She was the beautiful gift born last Christmas - an energetic baby who cooed during church services and waved happily at Thanksgiving dinner last week.

I wonder if the family didn't want to ask for help (pride) or no one would give any. I would think churches would help their flock when they can't even afford to pay the FPL bill.
I know I read Salvation Army and others were helping pay electric bills for people. What an awful tragedy.

This woman was a youth pastor, do they not get paid?
Or does she do it out of the goodness of her heart?
Seems that if you can't pay bils enough to keep the lights on, you need to get a job!
Now her son is dead, all because instead of getting a job she ministered, lot of good that did.
The first thought here "as they were running out of the house" should have been for the "kids", instead they thought of themselves and left an 11 month old in a burning apartment, I would have died to get my baby out of there.

Call me cynical, but I'm really having a hard time figuring out why this *mother* couldn't throw a toddler under one arm and a baby under the other and get out of the burning apartment.

Continue to call me cynical when everyone involved (friends, family etc.) is a haha Pastor and no one could pass a collection plate to help these people with their electric bill.

Good thought, I was under the impression churches helped those in need.
Yet, their own youth pastor had no electric?

This is a terrible tragedy that ended an innocent life. And I send condolences out to the family.

However, tragedy doesn't halt the need to question irresponsible behavior. It is NOT heartless to wonder why a mother left behind her infant to die. I believe most parents, like myself, wouldn't have left the apartment without the baby or would have died trying.
