So far, I have begun the discussion to change our borough/community for the better. But before I continue, once more, I want to make it CLEAR that I have been addressing Borough operations, NOT THE POLICE Department. I have no issue with the police, and believe they are a different entity with a different set of rules.

We have elderly people whom I have spoken to over the years, and they are scared to make waves. I hope some of them have computers and know about this site to they can let their gripes and concerns be a part of the discussion.

We MUST also take care of our elderly home owners KEEP THEIR HOMES by continuing the push to slash local costs and keep them down! When an elderly person leaves, the property may either stand vacant, or, be bought by out of town undesirables. Furthermore, by doing good by the elderly, we younger people will also be making home ownership in our own senior years reality.

On this forum, as things heat up, it is very likely that a a local politician, a spouse or a member of borough management will post here anonymously to blast someone like me. It is expected because the sacred cocoon is being disrupted. In time, the "servants" (haha) will also try revolt in their own way.
This is why we as a community must stand together and NOT abandon those who speak out. And remember, we are responsible people who want to know what every responsible head of household needs to know to make a budget and control costs.
We are right.
Our intentions are good--we want to control the expenses "they" basically claim cannot be controlled.

while you're crusading....how about being as emotional about the elimination of property tax. That single issue would help so many people, including the elderly.

I am very passionate about it, but I am one person. I have to pick an issue of the moment where I think I can make the biggest dent.

Lately, I have been touting the radio show, Air Your Opinion because it is a valuable tool for someone trying to get the word out to a mass of people on a topic they feel passionate about. Politician fear such a show because it INFORMS people and RALLIES them for a cause.

Tomorrow the show is on from 9a-noon. Call or have someone else call. Keep your issue in peoples' ears since all of us have such busy lives that we tend for forget.

Oh yes, I want the property tax eliminated, especially here in the local counties where we are, IN MY FIRM OPINION, in a depression. Even before this, people were suffering, especially the elderly.

I would jump for joy at seeing our PRECIOUS elderly citizens being able to stay in their homes a whole lot longer.

Obviously a former client.....yes it is I the infamous "Officer Woods".

Sorry pal, I will not shut up upon your feeble command. And since my post urged you to make that comment, I will be sure to continue to post my comments for you to see.

Just a reminder that THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE has not died and will NOT go away. When it appears as though people have forgotten, we have not. In reality, we are speaking amongst ourselves. Change must come.

Payroll, fringe benefits, staffing, how we acquired a UNIONIZED workforce, accountability, purchasing, municipal planning...must all be brought to the floor so, WE, the people they are supposed to SERVE, can decide how OUR MONEY is being sapped!

When people like myself are talked about and labeled "troublemakers" inside Borough Hall (I am sure this happening), it is a sure sign that the citizens have a big problem on their hands.

They want to build a new police station.

We don't need it!

What else is being planned?

If you know they're labeling some people as troublemakers and know the borough doesn't need a new police station, why don't you know what else is being planned?

Instead of bit**hing anonymously on this website, why don't you run for office and correct all the wrongs you "see" being committed?

This borough, and many others, need more than one passionate, combative person running for office. They need the publics' support, which will not happen until people are fed up ENOUGH.

You are another questionable citizen who, apparently, would feel better if no one spoke. What I gather from you is that everything is A-okay with local government. Am I mistaken? As a rule, people are pissed off, but you are not. Hmmm. I wonder why.

#1 I will not lose my job because unlike you I do not post anything on here that is stupid or would cause me to lose my job.

#2 Telling me I am a "sucky ass cop" is like a badge of honor coming from you. Obviously you must have been on the receiving end.

#3 My opinion not mattering to you is not my concern. Just like I'm tired of it, I have the right to post whatever I want. And since I am employed by the borough, I am able to provide insight to certain issues that most people are not aware of.

#4 I did not blast anyone. I was receiving the blast from OMG. And if someone cannot counter what I say with common sense and slams me in the process, they are going to get it right back, taxpayer or not.

I will comment on the "new" police station theory later, have to go to work the parade..

What did I miss? How did Officer Wood's issues get in here?

Okay, I wasn't paying attention.

I have nothing against Officer Wood, and never be swayed by anyone's negative opinion.

Ok, the new police station idea...

The concept of having a new police station has been kicked around between myself and Ken Smulligan for the last six years. The problem was that there was no money for it or a building/land to have one.

The current confines of Borough Hall are way too small for the department. I can see I'm tired of it jumping up and down, hear me out. The layout of the current station is poor. There is no room to expand and we have simply run out of room. The floor plan of the current station makes no sense from a law enforcement point of view. It is not anyone's fault it is that way, it is just the way stations were built in small towns years ago. Police Departments usually got a room or two inside a borough or township building and we were no exception.

Sadly those days are behind us. The needs and role of law enforcement have changed dramatically. The current space we occupy is outdated and is not law enforcement friendly. So the idea of a new station is out there. In my opinion, I think that Tamaqua should have a modern station. We are, without a doubt, the busiest department in the county and our facility is pathetic. If it is done right, this idea could become reality without killing the taxpayer. But it has to be done right and without cutting any corners.

What would make me feel better is to have people like you actually walk the walk. Everything is far from A-OK with local government, but those problems aren't going to be solved by anonymously posting complaints here. If, as a rule, people are really pissed off, why aren't they doing something about it, offering that public support you say is needed?

As for Officer Woods and his statements concerning a new police station, the current station definitely doesn't meet the needs of the borough. Good luck with your efforts, especially the part about not killing the taxpayer.

"Walk the walk"? You're expecting me to do what? Walk into Borough Hall like the Terminator? First people put their feelings out in a public forum. This is not a prize fight where I have to prove how tough I am by placing my name address and phone number here. Get serious.

People hear me and, if there is enough support, we move forward. People like you are, basically, saying you have no big problems with Tamaqua government ARE questionable. Apparently, you hear from a different group of Tamaqua folk than I listen to in town. YOu know, I have not heard from even one person if a very long time who is not tired of the nonsense at Borough Hall.
Go get all of your people who adore the Borough and make them tell us readers why I am so out of line in my thinking.
I'd really be interested in reading something that someone put some though into, rather than meaningless personal attacks.

Another thing: Sometimes I get a sense that some of the bashers go by more than one screen name. Just a passing thought.
