The gun must be locked in the glove box of a locked car. Any business owner, or security guard does not have the right to search a car, A cop cannot either, without 'probable cause'. So a business owner would never know which car does or does not have a gun in it. People should be allowed to protect themselves going to and from work,
DON"T YOU READ THE NEWSPAPERS, matbe a few shot would be carjackers would lower crime rates.

Good news.

This is an outrageous suggestion, as an HR Director
this could have a very serious outcome during a "termination of employment".( Postal syndrome), it does not allow for the employee to leave the premises (cool off), he or she will have the weapon in the parking lot readily available. FORIDA SAY NO!! |

Controversial my a*s*s.
If someone has taken the class, and gone through legal channels to 'carry'...then they should TOTALLY be allowed to carry ANYWHERE! This thing of 'selectively applying' the 2nd amendment is CRAP! |
Number one, the way you guys terminate people by thrusting a cardboard box at a guy at their desk in front of everyone and giving them 30 minutes to clear out their personal belongings while some secutity goon stands over them and then hustling them out to their car and snatching off their ID badge as they get in is enough to infuriate a Tibetan Monk. Some of you should be shot for doing this to a person who has worked for years for you and has no warning he or she is about to be fired - maybe a month or two short of retirement? Maybe because the boss wants to trim out anyone over 50 and replace them with two twinky cuties he might have a chance of getting into their pants ? Second, a couple of miles further to their house to pick up the gun, extra ammo and a few drinks won't quell the anger you arrogant bastards frequently instill in your former employees and in some cases, not all, you richly deserve all you get. Treat people fairly, honestly, kindly, friendly, and honor your commitments regarding retirement benefits, medical benefits, pay raises, promotions and you wont have to worry about employees going postal. The ones of you scared to death of having employees with guns in their cars probably have real reason to fear from their own guilt and memory of everything they have said and done in the past to their employees and knowledge of what they plan to do in the future and they want everyone to be ignorant up to the last minute and of course helpless and disarmed, caught totally offguard. Stop treating employees like slaves on the old plantation and treat them with respect and responsibility and nobody will be thinking about violence. |

I don't know where you get your info...but a properly owned firearm in the possession of someone with a CWP does NOT have to be locked in a glovebox! I guess the average driver should expect that the 'would be carjacker' is going to let them stop the car, get their keys, then open their locked govebox to get their firearm? Not hardly. |

And this law also allows the SANE workers to stand between the psycho and your death..... Send someone to THEIR car to make sure this guy leaves quietly..... BTW...why are you hiring mentally disturbed people anyway? LOL |

This would do absolutely nothing to prevent crime and is just about the most insane law passed in Florida (there have been worse unfortunately). This will do nothing to reduce workplace violence or give someone the ability to protect themselves. If the gun has to be locked in the car and a person comes in shooting, how much time passes while you run out to your car for your weapon. And, having multiple guns firing is just a recipe for disastor. Picture this, a deranged person comes in shooting and five people go running out to their car for guns. They come back in and what's next? They look for someone with a gun to "defend themselves". Can you say friendly-fire (or collateral damage, choose your descriptor).
As for private employers, they have every right to tell someone that guns are not allowed on the property, it's their property and their business. People have the right to own guns, businesses have the right to control their property. They also have the right to fire someone for having a weapon on their property, right to bear arms is not a federally protected discrimination standard. By the way, searches of vehicles are more than allowable at businesses or by police, probable cause leaves quite a bit of open grey area for interpretation. |

A gun locked in the car won't do much to stop the transient from coming in and setting pregnant women on fire. I'll bet SMART people keep their weapon WITH them.

DAMN RIGHT!!!! I AGREE 100% |

Great News...Lockheed Martin has illegally searched cars and fired several people over the years.Hope they get their back pay.

You know something that concerns me? I am a single female and I used to and will have to travel down a small unlit highway back and forth from my house to Orlando at night. What happens if we get ourselves one of those serial rapists who pose as cops? And I can't bring my gun to work or school (university). It's not just about protecting yourself at work. That is the employer's responsibility as far as I'm concerned. However, it is the trip to and from that concerns some people. Someone tries to car jack me, follow me to me car, etc. etc. what good does my gun do me sitting at home because it wasn't allowed to sit in my car?

This is a GREAT idea...but you will note that the legislators did NOT add any part about permitting guns in public buildings thereby keeping their own butts safe. So it's only us poor slobs in the private workplace that have to worry about
co-workers/spouses/ex's/weirdo s-with-a- mission/dissatisfied customers/etc etc etc. |

Sure let's just revive the term "Going Postal"

I agree with you on this. What exactly does a CWP allow an individual to do actually? |
|
|
I think we would have less shootings if everyone carried a gun. UGHH. Just when you though our elected officials here in Florida could not get any dumber.

In the first place, the individual would not have the gun "at work". It would be locked up, and not directly accessable. Secondly, business, and property rights should always come second to individual rights; such as the right to personal protection. And lately in Central Florida, personal protection is becoming more important. What part of our Constitution do these so called law makers not understand. When you place your hand on the Bible, and swear to uphold, and defend the Constitution, then attempt to pass legislation that contradicts the personal freedoms guaranteed by that document, you have essentially committed treason! Remember who you represent; the citizens of the United States of America. Not the liberal media, special interest, and socialistic "we know what's good for you", groups.
The Constitution is pretty plain, maybe our elected representitives should actually read it, and understand it. |

so now the crazy guys can break into someones car who is parked at work and get a gun and kill a few students.

Very dumb.

See, the dummycrats want you to be easy targets for their children, the ones that have been raised on our welfare tax money.. They want us to be unable to protect ourselves.
"This was the most boneheaded bill we'll pass this session," Rep. Mary Brandenburg, D-West Palm Beach, said afterward. " ... It's beyond belief to think it's essential to have guns at work." WHAT'S BEYOND BELIEF IS THE FACT THAT SHE DOESN'T GRASP THE AMOUNT OF VIOLENT RANDOM CRIME AND MURDERS THAT OCCUR EVERY DAY. I suppose the millions of dollars in lawsuits against the employers after employees get shot dead in their parking lots after work wouldn't matter to the dummycrats either.. |
