I really like the new electronic sign. It is a nice touch. I wish Talihina would get one like it.

My daughter was in the 5th grade last year and hated her teacher Mrs. Gilbert. She told me how many students left the school because of her.

maybe the parents should complain and get her out of there then.

I am glad to hear the positive comments. I hope to hear a lot more positive comments. I think it's hard on the reputation of our school to have so many negative comments and not very many positive. My kids have been to other schools and I have worked at other schools and I there aren't many that beat BV. They may offer more but you always trade something for those extras.

Hello, OMG!! Mrs. Gilbert is one of the best teachers Buffalo Valley has ever had. She loves and cares about the kids very much!!! She sets the bar high and expects the kids to try and reach them. She encourages the kids.. I have students in the Buffalo Valley School District and they love it very much! They would never go anywhere else. I don't know of any students leaving B.V. because of Mrs. Gilbert - Give Me A BREAK!!! Kids are leaving B.V. for sports!!! Everyone knows that... If Buffalo Valley had winning teams they wouldn't be losing kids at all!! When your losing people lose their loyalty and run away to a winning team. They are not leaving because of any teacher. Shame on any of you for saying "crap" about Mrs. Gilbert she is awesome. Any student who has a problem with Mrs. Gilbert probably has a problem with authority or accomplishment. Buffalo Valley is an awesome school with great teachers who care about their students!!! You would never find a school that loves their students as much as they do at B.V.

valleygirlforlife thats your opinion and you dont know all the reasons why people leave there. There are kids who have left that dont even play sports. just because your kids love it and wouldnt go anywhere else doesnt mean its wonderful for everyone!!!! some of the people from bv that bad mouth others for leaving have actually at some point talked about leaving or moved their own kids back and forth. i know some that mouthed and then later moved their kids too. all for various reasons. seriously they have lost sooo many kids. there were bv teachers that even moved their kids out of there. there has got to be a problem somewhere!!!!! im not saying anything bad about mrs. gilbert but there is or was definantly a problem. as far as loyalty goes it sounds like the parents who moved their kids are loyal to family and whats best for theirs!

Possibly someone is wanting Ms. Gilberts position. Could that be the motive for discrediting her? Who qualifies?

I personally think the school system is in real trouble. I think the new superintendent has gone to far doing everyones job but his own.If you dont feel that the employees can do the job then why have them. I feel that he should guide them, not intimidate them. Its his way no matter what, acts like a warden more than a leader maybe he needs some help, The parents need to go to the board meetings and see just what goes on.I think we need a new superintendent

Look at the record. No superintendent has been able to stay at BV. There has been about 20 in the last 22 years. Either they are perceived as not doing enough to doing too much. Until a Supt is allowed to stay and build a system, you will get more of the same. Sounds as though this district could save money by just letting the teachers and community run things. Could that bethe current problem?

I have to say that I haven't personally seen this sup doing other people's job or acting like a warden. I really agree that parents, teachers and community members should be coming to the board meetings. I started going a couple of years ago and I bet there have only been about 10 visitors in that time. Parents and teachers should be at every meeting before they start griping. I don't really think the school is in the trouble that everyone says. I remember hearing that the school was closing when I attended school there over 20 years ago. Things are tight for schools everywhere not just BV. Tulsa, Broken Bow, McAlester are all doing things to save money. It's the economy and gross production.

Spectater, it is never a popular thing to have to cut staff. It may be the case of doing this unpopular move or closing the school doors due to lack of money. Ammons is in a "damned if you do or damned if you don't" situation.

Check the news, schools all over the state are cutting teachers. Tulsa cut almost 200 teachers at Christmas and furloughed other non classroom employees. They are now looking at not rehiring 225 first year teachers. Many school are not replacing teachers who retire or resign. The State Department of Education is also changing some of the rules that schools usually have to follow, such as not requiring schools to purchase new library books, no limits on class sizes etc. This is not a problem that is only affecting Buffalo Valley.
