Bob--You are a liar if you say that the Hispanic folks are wearing the swim attire as the locals.
Either that or you are blind.
What I said was on the day I was there, several hispanic folks were there and I saw nothing wrong with what they had on. Obviously, I wasn't there when you were.

I'd like to know why nothing has been said or done about the illegal after hours parties the pool manager and Councilwoman Miorelli approved for the lifeguards and their friends. Why would anyone expect the lifeguards to enforce the rules when they are guilty of breaking them themselves?

the party was not in any way illegal! what was posted in the news paper was completely quoted wrong. Every year the lifeguards, clerks, and managers throw a party whether it be at the pool, a house, knobles, heislers, etc. Shannon and Kyle called the borough for permission from the borough manager but due to the fact that he was on vacation they were told to call the next person in line which was Mrs. Miorelli. Permission WAS given and she even sent emails to a few borough members to let them know the after hour campout was approved. The cops were even notified before the night of the campout. It's not anyone's fault that reporters get stories wrong but before you are too quick to judge be SURE of what you are talking about. Nobody besides staff members were there. The only reason any of it was an issue was because a few borough memebrs were concerned someone would get hurt and there would be a libability factor.

and it was a one time occurence. Even the part where steve tertel was quoted to say,"i had no idea about the party and when i heard i went to the police station," was complete bogus considering his OWN DAUGHTER was in attendance! He even offered to bring extra soda and food the day before the campout occured! sound a little like someone got the entire story wrong, i think so!

Really??? I didn't know the borough manager or a single council person could give ANYONE permission to trespass. Yes, the police were told about the party, but had they known the true circumstances, they would have broken it up before it had a chance to get started. And yes, the other council members were worried about possible injuries, liabilities and LEGALITIE. If someone other than the pool staff (how many adults were there?) wants to have an after hours party and access to the pool, will Mrs. Miorelli tell them she sees no problem with it too?

Please don't let this thread end until someone tells me where I can go to see pictures of what the Bungalow looks like today.:) Is there possibly a website or something that would show this? My 89 year old mother who grew up in Tamaqua would love to see pictures how it has changed since we were last there 40 years ago.It was a favorite place of hers and my father's.

Thank you so much Shannon for the Bungalow picture! My mother really enjoyed seeing that picture so much, you really made her day!Like I said earlier she is 89 years old and she loves to recall her great memories of growing up in Tamaqua. She and my father spent many days at the Bungalow. She remembers when it had a dirt bottom to it, and watched it change for the better as the years went by. She hasn't seen it since 1967. I appreciate you taking the time to post that picture, and my mother sends her thanks!

My parents are Hayes and Dorothy Jean Minnick. My Mom's maiden name was Livingstone. Her parents (Jack and Adeline Livingstone) lived on Greenwood Street and my Dad's parents (Kiah and Eva Minnick)lived on Gay Street. My parents moved to Florida in 1952,but we would spend summer vacations in Tamaqua with my Grandparents who lived on Gay Street. I am Donna, and I have 2 older sisters, Lois and Hazel, and a brother, Philip. Recognize any of us? We would go to the Bungalow almost everyday of our summer vacation there...great memories!

My mother said she knew Betty Southam from the Reading Hospital where my mother did her Nurse's Training and became a nurse. She also knew another young lady in Nurse's Training by the last name of Southam. She said my father went to school with some Haldeman's. She is going to get out her Tamaqua High School Yearbooks and find the names. She loves her memories! My grandparents lived at 106 Gay Street and raised mu Dad and his 2 brothers there.(Loved that house as a kid!!!) I on the other hand very specifically remember Kenny Southam who was a lifeguard at the Bungalow around 1967 or 1968...related??
