiring more help wich does not seem to be something corporate owned hospitals seem to want to do

WEST BOCA MEDICAL CENTER OR "WEST BOCA CHOP SHOP", ONE IN THE SAME.
HERE'S A MEDICAL FACILITY THAT IS IN BAD NEED OF BEING SHUT DOWN.
WE HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THAT "SHLOCK HOUSE" OF A HOSPITAL. AS A VIET NAM VET IN SPECIAL OPS, I DON'T SCARE VERY EASY, BUT HAVING ALMOST LOST MY WIFE OF 54 YEARS OLD IN THAT HELL HOLE, TRUST ME, I WAS SCARED. SHE WENT INFOR A SWELLING PROBLEM WHICH I LATER RESEARCHED AND FOUND TO BE A PRESCRIPTION DRUG REACTION PRESCRIBED BY A QUACK PAIN MANAGEMENT, SO CALLED, DOCTOR THAT SHOULD BE SQUASHED LIKE THE COCKROACH THAT HE IS. MIND YOU IN THE THREE DAYS SHE WAS THERE, THE SWELLING WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. I WON'T GET INTO THE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WE HAD AT THAT CRAP HOLE OF A MEDICAL FACILITY, BUT I CAN SAY WE CAME VERY NEAR LOSING HER.
AFTER DEALING WITH THE WORTHLESS IDIOTS AND THIRD WORLD FLUNKIES THAT WORK THERE, HER OWN DOCTOR GOT HER STABALIZED AND RELEASED. I WON'T TELL YOU WHAT I TOLD HIM. I LITERALLY KISSED THE GROUND OUTSIDE WHEN I GOT MY WIFE IN THE CAR AND HEADED FOR HOME. IT TOOK MONTHS TO GET THE HORROR OUT OF HER HEAD, SHE STILL HAS FLASHBACKS.
WEST BOCA MEDICAL CENTER IS A VERY DANGEROUS FACILITY AND IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE OR THE LIFE OF YOUR LOVED ONES, STAY THE HELL OUT OF THAT CHAMBER OF HORRORS.
THE INCOMPETENCE, POOR SERVICE,AND THE POEPLE THAT WORK THERE ARE THE MOST DISGUSTING, DEPLORABLE FAILURES I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED, WITH NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE.
THEY HAD THE GALL TO SEND ME A BILL FOR MY PORTION OF PAYMENT. I GAVE THE C.E.O. OF TENET CORP., OWNERS OF WEST BOCA MEDICAL CENTER, A CHOICE, I WILL PAY YOUR FEE WHICH WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY A GIGANTIC LAW SUIT OR WE CAN BOTH WALK AWAY FROM THIS WITH SOME DEGREE OF HONOR. HE CHOSE THE LATER.
DISCRETION IS THE BETTER PART OF VALOR.
What a drama queen! A gigantic lawsuit?'Cause your wife lived? Tell her to stay off the oxycontin next time. Don't be so law suit happy. Be glad she survived tough guy.

You hit the nail on the head. As you know, a nurse can do a good job with 6-8 beds at the most with a good pct. Now, 10-12 or even more beds is common. Greedy bastards keep the staff stressed and the patients suffering. The CEOs|CFOs should be castrated. The almighty dollar rules.

University hosp. is the worst. I worked there for 7 years, seen many many mistakes covered up. Seen management strut around the halls like big shots, when patients lay in bed Begging for a bed pan, while the overweight lazy nurses are eating chicken wings, ignoring the bells.. They could care less, and for pay, they pay the Lowest, so they get all the dumb a_)_) nurses from the Islands, who couldnt care less if you croaked in the bed. Oh, maybe they would, then they would have more paperwork, taking time away from feeding their lazy fat belly..
Stay away, they have a large rate of Staff infections too!

The worst hospital by far is University Hospital and Pavilion especiallly the Pavilion.

If Medicare fraud is at 60 Billion annually then they account for most of it.

The doctors are all about the money, blatant Medical Fraud,Medicare Fraud and I.R.S. tax evasion.

It's not about a patients welfare,it's how much money can I generate for the hospital. It's patients risk and doctor fraud.

It's a "for profit hospital" and rip the government blind.

Daniel E. Chervony should be sent to prison. He's a hopeless sinner who only thinks of himself not mankind. The ultimate hypocrit!!

Proof upon request !!

Get rid of Daniel E. Chervony !!

The ridiculous Hospital, thst's University Hospital. They had the nerve to actually write me a letter stating these a typical anti-psychotic drugs are not dangerous. What chutzpah !!

There crippling and life threatening, This isn't dangerous to them ?

Go Alternative medicine, I did and much much better off. There way I was at deaths door.

Afflicted with chronic diarhea they set up for the colonscopist when in reality I was afflicted with a liver disorder.

I could go on an on !! Moskowitz is Chervony's partner in crime.

The only one grandioso was fat boy Chervony !!This idiot is more mentally deranged then the Ft. Hood psychiatrist. It's uterly ridiculous the government pays for their testimonies.
