I did not make the accusation, nor did I name say this man's position within the District. All I did was address a the accusation. Your question would be better served if it was directed at culprit (another with 10,000 forum tags) who brought this man's name and a harsh accusation.

Yes the District has problems, but making annoying, childish accusations is not a cure. First of all, taxpayers need to make district business their business. Like everywhere else in local government, begin with the BUDGET. After all, our money is the source of THEIR power and contentment.

40 years ago, teachers and administrators had to do a lot more to keep their jobs than they do today. This included unionized teachers. In fact, they EARNED they jobs when, today's teachers, take them for granted. A good wage back then, in terms of real dollars, was also a lot less than what today's teachers expect. Personally, I'm disgusted and alarmed because this IS only going to get worse...at the expense of good education.

Are all teachers bad? No way! The problem is that good teachers who have a sincere devotion to conscientious teaching are few and far apart! Bad teachers, on the other hand, cannot be fired.(how nice) Even worse, the knowledge that "nobody gets fired" has made oversight and (appropriate) punishment almost non-existent.

End result: We not only keep the apples, but we (haha) PROMOTE them so they can corrupt the system even more. Even worse, these same individuals feel invincible, especially since OUR money is on the line, AND there is very little oversight or accountability we at the grassroots level can bring about.

As a taxpayer, the first thing I want to see is the ELIMINATION of teachers' unions. In the past, I've talked about contemptuous, anti-taxpayer "cultures" that evolve within the seats of government, and the same thing has been happening in school districts Therefore eliminating the source of their invincibility (the union) would certainly make them rethink everything they've been taking for granted.

What we can do? Call our reps and congressmen, and tell them to outlaw teachers' unions. We also have to consider other alternative ways giving the kids a good education at a much more reasonable cost.

*Special note: This forum has been frequented by, what I call, militant pro-public union individuals who did not even pay attention to me...... until, a little over a year ago, I made my views perfectly clear. Since then, they have been attacking me at every turn and today will be yet another opportunity. Tip: Do not pay attention to the forum tags, but rather, look for VERBIAGE! THese people amount to no more than roughly 3 or 4 and, once you know who they are, everything will make better sense.

*Out with all public unions, except for life and limb ones (police in particular). The only unions that should freely exist.....are PRIVATE SECTOR UNIONS because they will benefit BOTH the private sector and the public sector employee!

First off i must say that Tamaqua School District as a whole is strict. But, having children in the district I feel its a very good thing. Sure my son gets into trouble for minor things, but a school is for learning and order must be maintained. I was very disruptive as a student and maybe if i was disciplined harded then i wouldve stopped sooner than i did.
As far as the district having problems look around Tamaqua is one of the finest schools in our area. In case you havent noticed there have been alot of great improvments, and now Tamaqua has become a Middle States school which is a HUGE deal that normally only EXPENSIVE PRIVATE schools achieve. My wife teaches at Lehighton and they dont do half of the maintainence projects that Tamaqua does, and they are well behind us in student performance and Technology!

First of all we need to get some new people on the
School Board. Second, we have to many administrators that collect a lot of money to do nothing. Do we need a an Assistant Superintendant? Do we need an Assistant Principal for the High School? I think not. I think we have some good teachers and we have some bad teachers. I think the School Board and the Teachers Union need to sit down and negotiate a contract that the tax payers of the school district can live with, remembering that there are a lot of people in Tamaqua who are on a fixed income.

When the person wrote "Steve Behr" he was answering someones question who asked "who is the elementary principal". Then he wrote that the High school principal is prejudice....he was not saying that Steve Behr was the high school principal. So for you say that the "culprit" made a harsh accusation about Steve Behr - the "culprit" did not do that. Go back and look at the post again - you will see that After he wrote "steve Behr" he left the next line blank and made the accusation about the High School Principal...who is a SHE- you kept saying HE. You misunderstood the post and commented about Steve being the high school principal.

Best wishes to Mrs. Gardner. I had nothing but trouble with her and Tamaqua Schools. It was a relief when my kids finally were finished with that place. I can honestly say that I did not feel that my kids got a quality education on most levels. I am glad to see that they are getting it together and trying to turn things around. I just hope that this move is the appropriate and most productive move for the Tamaqua School District. As for Mr. Behr, I have had met him several times and have dealt with him before and have found him to to be one of the better assets Tamaqua has had. I want to wish him all the luck in whatever is planned for him next. If it is dealing with Tamaqua Schools he will undoubtablely need it.

You seem to have forgotten that your friend there AXED you from the football boosters. AND DON'T TRY TO DENY IT, EVERYONE KNOWS. But, she didn't have the balls to tell you, someone else did. The administration was correct in having you banned from any booster clubs.

My highschool principal has done a lot for me before I graduated. Not only me but many other kids that I know of. She is strict. She is a principal and thats what her job is. And if she wasnt strict enough, the same people who talk about her now would say she was a joke. She has done a lot for that school, so before you talk about her, get to know her.
She played her favorites all the time. Some students she made serve detention for missed school days and others she let go. A friend of mine, a senior this year, missed some 35 days of school as a junior. Not only was he promoted as a senior, but he did not have to make up the time he missed like the vo-tech student who had to stay after school and make up the hours until he accounted for the days he was out! She is unfair and a liar. Don't trust her. Everyone at the high school can't wait until she is gone. I feel bad for the staff and students at the middle school to get her back. Watch out everyone!

No one likes her! I read another post stating that she lies. This is true. I heard that she only works in the district so her kids can go there for free. She caused problems at Panther Valley when her kids went to Panther Valley...none of the teachers liked her there when they had to deal with her.

If she is running special education, unbelievable. I also heard a parent at Tamaqua had to press charges against her for trespassing and harassment.

None of the students like her. She barks at them. My daughter talks about her announcements on the PA system at the high school all the time. She used to bark at students over the PA system in the middle school too. She should not be allowed to even use it, it scares the students, and we're all worried about gunmen. Gardiner scares the kids to death! If she was fair that would be another thing. Talk to kids, they are not dogs, don't bark at them!

She tried to be buddies with kids and it didn't work! She would go to kids houses and cross the line...try to get them to go to school. It was her, no one wants to go to school when she's there all in your face. She walks around in those sneakers all day, she is the one who needs a dress code, not the staff. One day I walked into the office and she was walking around in her socks!

Yeh, best wishes to Mrs. Gardiner. I heard that last week a staff member was collecting money for her and no one wanted to donate! This same staff member also got a cake for her and no one wanted to attend the going AWAY party. The bottom line, her own staff is glad to see her gone. NO ONE should hire this woman. She is vicious and mean, not administrative material. It is about time the district finally realized all the problems she has caused. I am sure her move is a demotion so her kids can still stay in the district. Any one who deals with her has problems!
