I am afraid that your adoption fee is way too high. You can spay or neuter your animal for a lot less at a local vet. You may think you have a good thing going here but I am sure you won't last like the others who have tried. Without a larger organization backing you, you just need too much and your prices are too high.

just wondering- what vet you use. The one i have used is around $ 80.00, and i think that is high.
Would love to get three cats fixed, but can't spend the $240.00 for that.

I'm afraid I would have to agree.

Rhonda, have you thought of taking your cats to a spay-and-neuter clinic? They are usually really reasonable.
Dr. Fields in Wister, OK is very reasonable for animals and is quite caring. It has been awhile since I had an animal spayed or neutered but it was less than $50.

You are not having a very good attitude right now. I am all for rescue but I just stated that your fees are very high. I am well aware of the costs of doing rescue. I did rescue for over 10 years myself. It is great that you are finding homes for these animals but when you start getting a lot in, you will have problems finding people to adopt them. Times are hard right now and I applaud your efforts but until you get a vet to do greatly discounted spays and neutering for you, have a large pet store donating opened bags of dog food to you, and until you get a supplier to donate the meds and stuff for you, you cannot lower your prices and do some real good. A lot of people in this area already has animals and just need a cheaper way to spay or neuter their animal. I was offering some alternatives for them.

Mother of 3, thanks for the info. I wish we had a local spray and netur clinic locally. Seems there is always a big event i have going the weekend of the ones around the area. I have a real nice momma cat with no little ones right now, if anyone would want to give her a good home. She is sweet, we just have 4 and she isn't my favorite.

Witt has to cover her cost, and mother of 3 has a good point. you need that 501c3 letter that you can show to large sponsors to help lower your cost. The number of folks that can pay the $80 and want to adopt will be limited. To help- keep track of all your mileage and out of pocket expenses. These are all tax deductable. mileage is the one factor that will usually makes a difference between paying income tax and getting a refund. just keep a log book in your vehicle.

i hope you can find some large sponsors to help out. I know you are doing a lot already, but if you could help us get a local spayed and neuter clinic here in Talihina that would be wonderful. i will help you as much as i can.

There is a spay and neuter clinic in Clayton once a month. They have a waiting list. It doesn't matter the size or breed of your animal the cost is the same. I have an appt. to have my Great Dane fixed for $45. Every Vet I called quoted me $100 to $150.I understand that this is a grant that is being used for spaying and neutering animals. This clinic has an ad in the newspaper. I believe it was the Clayon paper.

Looks like many here had good reason for concern. Witts Inn was a sham...taking people's chipin money and losing (and killing) animals...I think (I hope) she is in jail now with the rest of the evil doers involved (Cajun Country Animal Rescue, to be specific...Witts Inn's partner in the crime). So sad that the innocent animals had to suffer at the hands of these trolls and that the great volunteer teams that thought reputable rescues were coming to the animals aid also had to suffer. It is beyond disgusting.

Lacie Lowry, News On 6, NewsOn6.com
LATIMER COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A husband and wife who ran a Wilburton animal rescue were arrested and their three children taken by the state after authorities raided the Cajun Country Animal Rescue Ranch.
Anne and Shane Duhon were taken into custody on complaints of animal cruelty by Latimer County Sheriff's deputies, and over 75 animals have been taken from the property.
"I've been in law enforcement for ten years and I've never seen anything that bad," said Latimer County Sheriff Robbert Brooks.
The 15-acre Cajun Country Ranch was supposed to be a haven for animals, but the sheriff says it was the complete opposite.
"It was kinda like a horror movie with all the animals there. You could see the bones, see the ribs, see the backbones," he said.
After warning the ranch owners several times to clean up their operation, the sheriff says his office seized 79 animals from the property, mostly dogs, cats and horses.
The animals were reportedly severely malnourished and weren't getting any veterinary care. Investigators couldn't even catch all the dogs.
Walking around the property, we spotted dozens of animal bones and skeletons, some piled up in make-shift graves.
Inside the owner's trailer, investigators found an 8, 11 and 14-year-old.
"Animal feces on the bed, on the children's bed, dogs in the trailer house, feces covering the floor, cockroaches covering the floor," Brooks said.
The children had to be treated for tick, flea and other insect bites.
Anne Duhon did comment on her Facebook page about the allegations, writing "I have given the animals everything and I am willing to go to jail for them."
"Being humanely euthanized would be better than what they were going through," said Caryn Hass-Bearden of PAWS, an animal rescue group.
Hass-Bearden is helping investigators and she wants strict punishment for the Duhons.
"What my wish is that they would be stuck in a pin like they had all those animals with no food or water," she said.
The Duhon's three kids are in DHS custody and Latimer County is trying to figure out where the 79 animals they seized go from here.
Deputies are also looking into the ranch's non-profit status and whether the Duhon's violated that by accepting donations that weren't used for the animals.
William Brogden, Executive Director of The Oklahoma Board of Commercial Pet Breeders, assisted in the raid, the sheriff said.

That is terrible. Thanks for sharing the news report. It didn't say anything about Witt rescue. How do you know they are partners? I haven't seen the Witt's in some time. Are they still in the area?
