American Apparel: 'Legalize Gay' T-Shirts Provoked Vandalism, Threats

Full story: gay_blog.blogspot.com

An American Apparel store's decision to prominently display a pro-gay T-shirt has resulted in vanadalism and death threats, a spokesperson for the chain told ABC 7 News. Vandals smashed the windows at the Silver Spring American Apparel store, apparently upset over a display of T-shirts that read: "Legalize Gay" "Repeal Prop 8 Now!". The message refers to California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state.

Why do some people, even young people like this evil Brian McInerney who murdered Lawrence King in Cali, HATE gat people so much ???!!!

I don't understand it.

Can anyone explain why some people HATE gay people so much that they resort to violence ? Especially when the person, or in this case t-shirt, doesn;t even affect them in the slightest.

Anyone ?

(I guess 500 page books have been written on the nature of homophobia, rite ?)

In one word...fear. Fear of what they don't understand, fear of change, fear of who they suspect THEY may be, etc. etc.
It seems those who are the most emotionally immature are the ones with the most fear.

American Apparel sells these t-shirts at their store locations all around the United States with no problems.

What is it that separates Silver Spring from the rest of the nation? Is Silver Spring supposed to be the garbage pit of civilization or something?

I don't know, Dan. Why would anyone HATE Democrats so much?

Now I know that you're not physically violent--it probably isn't even in your nature. But wanting to impeach a President who has committed no impeachable offenses just because he's a Democrat is pretty hateful.

You probably grew up in a fairly stable family in a fairly stable neighborhood and learned to pursue your grievances through peaceful means. Many people come from families and communities that fail to teach those values. Many are frustrated because their skills of destruction, violence, and marksmanship far exceed their ability to navigate peaceful society. Had you grown up with poor role models, low self-esteem, and limited academic potential, you would probably understand the expressions of anger.

While frustration is not an excuse for violent behavior, it is an inevitable result. That's why society needs to work harder to give everyone hope and skills for successfully navigating through civil, productive society.

Support American Apparel for standing up like this. Go to their website, or one of their stores, and buy one of these shirts -- let's make it one of the most successful t-shirt designs ever to demonstrate what happens when companies do the right thing and stand up for us. I already have one in pink, but I am going to invest in more today. ;)

They are so completely absolutely sure that their point of view is the best, that their way is better for everyone, that they get frustrated and rail against anyone who feels differently. They get so mad when someone can't see the infallability if their argument that they become illogical. Like you with anyone who doesn't vote single topic, or who considers themself a member of a political party, or who actually considers the entire presidency rather than just the gay legislation. It's simple intolerance for other viewpoints. The only difference is the degree they take it to.

As far as hating Democrats and wanting to impeach Obamaniac is concerned, as a Libertarian, I stand on principled reasons. The Democrats OPPOSE LIBERTY, and pursue a socialist agenda.

We can't even get a majority of Democrats in Congress to repeal DADT which a DEMOCRATIC President signed into law. He COULD HAVE vetoed it.

Democrats are NO friend to gay people.

I will proudly wear my shirts, even in Chicago. No threats are going to intimidate me or make me change what I believe in and fight for. Kudos to American Apparel for showing us that Americans are not intimidated by thugs.

oh mister hate gays... I feel for you. Not having the loving nourishing relationship from your parents must have hurt your soul, hence the reason why you lash out.

I'm not a fan of American Apparel (a little to mainstream for me), but I might have to go buy on of those t-shirts.

And wear it to work.

Presently gay marriage is my most important cause. But I will never marry. I'm past that point in my life now of wanting it for myself.

But I still passionately believe in the causes of LIBERTY & JUSTICE.

I think he meant you're an embarrassment, not that you're overtly homophobic.

Or at least that's what I think about you.

Hopefully all that wear these t-shirts are bashed in the head. Maybe it will cure the gay. Gays are not but sick and twisted humans who should have been aborted by their mothers.
OK, now bring out your talking points. Go ahead, tell me, the only reason I or anybody that hates gays, feels that way is because they are gay themselves. Come on, you gays are so predictable. Hopefully I see a few of you in these t-shirts getting what you deserve.
Ooooh Yeah! I love it when you talk dirty to me you sassy studmuffin.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Aries

It's difficult to know whether you're being realistic or gloomy today, especially when thinking about matters dear to your heart. For instance, you might be concerned about the welfare of a relative and wonder whether you're making mountains out of molehills. Do your best to remain cheerful and positive, not bogged down in nameless fears.
