An original Tuskegee Airman dies in Ohio at 86

One of the original Tuskegee Airmen, the country's first black military pilots and ground crew, has died in Cleveland.

I am saddened to hear the passing of Tuskegee Airman, Sgt James Travis. I had the awesome pleasure of meeting him and several of the other gentlemen at an event years ago in Columbus. I admire Sgt James Travis for his honorary service. True men like him and his fellow Sgts are precious and few in this day and age. May God bless Sgt Travis and his family. May you continue his legacy.

What a loss for us....but a gain for Heaven! Truly, Sgt. Travis is one of the many pillars who helped build this country. All honor goes to him for his courageous stand in being heard and seen!

When I was a very young teen, Mr Homer Weathers took me flying with him in his antique airplane. I was honored to have flown from Port Columbus to Delaware County airport with him. I was very fortunate that my dad met him while he was doing touch and go's at the airport in Delaware.

What a hero ! All of them. I was in Alabama last year and drove an hour out of my way to visit Tuskegee. Glad I did
